Thread: UGH!!! Sooo frustrated. Please help. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - look in runtime/libraries/!Daz/V4toV3 folder .
If the folder is missing run the bat file again.
Hi Markshum
Apologies for the delay in responding (I'm only an occasional Poser user)
I have no /V4toV3 folder. I did a reinstall of the original Daz V4.2 morphs install in both my P6 and P8 runtimes (I still use the P6 runtime for convenience) but there is still no V4toV3 folder in either. I even did a fresh download of the purchased product from the DAZ website (Incidentally, how does the supposed DAZ uninstaller work? When I reinstalled I ticked the box to establish the uninstall routine but I can't find it anywhere!! How is it put into effect?)
Anyway, back to the problem. I have the V4.2toV3 figure in DAZ People folder (in my P6 runtime but not in P8 runtime - only the V4.2 figure is in my P8 for some unknown reason)
Any tips as to how I can overcome this and get the V4toV3 figure working?
One other thing: if and when I do get this folder showing up, do I run the .bat file before or after starting Poser and how do I run it inside Poser?

Quote - This issue has been posted in the past and I believe that you need to run the V4V3.bat file to generate those missing files. The hierarchy is Runtime>Libraries>!DAZ>DzCreateExpFiles-V4V3.bat. Be aware, you will not have full body morphing capacity for your V4-V3 model. Head and expressions morphs is about all you are going to get with this. IMO, this is really a totally worthless option with very limited options.
After many frustrations (and going nearly bald with tearing my hair out!) I discovered your comment after a search to see if others had this problem with getting V4toV3 to work.
I've tried running the batch file you suggested but I still get the same non-performing result! In the absence of any meaningful documentation from DAZ (which would have been helpful if they had deigned to provide it). how do I get this working?
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the V4 files (incidentally, what exactly is DAZ's 'uninstall' routine - again, their is no documentation as to how to do this!) but I still can't get the damned thing to work properly!
Any help much appreciated

Just straight V4.2 (with morphs) I've generally been quite dissappointed with V4 because it's difficult to make her look like anything other than like Angelina Jolie (hence the reason I still use V3 a lot - especially for the more mature female).
This is the result of struggling for many hours trying to give V4 a bit of character! The textures are Aramantha
Glad you like her!

Quote - Based on my Runtime, the Mac file has the extension ".command"
You should find it in the "!DAZ" folder.
Sorry, no such file available on any of my runtimes or their subfolders. Was this within the V4+ morphs package or the developers package (which I've not installed)?

Hmmm! Thanks for that - just confirms to me what a waste of space many of Daz's files are! :-(
Frank, Just a thought to follow up; is there the equivalent for the other way round, i.e. a morph for V3's head to go on V4's body and using V4's textures?

Quote - > Quote - While loading it I get a message "Please locate "V4toV3BODYGrps.pz2".
This figure has a channel preparation script just like the V4 figure. This script needs to be run atleast once before the figure can be used.
Look "DzCreateExPFiles-V4V3.bat" (or Mac equivalent) in the Runtime where you have the figure installed and run it.
Hi nruddock
Many thanks for the tip. However, I've searched both my P6 and P8 runtimes and no such file can be found. I'm using P8 on Win XP; is this something for Mac installations?

Thread: Poser8 suddenly not behaving - AT ALL! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Oh - I forgot - there is tactic #4:
- Hire Bagginsbill
Yep - okee.
Hey Bill, I thought you were on the Smith Micro development team (your 'real' name is set out on Poser's opening flash screen)!
Incidentally, I did get a response from SM suggesting all sorts of workarounds except the simple 'spacebar' solution. I responded saying that (through this forum) I'd solved it (using Spacebar) and suggested they post this as an answer to the problem on their FAQ's. Apparently their engineer's are looking into why this happens and will report back further.
I'll keep you posted

Sincere apologies Geep, I meant you! (I wrote my response perhaps too hastily in order to get it posted speedily and didn't check exactly)
Sorreee!!! (to quote a well-used Canuck word!)

Thanks to BagginsBill and Gimp!
Yes, pressing the Spacebar does solve it! (I'd be interestedto know why - it's just SO illogical!)
BTW, having done a reinstallation and then pressed the spacebar to get P8 working properly, in the process of establishing my preferred settings I kept getting a Poser program shutdown for no apparent reason. This appears to be happening with increasing frequency and when it occurs the shutdown screen appears for between two and four times until the program eventually does shutdown. I expect M'Soft are getting quite p....d off with Poser users reporting this so often!
Although I like P8 (and have got used to it's quirks like the one above) I can't help feeling that there is still something seriously wrong with it's programming for incidents like this to occur all the time

Quote - If you have a graphics program such as Gimp, Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro I would suggest posting a screen capture of your Poser 8 screen showing what it looks like when this problem occurs. This could help in narrowing down the cause.
I could do this but it wouldn't show any meaningful information. Nothing is visible on the preview screen (except the ususal background colour) yet the character/object/whatever is shown as installed.
Thanks for your input.
I've now raised this with Smith Micro support - awaiting reply. If I get a solution, I'll report back

Quote - If any Microsoft updates got installed recently (i.e. yesterday) I'd try reinstalling the latest graphics drivers just to be sure that they haven't been disturbed.
No Windows updates have been installed since I last ran P8 successfully a couple of days ago (I always manually download Win updates after being advised automatically by M'soft that one is there)
Also, I have no graphics problems at all with my other 3D programs (Vue and tSpace)
This is definitely a Poser program problem (- unless anyone can say otherwise ;-))
