-- was away at a conference for a couple days -- Thanks! A bummer P4/ProPack can't do it, but some day, hopefully, I'll get P5. In the meantime, RubiconDigital, I'll give LithUnwrap a look-see. It looks promising. Too bad they don't have it for linux [grin].

Ah, alas. So the preferred method, I assume, would still be as I previously read where one repeatedly doubles the size of the object (as seen in UVMapper), then aligns the "top left" corner of the object to be tiled with the top left of the display in UVMapper. I take it that P5 lets you tile a texture?

Yes, same here - past couple of days. I'd tried everything I could think of; cleared cache, cookies, checked and changed my preference settings (thought the kids or my wife maybe had changed them), all made no difference. Kind of a bummer though. I much prefer Netscape over IE. :}

...it only happens when I'm trying to view Renderosity. It works just fine viewing other sites. (I'm not pointing fingers, just not sure why it's happening).

herr67 - Babelfish link - Thanks! Wow, this is like a whole new level I didn't know was out there. Looking at some of these sites of digital IDOLS I had no idea were so popular. This is cool! I agree some of the stuff they did in Shrek was just incredible. Faces and exressions were excellent. Then there was a scene where the donkeys fur is being blown by the wind - wow. The software and hardware to do that would be awesome to have. And here I am clicking on the "Windows Resources Are Low" warning button again...

Well bummer. I was hoping she was a free download. 'Course, maybe she'll be the next eP6Fem ? [hopeful grin!] That is really cool that they have interviews and stuff like that on TV. It'll be interesting to see what happens with Poser now they've merged (or are going to merge) Curious and eFrontier. Hmm. Virtual Girlfriends and IDOLS. Wonder if it would catch on here in the US... Fei Fei is a great looking character, IMHO. That SamSung mpeg was very well done.

Some people just avoid the joint angles that cause it to look odd. Some people take care of it in postwork. Some people spend a lot of time (at first) working with the various morph dials for the two connected parts (upper arm, lower arm, for example) to get it to look "right". Eventually you get to kinda "know" what dials to set to correct certain odd looking joints. In certain cases you can use lighting and shadowing to offset the odd look. Personally I think it comes down to using combinations of the above. And then again, there are just certain pose positions that we learn to avoid altogether. Sometimes also, it's a matter of which character you use. Some characters have better characteristics in bending in certain ways. Oddly enough, for example, I'm of the opinion that the ol' P4Male's thumb has better bending characteristics than Mil'Mike does - try bending their thumbs to hold a coin in the palm of their hand and you'll see what I mean. My .02 worth. :)

PS - they have a really cool mpeg by SamSung on their site featuring FeiFei. Kinda cool, worth checking out.

A note about a question sent to me by email - if you don't want the swashbuckler style guard, you can go to the materials for the sword and set the 'guard' so it's totally transparent.
