Thread: Bryce Forum no Help! Pose to Bryce question! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
what texture are you using becouse if it uses the no brow morph and a surface texture you should deleate the upper and regular eyebrows. if not group them with the eyelashes. in the materials window what I do is click in the circle next to transparency, in the image texture load black in the first window and the steph trans map in the second window. then in the drop down menu click on blend transparency then set diffusion and transparency to 100 everything else to 0 and use the diffusion color dot to set the lash and brow color

Leatherguy I agree compleatly. as an artist I aplaud CL for having the curage to create a true artists tool rather then whimping out with a moderate upgrade that they know would apease the penny pinchers but dissapoint those who want a powerful tool.

Yes you can save in P4 as a Tiff in which the backround translates in a photoshop type program as a transparent layer.

It is my guess that many of the elabrate hairdos that are currently available may be difficult and time consuming to recreate with strand based hair and of course the processing time is an issue, and the same is true of many of the other new features. at the very least if you want more then one figure in the scene at a time you'll want some that don't tie up massive processing time as well as not needing the extra detail. I don't think it's productive to think that you'll have to throw your P4 models on the scrap heap yet.

I agree with MadYuri, instead of "nude vicki with sword in temple" we will probably have lot's of "nude p5 woman with sword in temple with strand based hair and puddy'd out breasts" but predomanantly those who create great art do so with whatever medium they have at hand. most of the stuff I've seen in the top twenty recently would likely not have been improved demonstratively with P5, it's all great stuff from great artists, who would work with burnt sticks and berry juice if they had to. as for snobs every comunity has those and no doubt this will just add more. as for me I wll just create with what I can. if I can afford the update I will get it. if not I will work with P4 and be happy about it. P.S. Phantast I liked your last two pieces on that other site.

let's see new rendering engine, strand based hair, gravity effects and collision detection, new morphing system, face mapping, not to mention high rez figures with textures by some of the best in our community, all with backwards compatibility, acording to CL. that they could pull this off in a program for less then a grand is nothing short of amazing. most of the stuff on this list is stuff that people here have been hoping for since P4 came out. so don't be surprised when they give us everything we wanted but have to charge more for it. I for one plan to forgo a few fancy Meals For Happy meals If it's everything it's cracked up to be.
Thread: OT - How to ask questions if you're new to Bryce. | Forum: Bryce
One small point. If someone doesn't have the manual It may be becouse they baught the educational version of the software like myself and that version though perfectly legal does not come with the manual. not that I have had much need to ask any questions in the forum as the help file works fine for me. just don't jump down anyones throat becouse they don't have one. I ocasionaly find in these forums people are quick to condemn when a question is asked inocently but ineptly and misunderstood.

My bryce suggestion was just based on the images they showed and their prefrence for using corel 2d program for design:) most of those 3d programs are hard to learn and cost a fortune and not nessasary if one just wants to assemble several fairly flat items. those pieces could be done in bryce in about 10 minutes they'd take a lot longer in many 3d modeling programs. where the 3d modelers realy shine is organic curved shapes. and you can't get much easyer then bryce which was a stipulation of their request. and it's cheeper then the full versions of all the rest, as well as being a great rendering engine for poser images:)

scroll work like that is easily done with Bryce terrains just use the flat jpgs as bump maps. then they can be assembled and exported as an .obj file.

Concentrate on processer and memory. P4 doesnt use video card acceleration and I doubt P5 will either. so if you're not playing games, spending 300+ on a video card is probably a waste when you can use that money on more ram. poser is a ram hog and I'm sure as was stated before the latest DDR sdram will probably be of benifit. make sure you get it in 512 cards rather then 256, my brother just baught the latest system from sony with 512 but when he opened the case found that there were 2 256 filling the two slots so no way to expand without jetisining brand new ram but thats what you get from a major manufacturer. go with a custom job, preferably from a local shop if you don't like digging around in your own case, you may pay a few more bucks but if something goes wrong it's a short ride to get it fixed My personal choice for a processer is an AMD xp2100 at about the same performance as the latest P4 chip it's way cheeper.
