I use LR2 on a regular basis for my workflow, in conjuction with CS3 and it works well. I probably use it for about 90% of my processing of raw files, CS3 doesn't get much of a workout anymore.  I also no longer use a separate cataloging software to organize my photos as LR seems to do a fine job of it.
I do have to say that I have noticed it's a bit slower on my system the LR1.4 was however, I think my desktop system is close to 3 years old now and could use some upgrading.Â

Well yes I guess it has been a very long time hasn't it....... Martin, Bruce, Kort & Danny..... How've you all been?
I've been good, busy, and happy and I guess that's all that really matters. Right? The place where you'll find me most these days is over at the DWF (www.digitalweddingforum.com), no time for much else......Â
I'm amazed that someone actually found this thread, and went to my website because of it......
Can I ask what Stats software you are using, I might be able to use one that can do that!
I'm using StatCounter, as well as Google Analytics. Both are free, but I've been using StatCounter for a while now. I really like it...... I think you might too.
Bye all!
Michelle

This really is sad news. Cyn put her heart into helping run the photo forum and gallery, and she did it magnificently. She'll always have my respect, admiration and friendship.

Hmmm.... I suspected as much. I just happen to be around in the forum to read some things, before they mysteriously disappeared. I saw his Home Page before it got annihilated a day or so later..... Sorry to say but he was one of the very few reasons I even bothered coming here anymore. His gallery made me smile... and could go on and on about his wit and humor, but what's the point.... he can't read my words. Why am I even posting this? Such a waste of time..... sigh Feel free to delete this post if it's felt to be to contentious or rabble rousing please.... Yep, guess I'm angry.... and I guess I really am out of here for good..... not that anyone will care. Most of the people in here don't even know who the hell I am anyway......

Hmmm.... I haven't done much of anything here in a long time, so I'll bite. smile As always, my opinions are only that.... opinions.....
Were they mine....
#1 I would toss... not interesting imo... faces turned away... eyes can't be seen.
#2 Not bad.... could be sharper? Hard to tell at this size...
#3 Very nice! Love the expression.... wish the leg were not cut off out of the right side of frame.
Edit.... realized that is the tail.... not the leg that is poking out of the frame on the right side....

Well FWIW..... I ended up going with a Domke F-2 Original.... it's huge with lots of pockets and holds 2 slrs, along with my 3 lenses and flash unit, a lightmeter, a diffusion dome and a myriad of other accessories like batteries, film, etc.....Unfortunately it's so heavy with gear that it does not go into the woods with me, but it has become my daily work bag. Location shooting means I never know what I'll need until I get there, so I have to have everything with me.
I've learned that hiking means traveling light with minimal gear.
What I like about the Domke is that it's a shoulder bag, and everything is easily accessible unlike my backpack which has to be taken off my back before I can get at anything.
The link is to their catalog..... they have a nice selection of smaller bags as well..
I'll also second a vote for Tamrac.... they make great bags as well.....

Thread: Blur | Forum: Photography

"I was told, pity about the blur in the background." Why would you want to eliminate the blur? Because someone uttered the statement in quotations above? Seems to me the person who said it, doesn't have much of an understanding of some of the basic concepts of photography. And while I would not consider this photo to be actual "macro" photography, it is a "close-up" and the same applies. Shallow depth of field is the norm. As an aside, when working with macro/close-up where such shallow dof prevail ... the point of focus becomes very important.... your focus here is not quite on the insect but on the petal 1/2" or so below..... your ladybug isn't as sharp as she could be. Here's an article that "might" help.....I am, therefore I create.......
