I tried multiple times to view your animation. I think the problem is tripod. I also use tripod...if more than 2 or 3 people try to view the animation it wont download anymore. They are afraid you may use to much bandwith or something. Hopefully around midnight tonight I'll get my chance to view it :)

WOW! That is a sweet pic! I would say its good enough that any comments should be taken with a grain of salt. I really like the pic. How can you mess with it @ this stage? I hate it when I have to keep going beyond a certin point just b/c it has a tendency to mess up what went right in the first place. (did that make any sense to you?) Anyway I really like how realistic the water looks, and I am very impressed with the complexity of how the cattails look.

well I am running a amd 'thunderbird' @ 900mhz and its been flawless. I have more a problem with winME and Carrara than I do with the chipset. Actually I dont understand what the whole compatablity hype is. I have been using amd since '96 and have yet to find a program that didnt run on both. Just make sure that you pick a good motherboard.

I saw this on the list and I must say that I am a bit confused. Do I want this? I want the promised Carrara/Amapi offer. Do I get Amapi for the upgrade price? (b/c I own carrara)..should I wait until the end of the year for the combo pack with both of them built together? Normally Antoine's posts are pretty straight forward but this one confused me a bit.

The thing that made me laugh the most with carrara was those stupid trays. I love them now but I think I had carrara for about 2 weeks before I found those 3 trays. It may sound stupid but I was totally frustrated when the manual said to open the tray. I was like "What tray?". lol..when I finally found them I was so happy! It tripled what I could do with carrara :)

ok here's A question: How come when I use projection mapping I get inconsistant results...IE when I map on one side it appears to have differnet values than if I map on the oposit side. My guess is that there is a front to every object and thats how it projects. If you dont guess where that front is then you get wierd reflections on your map...how far off base am I? The only way I can texture in Carrara is to model everything with little parts and then just texture each part. I have never been able to use projection/parametric/etc in the way the manual describes. Something is always messed up. Anyone have any good tutorials? When I do the ones in Carrara bible it always works, but anyone can put a texture on the can...its a bit different when I build larger more complex models. Oh well..maybe when amapi becomes available in C2 things will be a bit different. I think a lot of my problems happen b/c I dont model in Carrara.

pretty cool...I like how you did the extra detail on the wood. My dad is an antique collector so the multigrain/pattern looking wood is the first thing I noticed. What a pain that must have been. Looks authentic tho, so the work paid off. Now the real question is ... did you do IK on the lid and are you going to animate it? :)

I just bought an athlon system in Dec...this is what I found out. Some may help you and some might not :( 1) Make sure your have the newest drivers for your video card..the drivers on that video card are new and very young..they need a lot of work :( Try running Carrara in software/d3d/open gl modes...my computer was freaking on d3d. 2) In your bios settings you should see an agp multiplier..try bumping it down from 4x to 2x or 1x. Most athlon motherboards have BAD agp design. 3) My computer for about a week kept crashing to the desktop in the render room..the ultimate fix was to upgrade my Via motherboard 4 in 1 drivers to the latest version. The Athlon processor is amazing..it runs pretty hot but in terms of price to perfermance I think its the best....it just needs a bit of tweaking.

I will second Clint's vote on that one. I bought my 32meg geforce2 mx for $110 bucks and I love it. I just bought my father one for his computer with dual monitor support for $135 bucks. No matter what you buy go check out www.pricewatch.com when you look at this stuff...it can save you big bucks.
