Thread: Walk In The Forest... | Forum: Photography
The first two are very appealing to me, I think because they remind me strongly of ink-and-wash paintings. I think the blue coloring of the leaves in the background of those shots is (at least possibly) a fringing effect, an aberration possibly related to the bleeding that Misha suggests. I don't know whether or not it would occur with film on overexposure of the adjacent areas this way; it seems to me unlikely, but Alpha would know :-D for sure. In any case it works well within the context of these images, so the reason to understand it is so that you (we) can use it when you (we) want to.

SLynky, it was only 15 miles from Plattsburgh, so of all of us, you were the one most likely to be slammed out of bed by this thing!

Thanks all. L8R is right: they tend to hang around the same favorite place. Misha is right too; this is a large fly, probably a cm long, altho' nowhere near 2lb. :D. Equipment helps. I used a 105 macro with three extension tubes, and I was handholding. I probably threw out one hundred frames to get this one. Will put up another, of a smaller fly with better detail (and equally crappy framing) shortly. Sue

You can do it. Early in the morning works well, when they are cold and kind of sluggish. Also, I've heard that painting sugar water around gets their attention. Or you can use my method, which will yield several hundred REALLY crappy shots and one pretty good one. I'll post an example, if I can figure out what I called it :D.

This is delightful. The color and the comp are really working. And no tripod-! I know what you mean about the disappointment once you get to the computer--I live with that feeling. But then, for those one or two that you actually like, it's totally worth it.
Thread: DigitalCamera - technical question ... | Forum: Photography
I never owned a Casio, but I had 2 Nikon Coolpixes. If, like the Coolpixes, your Casio has a zoom function, then the following information should work for you: If you by a fixed-focal length tele, like the EagleEye Optic Zoom, then you will have the zoom that your camera provides, but you may discover some vignetting at the wide angle end. If the optics of your camera are sharp, and the you buy a good quality tele lens, then your images should stay pretty sharp. The autofocus worked with the tele on my cams, but n ot quite as well as it did without the tele; it hunted more. I hope this helps. Sue

I missed "Close Encounters" if you can believe it, so what it makes me think of is "Ghostbusters"..."spook central at Central Park West" good choice on the filter.
