@rocket: I'll give you a hint...
she was the first figure to get weight mapped(not that she needed it) aside from the native poser figures in Pro2012.

Thread: Using Genesis 2 in PoserPro 2012 WITHOUT dson? Anybody know how? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
...Otherwise, Dimension3D created a script to import duf and dsa files without the DSON Importer. http://d3d.sesseler.de/index.php?software=poserpython&product=dson_loader
This script requies the DSON Importer. It is a utility for loading DSON files that lack Poser Companion files...
I thought that's what it did (d3d's script)! At least I can now use a few items that I bought BEFORE reading the part about them being DS only...derp! :P Thanks, Wanda!
@ssgbryan: you make some very valid points! I don't mind using DS long enough to transfer some items, I just don't feel like using it on a permanent basis (unless Poser goes away forever). I've spent a lot of free time over the years getting to know Poser and I just plain like it better than DS. As for cost effectiveness... yeah, I already bought DSON and it DOES work. I just wondered how hard it would be to make G2 native and I agree now, why bother? I haven't used G2 that much, so some of the issues you've pointed out are things I wasn't aware of. Thanks!

Thread: making money making content? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
In all the years I've spent with Poser, I've only created one freebie (for Antonia at ShareCG). Making the product was a blast! Providing follow-up tech support for an issue that both I and my beta testers missed was very disheartening. NO ONE that downloaded it said anything to me directly! It was by sheer luck that I came across the problem in a random forum post. Without that post, my product would still have the bad issue today. Any new downloaders would probably see it and go "what IS this crap!?!"
This made me realize that being a vendor takes a lot of hard work, valuable time and dedication. Even with that, you're still at the mercy of demographics and a customer base that doesn't always tell you if you're doing something wrong. Honestly, I don't know how all of you vendors do it!
I AM glad that you do though! As for me, I may make more freebies at some point but, only when I know that I will have the follow-up time to support it.

Thread: OT Lost 2 years of poserprojects and content by computerscammers | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
heh... I actually got one of these calls about two months ago. His angle was that "Microsoft wanted to test a new malware removal tool on select customers". I told him that I use Malware Bytes regularly (which I do) and if that can't fix it, then I just reload the OS. No biggie. What he said next had me laughing out loud... "Sir! You can't do that! It's illegal to install your own OS. You have to use a licensed technician!" When I asked him to direct me to the legal section of Microsoft's website to clarify that, he hung up.

5 definitely!
Lali's Bits is a pretty amazing package. Once I figured out how to dial back all the things I didn't want, I was amazed at how real some of my V4 characters looked. Especially with SSS!

Thank you! I kinda figured a head morph/FBM might be better. At least in terms of saving some memory. I've heard of this before and just forgot it.

Thread: Another Dud from DAZ | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've seen a few posts regarding DSON requiring DS to be installed to use.
This is not true.
DSON plays quite well with PoserPro2012 on my (gasp)Vista machine, and I don't have DS installed.
I've been playing with Gen1 for a bit... it's okay. Not the greatest replacement for V4 though IMHO.
From what I'm reading about V6/Gen2 here and in the product decriptions over at DAZ, I'd say it's definitely a dud for those already using Gen1. More hoops to jump through for clothing and hair AND textures? COME ON!!

Thread: the Dawn of a new day... | Forum: Freestuff
Quote - Together, this could be the beginning of something truly remarkable.
Thank you LaurieA for this heads up! :)
It's cool to see another new and free human model on the rise. This takes me back to the days of Antonia and all of the community involvment... great times. As one of the content creators for Antonia, I'd like to give HiveWire 3D some pratical advice.
Why? Well, hopefully to help keep Dawn in the spotlight a little bit longer than Antonia. It would be easy to say the release of Genesis/V5 shoved Antonia out of the way but, in my opinion it was a lot more than that.
For starters, PLEASE don't release Dawn until she is 110% ready. Yeah, she will be free but, if she's not complete then she will probably fail. Why do I sound negative here? Probably because I've already witnessed the almost complete disappearance of (hands down) the best bending human model to ever load natively into Poser. And with a weight mapped version too. Yup, Antonia.
A few more points on Dawn:
have her beta tested to the point she "squeeels lahk a pig". I mean, test her in every way you can think of (IE: animation, walk cycles, proportion scaling, extreme bending/posing, morphing limits... and??).
try to make the the UV mapping as user friendly as possible (thinking of Victoria 2 or 3 here). The less seams, the better.
including visemes in the release (instead of later) would be a VERY good idea. As far as I know, Antonia is STILL speechless.
Mainly, avoid releasing several versions of her within 6 months of her first appearance. With Antonia, a lot of users were confused over which release did what and which UV map was the best (Antonia has 2) to use.
Bottom line, even with an officially released version, Antonia is still not complete to this day. I still use her because I enjoy the tinkering that is sometimes necessary to get her to work right. My guess is a lot of users would rather not have to deal with that... and I don't blame them.
Good luck with Dawn, HiveWire. I'm looking forward to rendering and animating her.
And... THANK YOU for offering her up for free!

Thread: Victoria-3 Weightmapped - Download here | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Joe, thanks for doing this!!! My attempts at weight mapping V3 so far have been laughable at best.
Sadly, I can't get the decode process to work for nothing. I even reset my Daz download of V3 SAE and re-installed it. No dice. It's determined to not like any version of the blMilWom_v3.obj that I point it to.
Is it absolutely necessary to decode this? As far as I can tell, the only thing shared here is a cr2 that YOU created. Does Daz have an issue with sharing cr2's? Even without the base geometry file?

Thread: Hair for Antonia | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Over at RDNA, Netherworks has a new hair system that works great for Antonia as well as many other figures. Do a store search there for "NWS-HairConversionSystem-2012".
The only issue with that system is, with certain conforming hairs, they will severely distort if Antonia's hips are rotated in any direction. For a lot of poses, you can rotate the 'body' instead.

So quiet here! I wonder where everyone has gone?
Cool animation, Les!
I still lurk in here a lot. I've been quite busy putting the finishing touches on a new release for Antonia. I figure a year and a half between releases is time enough LOL. It would have been out closer to Christmas had a hard drive crash not happened :( Nothing screams orgasmic like having to create the same skin texture TWICE!! woo-hoo!
HINT: a new character and skimpy clothing will be involved. ;)

Just look for one of Cage's posts. He has links to the script in his signature.
I'll warn ya though, it's rather tricky to get great results with (at least it was for me).
