There are some books that usually can be found at a local chain bookstore that have patterns for like, $5 to $15. I have a few. All they are, are like black patterns, reminds me of engravings, page after page. There's Chinese and Japanese styles also. You can scan a page, send it to your favorite image editing software and modify them (watercolor them out, make them blue or red or gold (for that fancy maki-e look). Since they are black on white, can import them to Bryce's terrain editor and 3D them with very little modification. These booklets would be in the art section, probably in a stand by themselves.
I personally uses these things when making a box in the maki-e style. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maki-e)

Yeah, my wish list addition would be to not remove the fullscreen toggle [ctrl] + [tab] thingy Corel Bryce 5 has.
Thread: What are your favourite Bryce tips and tricks? | Forum: Bryce
For me, the [ctrl] + [tab] to toggle quickly to/from full screen is my best tip I could offer anyone! Love that feature. I'm sad to hear it's not available in Bryce 5.01. Corel's Bryce 5 has it. Then switching editing views using the number keys would be the next tip I use. Love keyboard commands!! Woohoo! ;-)
Thread: Anyone know a work around for this bug? | Forum: Bryce
I had a similar problem some time ago. Instead of a texture map going all crazy, the objects I was using was crashing Bryce. The way I solved it was: let's say there's Image A and image B. instead of merging B to the first image (A), try merging A into B.

I tend to think images with the nudity flag tend to get more viewings. As for my humble opinion, maybe a less formal sounding message reminding an artist to put the flag on would've been cool. The reasoning is in a forum like this, people tend to let down formal walls, speak their mind a bit, and it all has the air of informalness. For me, the way I think of everyone here in RD, and especially within the Bryce community here, is as friends. Agentsmith, Zhann, and others. So, I could imagine getting a formal sounding message might feel a bit cold.
As for me and nude flags, when I started learning to put figures into Bryce, I didn't know how to add the clothes and export them from Poser. The first nudity I did was a gold statue, like what you see in a trophy (golden winged angel type) and I wrestled with "do i click nudity or not?" thoughts. To me nude = no clothes, and since this is all virtual art we're doing, lots of arguments could be made that it is or isn't nude. However, I'm not big on philosophy so I avoid the stress and just error on the side of caution.
However, if I do ever violate an RD policy, it would be by accident (sometimes I do upload at night and I'm all sleepy). A friendly message like "oops! please don't forget the nude flag next time. If ya got questions, click here (faq link)" would be enough to get me to be extra careful next time.
:-) Just contributing thoughts!

Thread: Q: Doing things at full screen... | Forum: Bryce
Yes, I would do it that way, but the reason why I would rather do it full screen is b/c only a small part of the render will be shown at the current rendering resolution. I could play with the resolutions, but that's going to make it harder for someone to study the objects with the wireframe overlapping them. Thus was wondering if there was a possible way, such as a keyboard shortcut, to preserve the current resolution settings--to be full screen then invoke a keyboard command to display the wireframe.
Using the little cube at the lower right hand cornor of the GUI editor would require the GUI to display. I could take a screen capture of this, but then the right hand and top menu GUI controls would be visible, causing the render to be shifted over and down some. Unfortunately keeping the GUI visible shifts too much of the of the image.
If I try to render then click the little cube to display the render with the wireframe, then switch to full screen, a glitch occurs, where the rendered image becomes stretched and the wireframe does not show.
Upon reflection of your suggestion, however, I think I'll just have to re-render the image but move the camera around. Not truly what was wanted, but I suppose good enough.
Thanks though.

I agree, Nyad (Naiad) would have been good to title it. Trouble is I had already rendered a Naiad in a previous upload, being a figure with a water material. I was very close to calling this one a Naiad, yet I didn't want to give two conflicting images of what I thought a Naiad ought to look like. The other image is "Alethea" in my gallery.

I settled with a combination: Sirenic Dance. I usually have other variations of a render, this one, for instance, there's a version with dolphins and another with ruins. So some of those titles already mentioned, especially the tranquility ones, will certainly be used. Thanks all! :-)
