You didn't mention the "incredible" price... World Builder 3 Standard is twice the price of Bryce 4, while the Professional version is FIVE times the price. Although, I will admit the World Builer renders can look pretty darned great if in the right hands. But, if I were to spend the money... For $400 I would upgrade to Bryce 5 and Poser Pro Pack. For $1000...I would probably opt for Cinema 4D Art maybe, something like that. Bryce 4 is like the .22 caliber of the 3D world...cheap(est) and loads `o fun. I have seen some great renders from some of the World Builder people, hope you can master it. I would really like to see a compared render output from both World Builder and Bryce, just to see. Thread: ok....*sigh* | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I just don't leave my computer anymore. Hope that helps! ...uh, j/k. I don't know about Poser 5 coming out "anytime", don't think you truly need to worry `bout that this year. Two tips (what I do). Make lots of notes on ideas...and include notes explaining your those notes, because you really won't know what you were talking about, trust me, I have done this. Practice on making one idea and finishing it, all the way. It's the hardest thing to do, I swear. You will learn more by forcing yourself to finish...at least every other project. AgentSmith

Thread: Importing Bryce .OBP into Poser.....is it possible? What program can I use?! | Forum: Bryce
Sorry, no there is not. Bryce can only export terrains, symmetrical lattices, and meshes that were originally imported into Bryce from somewhere else. And, there is nothing (that I know of) that will convert .obp's.

Thread: Idea for the Galleries. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Your most valid point would be #1 - The Top 20...catch 20. Let me say this first...I Love, women, naked women, and yes even naked women with any size breasts, much less the big Poser breasts, that's not the problem. That being said, it can be kinda frustrating when you yourself or someone else you know has (what you believe) to be a good enough (no-nude) render to make it to the Poser Top 20. But wait! You forgot the Catch 20! Unless your pic has a big breasted naked woman in it...it probably won't make it...frustrating, yes. Me upset? Honestly, not really. 1. I just now render my Poser's with Bryce, have a better chance in the Bryce Top 20, usually...sometimes. 2. The Top 20 really isn't my goal, just getting better is. No, really...it is. 3. The people (nude renders) who Make it to the Top 20 Poser are (usually) Freakin' Masters at skin textures, they blow me away and deserve to be up there, no doubt. I think it would be a good thing to have a nude and a no-nude Poser gallery. It would give more Poser people a better chance at making it up to a Top 20. It's a true confidence builder. Do I think two Poser galleries will ever happen? Uhhh...doubt it. I guess I had better get a lot better at texturing skin...;o)

Thread: My entry for the contest... | Forum: Bryce
LOl...knew at least one or more would do Matrix...;o) Well, you still have 25 days `til the end of the contest, if you still want to do anything to it, you do have time. I would...stick a Ellipsoid (long egg shaped primitive) and a cylinder primitive (both from Bryce) together to make more realistic looking bullet rounds, perhaps a metal material to them. I see you can blur, very nice, great way to show motion, might want to blur your bullets and/or the "bullet time effect", not sure...may make them too indistinguishable. Perhaps a concrete looking texture to the ground. Great scene from a awesome movie! Best of luck, will3ivxdude, you have a great start. Gotta tell ya, those Agents are handsome guys. Agent Smith

Thread: Agent Smith Shield explained further - Part 1 | Forum: Bryce
"The same would be true if you set the bump map level too high" Actually, untrue...I can/have manually set the bump level to 300. The bump effect will get to a certain level and it's effects will stop (level off)way before 300. And, even at that setting, the effect of the bump map would not be so detracting to the final render, just undesirable. The terrain/lattice will also level off at a certain point if taken up as the bump map, yet at that point the engravings are as tall as telephone poles, and your render is ruined. The idea (as it stands) is to get both to work together to produce models/renders that are of higher quality. My original study on the making detailed lattice work was slightly derailed when my practice turned up good preliminary results. I then practiced on the Mapping part of the model, which would have happened anyway, but was originally planned for secondary banana to the Lattice work. But, I TOTALLY agree on what you have been saying (in context)about a detailed model being superior to bump maps. It is true and always will be. Bump maps cannot take the place of real detail in a model. Just not possible. Originally, yes...the Shield was presented as a ONGOING study in making detailed Lattice work, not a finished how-to...just the tip of the iceberg I'm now discovering. While I know how to make great detailed Lattice/Terrain, I must practice at it, and (come close to) perfecting the technique. I hope what I have discovered and shown so far in this continuing, WIP will help fellow members. And, once I get the Lattice work down as well as I have the mapping...;o) Thanks for your comments. Don't know, try again. I went there and it goes all the way back to Sept. 6th, 1999. Are you going to Bryce Freestuff and then clicking "Whats New"? (That's what I do). The Freestuff area can be a slow loader sometimes. Agent Smith

Thread: Remark about the Bryce Challenge | Forum: Bryce
I am in the challenge this month for the first time and my pic is basically just a character posed/textured and then exported from Poser into Bryce (The Skeleton pic at the top of the vote thread). It never occurred to me that what I was doing was using Bryce for JUST the rendering. Since I export like that all the time, I never thought of it. Rath has a very good point that didn't strike me when I entered, it is a BRYCE challenge. And, it can be a disadvantage to those that have just Bryce and not Poser. (or Photoshop) Yet, I have read the ideas for the challenges for some time now and some themes I would not want to attempt without some sort of human or figure element. But, come the next challenge, I will enter, and will use nothing but Bryce, no model/texture imports of ANY kind, and no post work. (now there's a challenge). I look forward to it. Only seems fair. If I had ONLY Bryce, that's how I would want this to go down. Thanks to Rath, and the others for this POV. Agent Smith
