No one is saying you need to switch to another program, that is yet another lie about Studio supporters and their posts that won't die around here. You make a lot of good points for why you personally should stick to Gen 4 figures and Poser. All I want to do is clear up misinformation (that Studio has no manual and the interface is always terrible in this case). I used Poser for years and have no problem with the software.

I didn't say it was perfect and I agree that Studio needs full documentation, but I learned Studio from it and so have a lot of other people. It is more than Glitterati said was available (none). The video tutorials explain a lot of the missing parts too.

Saying that there is no documentation at all and that the interface is blinding and gawd-awful when it can be fixed is a LIE, and attempting to prove that it isn't so is not being unreasonable and aggressive.

Of course, if were criticizing a DAZ product instead of defending one, my comment would have been considered just fine...

Studio 4's interface can be made to look very similar to the previous versions, you just have to switch to the Darkside style and customize the interface a little (which you can do to great extent, including adding Poser-like "rooms").

Whether people want to use V4 or Genesis is up to them of course, but I do wish merchants here would consider making more Genesis products. Just as some people like to point out that they haven't spent much at DAZ since they introduced Genesis, I haven't spent a cent here in months because I finally did switch to using Genesis and no longer want V4 stuff.

I recently went from a 37" LCD TV at 1920x1080 to a 27" 2560x1440 IPS monitor...the monitor is much clearer and nicer, but text at that size makes my eyes bleed. Finally getting used to viewing everything at 125% zoom and enlarged Windows icons and such. I tried multiple monitors, it just wasn't for me.  ;)

Thanks hborre for giving him the link to my site, I'm sorry I didn't notice this thread until now. Between DAZ's complete rearranging of their store and my removal of my stuff from this site, I decided to put everything there so it could be found in one place and kept up to date.

No, you do not see threads in the DAZ forums attacking Smith Micro's business practices and software, nor do you see threads filled with speculation about how many customers Smith Micro/Renderosity/any Poser-focused website must be losing.

What was even the point of this thread? To speculate how Genesis (a figure very few of you here can or wish to use) might be hurting DAZ (a company that many here have turned away from because you say they're not supporting Poser well enough now)? If anything, this should have been in the DAZ Studio forum.

I don't know if this will help anyone, but I just posted a tutorial on how to change the default Studio interface to one that is easier to deal with. I'm only mentioning it here because you still have to use Studio to prepare Genesis for Poser use, and having a better interface might make that part a little less unpleasant.  :)

I think it may have something to do with Studio's auto-fitting and smoothing settings, you don't usually want the nipples and navel to affect how clothing fits unless it's an ultra skin-tight suit, so it's safer just to let you choose when to make them visible or not (plus you can adjust the parameter values of each if they have dials).

Oh, for anyone who wants to try some Genesis morphs before buying any official sets, there are a whole bunch of them in this free set:

I haven't installed them and am not sure if they come over to Poser like other morphs, but it's the biggest free set that I know of.

edited: I just decided to install them now and they are definitely worth it.  Very good shaping and individual scaling morphs and a few that aren't in any of the DAZ sets.
