Hey nanotyrannus, I removed the article temporarely until we clarify the issue with e-on. Here it is in plain form: http://www.cgfocus.com/Vue5_rem.cfm Cheers!

Yup...seen his work, it's impressive especially the latest work as he might be using one of max's GI plugins. :) Cheers!

I agree with Laurie, the max render is much more realistic as it's got a better ambient lighting. The light reflection on the floor is uneven which gives it a less "CG look". Both are still nice though. Cheers!
Thread: a graphic card for VUE4 ? | Forum: Vue
I strongly suggest a GeForce3 Ti 200, it's the best "Bang for the Buck" for OpenGL and Direct3D...it's slightly slower than a Ti 500 but much cheaper and it still has 64Mb DDR RAM! :) I run a Quadro DCC with the Detonators 21.83 on WinXP, all is smooth sailing in 3ds max 4.2, LightWave 6.5b, Vue 4.02 and 4.03, WorldBuilder 3 Pro and so on. :) Cheers!

I'd have to say both are great but I like Vue's look in all ways, from the menus to the final rendered image. Both outputs images that can be grainy and very CG like but I did a few animations in Vue that are not bad at all although I hate the way you animate a camera. I'd love to see grass/trees animated in Vue like it does in WB and if the animation is improved I will be a happy camper. :) Cheers!

9 Wind wizards make animating 3D plants, clouds, and surf easy. 10 The only high-quality rendering engine capable of rendering large landscapes with thousand of animated 3D plants and grass. Definately! I love these in WorldBuilder! :) Cheers!
Thread: CG Focus Giveaway: 3Dlabs Wildcat II 5000! | Forum: Vue
I will keep away from the beta version...works fine here with 4.02 under XP and the 21.83 detonators! At least I see 2 of my bugs have been fixed in the 4.03 it shows that E-on is listening. :) Cheers!
Thread: CG Focus Giveaway: 3Dlabs Wildcat II 5000! | Forum: Vue
Well, I am already sending the Wildcat card to the winner and I installed a QuadroDCC last week and it runs like a charm in Vue...I hope the 4.03 won't screw it up hehe. Cheers!

Yeah it's the same 'ol OpenGL thingy...tried 2 different drivers and even in compatibility mode. The card is great but a tad pricey for DCC and I didn't see much of a difference with my GeForce2 GTS. In LightWave and 3ds max it's a different story. :) Cheers!

Hey all, The giveaway is over...in fact it took a few minutes only to find a winner! :) Mike, I tested it with Vue and since there was the same issue as with my GeForce2 I decided not to mention it...it is definately a Vue issue. However, it runs great so far with the QuadroDCC, my new favorite card! Oh! i run it with the 21.83 and I would love to see a version of Vue that takes advantage of such a card cuase it eats even more polygons than the Wildcat in about any 3D software! Cheers!
Thread: Lightwave Import surface problem | Forum: Vue
hehe don't worry, I have seen "full support for LW" in many software but it turns out to be the opposite. :) Cheers!
Thread: Lightwave Import surface problem | Forum: Vue
LWO2 or LW6.x has a much better UVmap info and offers a lot more features than the LW5.x format...and one thing that most softwae makers forget is that LW supports quad polygons which in most cases makes files a lot smaller than in triangles. Cheers!
Thread: Lightwave Import surface problem | Forum: Vue
There was the LW 5.x then the 6.x and now the 7.x series in the last years, all of them got substantial improvements which made them incompatible...you can export to 5.x from both 6.x and 7.x. I really don't see the point of not supporting the 6.x format at least since it's the most popular format, I don't know much of my friends and studios that still uses version 5. Cheers!
Thread: Lightwave Import surface problem | Forum: Vue
Hi Luca, I export objects to LW6.5b fine, it saves the terrain, a texture for the color channel and one for the bump channel and when I load the LWO in LW it works fine. The only thing that doesn't work properly is DEM exports, most of them gets artifacts once written in LWO. Finally, the resolution of the texture map is really low quality so it's best to composite the Vue scenes in LW a bit like we do with Terragen and LW2TG. Cheers!
Thread: OpenGL problem SOLVED !!! | Forum: Vue
Woohoo! the problem is solved here too but unfortunately it's temporary since I need to give back the card in a few weeks! :( I installed a QuadroDCC with the 21.83 drivers and just tried Vue, it works like a charm, I have no redraw problems! So, I had the redraw problems with both my GeForce2 GTS and the 3Dlabs Wildcat II 5000 and it's running perfect with the QuadroDCC so there is definately a bug somewhere. Btw, if you want the best card for under 1000$ for DCC you won't find a better one than the DCC, you will see in my review in 2 weeks. :) Cheers!
