Yup, it needs a happy little cloud that lives over here ... Maybe leave the frame as is, but put a 95% transparent pane in there with some reflectivity to really get a 'glass' look. Better yet, swap the 'photo' with the 'painting'! LOL just kidding.

Looks good, and great concept of several layers of scene, gives it some depth. The 'photo background' used for out of the window (on the left, it is a window, right?)needs to have the horizon matched up with the Poser horizon, though this will probably mean all sky. Or tilt the Poser plane to get a slightly-above look and match horizon lines that way.

"The manual didn't help much..." LOL Of COURSE not! Manuals usually only make complete sense only after you don't need them. When you say 'apply your own clothes' you do mean putting the available apparel on the figure, not designing your own clothes, right? Part one is easy, part two is not. The cheap easy answer is - There are Tutorials available on the bar to the right ----> Briefly, start Poser and get a figure up. Add the clothes to the scene and click Figure|Conform to... and select your figure from the drop-down menu. This 'overlays' the clothes over the figure and lets it move with it. (Warning! 'Posable' clothes only! See Manual;] ) Seriously, the manual isn't that bad. And the Tutorials available, with online help just a click away, pretty much cover all the basics and then some. And plenty of users here will help on anything from very basic stuff to very advanced. Pose away! And show us some of your work!

Mostly from 3D Cafe (link on the right) as 3ds files. Pretty good for small trees and brush, but I'm still looking for some good BIG trees.
Thread: (WIP) Are my skills improving? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Very nice. I agree that some ripples around the fins and hull would be the icing on the cake. Nice transparency to the water, BTW. As for improving, of course! And remember, not all improvements show up in the artwork. Several images down the road you'll use a technique you used before, in a different way, with better results. And unless you're selling, you are the best judge of what you did. If you like it, SO BE IT. If others do also, even better. Don't stop, and post the next one that you're proud of!

Who doesn't need another sword? Sure, finish it up and post it, I'll use it somewhere! Is it katana-length, or saber-length? No matter, I'll find a Poser-Dork to stick it into! ;)

Eww! Looks painful! VG figure, but how about trying something different with the ground? I agree with Rosh, figure is great but the ground could be improved.

Thread: .mtl files???? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Search for .mtl files, then check the directories. This should clue you in to where to put mtl files (I think with the obj in the Geometries folder, haven't checked myself.)

'Bobbie' is too cool for lots of folks. ;) As for Poser and racial background, just as an art issue, a dark complexion doesn't always render true, or show shadows like a lighter complexion will. I'll post my 'Nubian Guard' whose complexion was lightened (he's still black!) so musculature etc. will show up better. Oh, the standard chick is 'Posette' and the guy is 'Poser-Dork' for obvious reasons... I feel for ya, all of you guys with 56K connections. I have a cable modem, and couldn't bear ever going back to dial-up. And that also means I have no excuse for not checking every pic posted to the galleries. I try to view almost every Poser-gallery post, and some Bryce, but since I don't have the other apps I only check those out if the thumbnail really grabs me. And yeah, a well-posed nude grabs me! ;) OK, so I'm a guy! But landscapes (done mostly in Bryce) also do it for me. I'm a big fan of well-lit scenes (not 'bright', well-lit!) since lighting can really affect the entire mood/feeling of a pic. Show me some exotic textures and shadows, and you've got my eyeballs. Throw in some carefully exposed skin, and you now have another anatomical part! ;) Unabashedly hetero, MadRed

I stand humbly corrected. My mom knits, and if she finds out I'll never hear the end of it! :[
