Thread: Are Vue 8 atmospheres darker? | Forum: Vue
Thank you everyone for your replies. The culprit was in fact the 'Re-use indirect lighting " option. As Arraxxon stated, when I turned that option off the preview and the render were the same.

Thank you bagginsbill, that is very clear. Once again I appreciate you taking the time to answer.

hborre and bagginsbill, thanks for the replies. I had tried out the different unit settings on my computer, and as I changed the settings I could see that the displacement values changed. I re-entered my setting of 0.01Â for each unit setting and rendered but did not see any significant difference. What I failed to do was set the the preferred state and re-start Poser before entering my displacement values. When I did that, I got the distortion my friend was getting. Well, it just shows that I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer :-).
Once again, thanks for your help. I appreciate it.

hborre,
Thank you for the reply, but I am not sure if that is the case. Using your suggestion, I tried all of the general unit settings in Poser, and none of the settings produced the displacement effect to the same degree that my friend is getting. I am typically using a displacement setting of 0.01 with my units set to feet. My friend is getting a displacement effect equivalent to a setting of 0.1 on my computer. I tried all of the general unit settings with a displacement of 0.01 and I do not seem to get the distortion that my friend is getting.
Thread: Plant Editor Tutorials? Are there any? | Forum: Vue
Asilefx also has some custom plant tutorials for sale that I found to be quite helpful. They can be purchased on the E-onsoftware site or at www.asilefx.com.
Also check out this thread for some further links. Offrench also posted a tutorial that he made.
(edited to add the thread link).

Thread: Creating Full Body Morphs for Poser Figures | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thank you everyone for your responses. These have given some more options to try. Regarding the programs Poser Tool Box and Balcksmith3D, I am not yet familiar with either one of these. What I am attempting to do is create a full body morph for a Poser dinosaur figure. Will either or both of these programs work on non-human type figures or are they limited to Daz and Poser human figures? Of the two are there any preferences for one or the other?
Thank you for any further help.
Thread: Making custom Leaves | Forum: Vue
offrench,
Thank you for your reply. In fact, it is your tutorial that I am currently following. I do have a question about it however. You mention about making an image 512x512 pixels in size. Is this the optimal size/resolution that should be used for all leaf maps or is acceptable to use larger/higher resolution maps?

Thread: displacing eyebrows | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
There are a couple of tutorials about making an eyebrow mask that may help you. They were originally made to change the colour of V4's eyebrows but they also work to mask the displacement of the brows. The process is also fairly easy and only takes a few minutes. I believe that one of the tutorials is on the Daz3d site in the tutorials section. It is called easy colour changeable eyebrows. Here is a link:

edit: The link doesn't work perfectly. At the top of the page change the view to textures and maps.
Thread: Best option for M3 clothing to Freak 4? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Klebnor,
I understand that there are issues in Poser with scaling when it comes to conforming clothing , and I have heard that conforming clothing for Freak 4 will not work properly in Poser as a result of this. Because of this I am very interested in what you have done with the M4 clothes in your images above.
Did you have the Freak Scale morph set to greater than 0 in your Freak character? And am I correct in assuming that the M4 clothes conformed properly after you used the Morphing Clothes package? If this is the case then I know what my next purchase will be!

Thread: Displacement on Poser figures in Vue | Forum: Vue
Hello ArtPearl,
I will try to make the distribution map black and white as you suggest. I don't know why it is not showing up on the sphere in the preview window. I think that is the problem. I am saving the changes to the function editor when I leave (at least I think I am because I am clicking on OK), but nothing seems to happen after that. I also only have one material check for displacement. I am puzzled.
