I have read other posts that say the demo runs MUCH slower than the purchased product, I have not yet tried it. Moving files - go to a directory (i.e.; "Plains and Terrains") click on the first material, scroll down to the last material, hold down "Shift" and left click the last material, this should select all the materials in that directory (Look close, you should be able to see a small red ring around each square now). Click "export" and it will export all those files as a single .mat file. Then, you can just import them into Bryce 5 by using the import option in a materials directory. Also, holding down the "Ctrl" button and left clicking allows you to randomly choose any files in a directory. Agent Smith

Thread: July Contest Entry | Forum: Bryce
Cool-ass render! That scene just screams death on a stick. Yeah, haven't seen the movie myself, but I can tell the CGI isn't to be denied. Tough theme? I thought it would be way easy, that's why I chose it out of a handful of ideas. Thousands of movies out there. There has been fewer entries this time around it seems, but some really great ones, I believe. This forum seems to have turned into the Bryce 5 bitch fest (for what seems good reasons), the next challenge will be probably have a bigger turnout. `Course there is still 4 days left(hint hint)...and I stiil have to turn in my "pure" bryce entry...(back to work) Great entry chanson! Thread: CD-R or CD-RW for my Poser archives? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I NOW use cd-rw along with cd-r's because I used to think I didn't need cd-rw's. I would wait for 650Mb of info to amass on my hard drive and then back up on cd-r. THEN, my hard drive failed...I lost EVERYTHING I had not backed up to that point (I didn't want to burn `til I reached 650Mb). When you have spent around 100 hours building your first 3D models and then lose them because you didn't use cd-rw's...you will instantly start wanting to use them. USE cd-rw's! If you are afraid they crap out after 2-3 years...then replace them, they can be bought for around $1.00 a piece now, so no excuse there. I have never had a problem with cd-rw's in any way (losing data). (I use a Yamaha drive & Roxio ez cd creator 5 platinum). I also FULLY erase them after a year, re-format them and stick the files back on, just in case the formatting has been comprised whatsoever. I also suggest using 2 backup's of the same info, never FULLY trust any computer-wise to NOT fail you. Do I sound paranoid yet? If it's data that won't change in content, use cd-r's, if it's ongoing work projects, use cd-rw's, otherwise you will want to wait for a full cd amount of info to burn and you will wait...and maybe lose everything.

Thread: censorship should be fair | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This is just the way it is. Look at movies, full frontal female nudity, rated-r...full frontal male nudity, rarely done `cause you may get a nc-17 rating and if he is shown erect...definetly nc-17. Just the way it is, in almost all things. You don't see nude male...erect statues in museums. The world is not truly equal...welcome.

Thread: Rendering Question - How long should a render take? | Forum: Bryce
Also, for you to possess the WHOLE picture like that, I know you were rendering normaly...you need to choose the rendering option to "Render To Disk", this will bypass your video card having to display the changing results of the ongoing render. Which it will still do, even if your monitor is turned off. But, THE thing that will have the MOST effect will be using a lesser seting in volumetric world options as mentioned above. Or, as you have found, turn it off altogether. Agent Smith

Oh...the dreaded 95%... Uhm, try at night? Or at least try at different times. It may be getting hit up big time by a ton of people. Maybe even try changing your dial-up number for AOL, if you can. Too bad this isn't http based, people could have used GetRight or something. Good Luck! I have a cable modem but, I'm gonna wait a few days before trying, anyway. AgentSmith

Thread: Preset files too big? | Forum: Bryce
omygod. Yes, not too big, but something as big as a 197Mb .obp file is going to take quite a while to bring into Bryce. I've went throght that...only with a 45Mb .obp file.

That would be illegal...I believe. Contact the company that makes the book, they could probably help you, of course you might have to send them your original broken cd...

Thread: rendering times | Forum: Bryce
Not truly uncommon, all depends on how big your file size is and how big (dimensions) you are rendering it to. Be sure and use the "render to disk" option, to bypass the video card having to do anything. That's about it. Bryce is a true raytracer, it takes longer. Agent Smith

Instead of clicking on "load" and going through that "Cancel or Delete?" dialogue, click on one of the 30 grey squares below to load up a new texture. This will make sure you don't delete any of your prior textures from the program. I think that's what you're asking... Agent Smith

Thread: Depth of Field in BRYCE 3D | Forum: Bryce
Yeah, that's the link given for "depth of field" at most of the Bryce tutorial link sites. BUT...I went through his site and could not find any tutorial(s) anymore, just some basic working tips. I think this is (obviously) where it was, but no more. Maybe it's buried within, but it is a slow site, and I too have a cable modem.

Shoot...I remember seeing a tutorial somewhere to do barbed wire in the terrain editor, but can't remember where. (sorry) But, I know I started out at "www.bryce4all.com" and went from there (somewhere).
