Hi, all files in a runtime are 'relative', and within any additional runtimes as well. It's references to files residing in outside folders that cause the problems. If I were you I would do two things. First I would try running Poser in administrative mode. Also check your graphics drivers, most Poser problems stem from them. It's possible the files you're attempting to open have their preview set to openGL hardware support and this is where the troubles reside. One simple test is switch to SreeD for preview mode and make sure it's saved as the default. If things are more stable, then the graphics card's openGL isn't compatible with Poser. Try newer drivers and maybe switch to openGL sofware support under preview settings.

Hi, for most problems in P7, the culprit is usually the graphics cards drivers. Both the nVidia and ATI drivers have caused problems for P7 because of it's newer OpenGL preview. The first test is to try the older SreeD setting under the 'render settings:preview' tabs. If these problems stop, then your graphics card/drivers are the cause. Try installing the latest drivers following your manufacturers instructions.
PS... you can first try switching from 'hardware' to 'software' for the accumulation buffer which as also located in the 'render settings' preview tab.

I have Trendmicro, it stopped the trojan and reported it is also known in Sopho and AVG databases as a trojan infecting approximately 28,000 computers in North America, however, it's purpose/s are 'unknown'

Hi, or if using P7, the morph brush :) I own most of the wardrobe applets and now find fine tuning fits is really easy with this tool. especially for static renders. Try it, but remember to reduce the default influence alot before using. I find that sometimes the default value is too much.

Hi, I sympathize, for best results with Vista and many non vista applications, keep all working files away from the default installation directory and in an added runtime/s anywhere else. With Poser's past instability, it's a wise strategy anyway. I do this and never have problems with either Poser or Vista. If Poser suddenly seems to need a re-install, it's so much easier, if all your content and working files are safely away from the installation directory. Try it , it works for me.

Thread: Vista or SR3 trouble ? Or something else? (don't know if OT or not) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi, yes as I said "only within 'program files'". I have both P6 and P7 on my system [ Vista Ultimate 64] with no problems at all. A long time ago, because of Poser's instability, I learned to separate my working files from the Poser installation itself. This method has never been shown to be a bad choice anyway. I simply suggest you try this method too.
ps, I've got gigabytes of files installed for Poser in four or five runtimes and Vista never looses anything.

Hi, simple, quick answer: use a runtime outside the program's and not located within the 'program files' folders amd turm on 'view hidden files' for directories and folders.

Hi, also, the render dimensions must be in the same ratio as the preview window, if they're not, the preview will not fill the entire window.

Thread: the new Vincent Parker figure - any clothes? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
That would be it. I use Deep Paint 3D and Photoshop CS2. I figure I'll just load the object into DeepPaint and use the current uvs. I've only just ordered him after posting through Paypal and will wait for the download.

Hi, really loved the animations! Count me in, going to order him this evening. I was thinking of making a low res texture for him ( I like making personal textures for figures but God knows why ), I'll post images when done and if people like it, could be a freebie.

Hi, if you want an object or prop or even a figure parented to something else, open the Hierarchy editor and drag the object/figure to the desired object or subgroup and it will be parented to that object. Another way is when the object you want to remain attached/positioned to another object is currently selected, choose the Object...Change Parent from the menubar at top and select the new parent. Sometimes props have no specific parent which is then the universe and you would need to select a particular parent to retain a spacial relationship you have set up.
When selecting lights, if you choose the 'double checkmark' the currently selected library item will be added the scene lights. If you click the 'single checkmark'. then the selected library item will replace that of the scene. You can also add addtional lights without disturbing your setup by choosing again from the top menubar selecting 'Object....Create Light....'. This will add an additional light without moving or erasing any lights already present. Also, it's good working practice to save often, just usually a matter of seconds on most scene files. You should also create a folder for personal lightsets which is really simple to do and then save favorite lightsets there. If something happens inadvertently during a working session, it's simply a matter of one click to regain your special lightset. Hope this helps....

Thread: Vista......?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi, Vista 64 Ultimate here and Poser 7 and even 6 run fine, The only problems since day one have been related to the nVidia drivers using openGl mode which in Poser only affect the preview screen or render anyway. For a while before sr3 openGl was also working in preview mode without hassles, but since sr3, SreeD is way better being very stable. With enough ram Poser preview and renders are faster than XP Pro on my machines anyway. Another horrible culprit can be the anti-virus you use. Windows new Live version actually runs fine as does TrendMicro. At one point I tried CA because it runs on Vista, was on Microsoft's certified Vista list and is the choice of Fortune 500 companies. While that company claimed no perceptual slowdown of the system with use, I found it to be just the opposite, It's safety features were more cumbersome than Vista's AC. and even surfing on a fast connection was slower than a regular modem due it's constant preview checking. Hope this helps.
