Hey jschoen! take that link to a workaround Clay gave me for the sun's soft shadow settings. It's not too painful and it works! AgentSmith

Global Soft Lighting - Yeah, I asked this question about 8 threads down, to no avail. I guess it is a bug that only a patch will fix. Until then, replace your sun with radial lights (or whatever) and use the settings inside the each lights edit attributes (the little "E" box), to turn on soft shadows. I've tried soooo many different combinations to try and make the sun itself have soft shadows...it just won't work...yet. Can't believe Corel let that bug go out. AgentSmith

Thread: Videoadapter | Forum: Bryce
Well sure...Lightwave is better than Bryce 5, no argument there. But the "route of Lightwave" will cost you $2,500.00 Where as a Bryce 5 upgrade will run you $150.00, that's about 16 times less than Lightwave. But, hey...it's your lunch money. ;o) Original question up there (joervo) - it's true, your video card has NOTHING to do with rendering when you "render to disk", so it doesn't really matter. It's all about your cpu speed. Take that $500.00 and see if you can put a faster cpu in your motherboard. AgentSmith

Thread: Bryce 5 (demo) help needed - skies soft shadow setting. | Forum: Bryce
NO...you misunderstood, or didn't fully read. It is not a radial/spot light I am having trouble with...it is the SUN/SHADOW settings inside the SKYLAB. It is the SUN itself. And as far as "wgreenlee1" goes... Well...that doesn't answer my question, and...I cannot altogether agree with your opinion on Bryce 5. I had a chance to play with a co-workers PC, whom had both Bryce 4 and Bryce 5 together on the same PC. I created a scene in Bryce 4, and rendered it in 56 seconds. I then re-created the same scene absolutely exactly in Bryce 5, and it rendered...in 63 seconds. I also took Bryce 5, opened the scene first made in Bryce 4, rendered it, again 63 seconds. This makes Bryce 5 about 8% slower than Bryce 4. That amounts to a little less than an extra 5 minutes per hour added to rendering time from version 4 to 5. This was just my experience with 4 vs. 5. Now, where this comparision ends is when you increase the quality settings in Bryce 5. Yes, you will absolutely get slower rendering times, no doubt. I have demo-ed Vue 4, I do not like it myself, but that is just purely my taste talking. I think it is a very good product but I have also read from 3D artists who dwarf my knowledge and expertise that the rendering times of Vue 4 are about the same if you jack up the settings to match Bryce 5. As far as you getting a Bryce 5 manual that had pages missing....? I would think that your Bryce 5 CD should have a .pdf copy of it on it, Corel knows this and I'm sure that is why they would not send you one. Now can anyone answer my original question? AgentSmith

Have you tried smoothing the object? In case you ned to know how: go to wireframe mode. select the object. click on the tiny white box with the letter "E" in it. click & drag the dark graph bar on the left down to oh, 40. click the pic of the smooth sphere under "Smooth" Let it do it's little song and dance. when it's done, click the check mark. render it. If it's still dented, try a higher value than 40 degrees. I hope that helps.

Thread: Time for Poser 5 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I want Poser to be able to save its scene complete with ANY and ALL models and attributes (cr2,rsr,obj geometries, pose dots, camera dots,etc...everything) as a single file, period. Just like Bryce. I hate having to keep extra files in geometries, textures, props folders, etc. just to have models come up at all. This will finally serve to keep Poser's program folder down in its already enormously bloated size! I also agree with all the other things people had mentioned above, just wanted to vent, er...propose an opinion that hadn't already been given. AgentSmith

Thread: Need a scan of a 3D Studio Max Box for Bryce...I'll explain... | Forum: Bryce
I have Vue 4, it is also available in freestuff. But, I do need the 3d studio max, the version 3 would be better. All 6 sides would be wonderful, but anything would help, though. Resolution? Dunno, I'nm only sure how my scanner works as far as settings. If it were me I would scan an object that size at 75dpi, I'm sure that would make it big enough. E-mail is fine. Thank You! Yes...could you clear up the details on imported meshes. Can people... Only import meshes they build themselves from another app? (i.e. - Rhino 3D, Amapi, etc.) Or, could they download a freestuff Poser charcter, pose it, export from Poser and import it into Bryce to be able to use it? What's allowed one way or another? Just wanna make sure.

Thread: Bryce 4 : Radiosity - Ambience - Global Illumination - Glare - How To? | Forum: Bryce
Sure thing, I have it figured out to a point now, I'm just trying to get it below 120 lights...yes, 120. When finished I'll probably upload the scene file to the freestuff for people to mess around with. AgentSmith
