while the steffyzz stuff on zs3d.com are arguably the most realistic textures out there they are by no means free. personaly for a free vicky texture (complete with body shape and hair!)I would pick reika by minerva. sorry I don't have the website on my work computer but if somebody else doesn't come up with it before I get home tonight Ill post it for you.
Thread: I'm on a roll! More P4 clothes | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I echo fishnoses sentiment. those of us who already own vicki or steph but disagree with Daz's policys may or may not decide to support Daz by buying products from them but we will not stop using the figures we paid for! and more clothing being released in the aftermarket means less reliance on daz. 16cents, 17cents, 18cents...

no zooming in does not as significantly shorten render times as rendering small selections, the other issue is that you are changing perspective with a zoom which can significantly change the composition, therefore negateing my favorite cut and paste trick.

selective rendering is one of my favorite features in bryce especialy after I've spent hours rendering the whole scene only to find out one small item is out of place. render the section save the image and cut and paste the section into the original scene in PaintShopPro if you render the images the same size you don't even have to reposition your selection. I've saved tons of rendering time with that feature. seems like common sense and probably everyone is doing it, but boy did I hit my head when I figured out that one. 13cents, 14cents, 15cents....

Just to add one more for comparison the Aiptek 68 is not bad at the same price as the Wacom 46 if you want more surface at a budget price. and it works just fine with NT/2000/XP.
Thread: Buy Pro Pack or wait for Poser 5 ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I knew I read something about Propack in the California Dreaming thread, and here it is: "and there will be continued support and development for the propack and hosting in other programs such as lightwave and Cinema4DXLand MAX and in the near future a new 'Super plugin" that will forever change the relationship between poser and the high end community." from that quote It doesn't seem as if propack is going to be intigrated completely into poser so I think It is pretty safe if you want to get it with the understanding that you may have an upgrade price for that too
Thread: Don't buy any new clothing items!! I see a big 80% off sale coming!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It is also my guess based on the generous work by many of the modelers here that there will be minimaly priced upgrades to current clothing that take advantage of P5 features.
Thread: Michael, Vicki, Stephanie, Dina, & Natalia - a comment from Curious | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm guessing that the dynamic cloths will be useing collision detection to conform around any figure they are set to surround, hopefully pokethrough will be a thing of the past. And thanks Kupa, for allaying our fears that our vast expensive p4 libraries may not go to waste. 7cents, 8cents, 9cents....

alright I'm subtably impressed with P5. damn! wish I hadn't spent all that money at Daz now. better start saving my money for the upgrade. 1 cent, 2 cents, 3 cents...:)
Thread: Thanks goes out to all freestuff providers | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I second the thanks. it is amazing how much stuff is given away freely. in my opinion it is unprecedented in the relm of comercial product support.
Thread: An open letter to Daz | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
sorry that last line should have read if gifted modelers suddenly... :) not to infer that modelers become suddenly gifted.
Thread: An open letter to Daz | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Jeff and ironbear I do agree with you that as far as the law goes the position stated by daz last week is rather overreaching and probably indefensable. my letter went to the spirit of the matter that any attempt to overcontrol the use of their products would likely cause several modelers to curtail some of their more ambitious projects just to avoid the hassles of dealing with Daz's objections. Can you be sure that if Daz objects to an item in the marketplace that it won't be pulled by renderosity just to avoid hassles or animosity. knee jerk resposes aren't unknown even in this enlightened community. the sad fact of the matter is that those who want the version 2 morphs without paying for them will Just find them complete with the figures themself using peer to peer. they're all out there, including practicly every product in the marketplace. alienating the community who does buy your products and uses them in the proper maner seems to me to be shortsighted. my letter was just an attempt to offer them another point of view before any real damage is done, though the fact that products have already been pulled even if temporarily seems to support my unease. legume and others while your point on the longevity of these figures is valid I see them as at the beginning of their useful lifespan and not at the end I have invested a fair amount in these figures and if suddenly gifted modelers choose to use their talents elsewhere it can only split the community and my own resorces.
Thread: My first real attempt at dess tex, opinions please. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
yes the seem is dead center down the back and there is a realy wide mesh segment at eather end which if you put a flat texture on it will cause the compression you see. the ideal thing is to stretch out the texture evenly in those areas I haven't found an easy way of doing that except for with squizz an expensive photoshop plugin ($140.00 just for a plug-in!!) theres also a cheeper program called pm Rubber but I tried the demo and was less then enthused.
Thread: DAZ, please clarify - Essential | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't see Daz sending out a deluge of cease and desist letters. and I can only believe that the only items that they could (or would)legaly question is items derived directly from their meshes or items wich could be used to reverse engineer exactly the shape of their meshes (thus the concern over the body suit)so please people, please, please, don't start pulling your great products prematurely! Especialy becouse I don't have enough money to buy them all this weekend ;)
