**Do not, I repeat do not, uninstall Poser 7
**The worst is yet to come, wait till you discover all the library problems ! Then you'll really have something to rant about.
I've given up till I hear cheerfull reports that everything is fixed and working, untill then I'm re-installing Poser 7. Â

Thread: Poser 8 strife | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
There are some answers coming out of the woodwork and I find I'm not alone with the textures not applying when P7 library items are used. Some users are now posting band aid workarounds to the issue such as applying the textures in the material room or renaming the Cr2 files to lower case for P8 which apparently does not recognise Upper case letters in its file extensions. Until a bug fix service pack is released I feel we are in creative limbo. I really dont want to install all my desired files into Poser 7 and then have to repeat the procedure over again when P8 finally becomes useable. Basically I want everything to work seamlessly in one program, not by constanly opening and closing different versions. I work on graphics with PC's all day but I'm basically just the driver not the mechanic. If the machine is not working by the book, I have to call the testichological wizards to fix it.Â
I did look into the external runtimes posts as a fix but the process was too tekkie for me and then thought I was pretty smart by installing P7 on a PC and then copying and pasting the runtime folder onto my external F drive. It worked ! ,until I tried unzipping and installing stuff to it.
Please Mr Smith get your finger out and get some major bug fixes happening.

Thread: Value for $$ clothing vendors | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Just a little reply from me....... When I originally got Poser 4 it was just for work purposes to create silhouettes for vinyl cutting. Later I side tracked and progressed into making a few hobby comics. These days I have been using it in my design work for safety posters and digital printed workplace signs. Definitely these designs require everyday type wear and often I resort to G2 characters, even sometimes P4 in the background as their wardrobes are pretty ordinary. It would be nice to use third and fourth gen Daz figures but hard to find non fantasy outfits especially as freebies. There is a place for more real life clothes but as trekkiegirl explained it is not where the money is. The website link was appreciated and I'll check it out thoroughly later tonite.

Thread: Batch convert to Universal Poses | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I saw that in Poser 8 but was too scared to ask. Hopefully more posters will chip in and de-mystify it further. I'm always interested in new toys for poser and this sounds handy if it does what I think it does.

Thread: Poser 8 strife | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sorry guys, I didn't mean to open a war of fighting words.............
I had uninstalled P7 and deleted all folders 3 days ago, done because the libraries were a mess with a lot of items in wrong places etc. Poser 8 was supposed to be my fresh new start.
I re-installed Poser 7 today to make use of its folders for lesser used items but seems some random things such as poses and cameras from P7 just wont work, you can apply them in P8Â but "no go ". That problem is still my main question.
My original content hoarded over the last few years is stored mostly on CD's, DVD's and recently a 1TB external drive and you guessed it, many older zips and files do not have PNG's.
I have P3do pro and yes it does convert the rsr's. It can also view the contents of zips and install them into Poser's runtime. I'm testing that facility at the moment, so far so good.

Best catalog program for my money (free)is 3dOExplorer you can find it here by searching freestuff. I would be lost without it, the interface is easy and quick to use, you can just open in another window while Poser is running. Tommy.
Thread: CL Throws up its hands... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It's been some time now since I last posted here, nobody seems very interested in any other topic but Poser 5 complaints. Tonite I feel like adding my feelings ,well you guessed it! I didn't rush out and buy P5 as I probably would need a new computer too, knowing of all the freezing and other gliches in P4 that were never successfully fixed by CL, I wasn't in a big rush to lay out big bucks on a new system and software, prefering to wait for other opinions and hopefully some good reports. After a month of reading the gripes here I'm now convinced I don't need P5 plus I also need a way to make some real money from my computer which I can't see happening no matter how good you are with Poser. There is more to life than stressing over this expensive, badly constructed and bug-ridden program which is supposed to provide recreation and satisfy our creative urges.
I'll stick with my P4 despite its temprament but I've now spent the P5 and new system bucks on a vinyl sign cutting machine that I know will have a decent chance of earning me a few dollars.

Dont laugh! but I've had that link for quite a while and use it when the grandkids need to be amused, they have a ball creating and printing their fantasy characters and it keeps the 10 year old g/d from flirting on the adult chat rooms. Tommy.

Hi JPX, I think I might have beat littledragon to this answer... LOL. Try the free section at Runtime DNA, go to the last page and work your way back about 5 pages, there are at least 2 morphing beach sand props and a ouple more beach related items. The amount of work and composition is terrific, most definitely continue! A slight letdown is some horizontal shadow lines across the figures and something unidentifiable on the floor forward of the table? Perhaps a Bryce user could give some helpful lighting advice in that area or you might be able to try rendering with the Vue d Esperit 2 program on the cover disc of the latest Digit magazine. Keep at it, I'll be keen to see your finished result. Tommy.
Thread: Looking for poser photos to honor 9/11 HEROES | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi Steve, you have wonderful sincere intentions but be careful please. There were a lot of free scrollsaw patterns posted on the web early in the year depicting the firemen etc. They all had to be removed after copyright infringement threats from various attornies representing photographers and newspapers etc. I believe the "flag raising" photo was the biggest and most identifiable issue. Regards, Tommy.

Thanks everyone, especially Yarp. I can't say I was looking forward to renaming all the pz files individually but already have the indispensable P3dO and can't live without it, heading straight to freestuff for the plugin now. Tommy.

Thread: Looking for a prop ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi cooler, yep the search did come up rather empty although I did find a tubular folding chair that I'll use. Thanks for the modelling offer, I do have a set of original wire chairs in my backyard and can send a couple of digital pics in the morning for you to look at and would appreciate a model if not too difficult or time consuming. Thanks, Tommy.
