Hi Snarlygribbly,
That's great news! I'm so pleased to hear Gérald is in good spirits. I'll see if I can find/make some VWD examples for posting in the future. Hopefully others will too.
Do you have any yourself?
Not yet, but they are coming :)
I've been writing some scripts to convert Mixamo animations to be used with Poser figures. They're almost done, and then it'll be fairly easy to play with VWD effectively.

Thread: VWD users | Forum: Virtual World Dynamics
If you click on "Virtual World Dynamics faq" near the top of the page, there seem to be no other threads than yours (Snarlygribbly), BUT if you change the start date to some time ago (eg 2020) and click "browse archives" you'll see there are dozens of threads and lots of people using VWD over recent years. I suspect you didn't get much response to your post because it is very open-ended! (and, as MikeO says, Gérald the creator of VWD has had some personal problems recently otherwise he would likely have replied. We wish him well).
Hiya - my post was quite deliberately open-ended. I don't have any specific issues or questions and just wanted to see if there was any kind of active community around this software.
I was lucky enough to have Gérald and his wife come to stay with me for a few days earlier this year, and I was pleased to find him in good spirits and we were even able to do some fairly energetic walks on the moors. It was clear from our conversations that the main reason (now) for any lack of engagement is the complete absence of any feedback - there are no images posted, no videos of animations being made, no vibrant community discussions. These things matter a lot to any creator, especially one whose talents mean that there are many other projects to which attention might be given, projects that would be more satisfying both in terms of financial reward and community engagement.
So, as I might be seeing Gerald again later this year, I was hoping to be able to report a resurgence in our love for VWD.
Anyway, I'm going to carry on exploring its possibilities on my own, but it would have been nice to do so as part of a thriving community.

I'd be happy to update EZSkin with new shaders, presets and UI, if others were willing to be involved.

Good news - Mixamo is completely free, and doesn't require a subscription. Give it a go :)@Snarlygribbly I had never heard of Mixamo. Had to google it, could tell if it was a paid thing or not? Being adobe, I imagine you need one of their subscription plans though. I do have VWD though. Would be interested to see what your coming up with. I have been wanting to get back into 3D rendering and delve into animation but keep putting it off because of how daunting it feels.

Hi everyone,
News does get around, doesn't it? :)
Anyway, I am home now and, hopefully, on the road to recovery.
I'm also looking forward to getting back to Poser - the medical issues have meant that I haven't been able to play with Poser for a few days.
Before I went into hospital, I was having fun with animations - something I'd never explored before!
I have been able to make Poser-compatible BVH files from the excellent Mixamo animations (I had to go back to scripting to do that), and am now exploring the amazing VWD product (available in the store here) by my friend Gérald. Is there anybody else doing anything similar? It would be fun to have someone to talk to about Mixamo and VWD, is all.
Cheers,
Snarly

Thread: Enhanced Shadow catcher? | Forum: Poser 13
EZDome works fine in Poser 13.
I have been using it myself with no problem.
I have also converted the Poser 13 HDRI starting scenes to EZDome scenes.
Also, I get better shadows with EZDome - the Poser 13 shadow catcher is making shadows much sharper than the other shadows in the scene.
Still, the Poser 13 shadow catcher is much easier to use than EZDome, so that's a good thing.

Thread: Arrange nodes script | Forum: Poser 13
Hello,
Sadly, Structure died some time ago, so there will be no more updates to this script.
When he began developing it, I did give him a whole bunch of code as a starting point. it looks like he added some options and a user interface, which is good.
When I get the chance, I'll take a look and see if there's anything that needs fixing.

Thanks for the very lovely welcome back :)
I'm having a lot of fun exploring this fab new version of Poser, and looking forward to being part of this great community of artists again.
I don't know if I'll be doing any coding this time around - I'm just enjoying digging through my old runtimes to remember what's in them.
I did find a couple of unreleased scripts, but the date last updated on them is 2020, so it might be best to leave them alone now.
For now, I just want to start making pictures again :)

Thread: Show your Poser 13 renders! | Forum: Poser 13
So… I did my first render in gazillions of years, it seems :)
This was just to check that stuff was properly installed and working.
A few folk from an ancient runtime got to play together on a hillside.
I have to admit - I've almost forgotten how to use Poser, but it's coming back to me.

I'm happy :)Wow, thank you for fixing all of that so quickly.
Like with SceneFixer, I've uploaded it and listed it as EZSkin 3.1 (Updated version maintained by Y-Phil).
Hopefully yourself and Snarly are happy with that, if either of you wish for any changes please let me know.I also included the installation instructions and the original manuals from EZSkin in the zip too.

I'd like to thank Y-Phil for keeping these scripts alive.
Kudos to the Poser community.

Dear @Snarlygribbly would you mind to give me the source code of the Scene Fixer? I mean: on cobrablade, the zip only contains the .pyc.I'm happy to share the uncompiled source code of any of my scripts to anyone who wants it.
Most of it is already available, I think.
Thank you in advance.
PM me an email address, and I'll send it.

EZDOME
I'm hosting a Zoom meeting on Saturday, 2nd October @ 10pm UTC+1 (5pm New York time) for a few EZDome users.
It's mostly going to be an informal chat about how to get the most of the script, but it'll also be a fun chance to meet some of you.
If you want to join in, just send me a sitemail and if there's still enough room I'll send you an invite :)
I want to keep the meeting small and friendly, so there's only a few places available…
