Yeah, it won't help with the IDL artifacts, but I'm glad you found the reflection part useful :)

Yes, but differently. When the light stop bouncing it just uses whatever color it has picked up from bouncing around. If it didn't hit anything, it will return whatever is in the background shader. This won't ever happen if you are using an envirosphere or some such.
I've used this technique similar to a Diffuse IBL light for compositing in post ( to help a figure feel more integrated into whatever photo you want to composite with ) but without an actual light emitting environment, the results aren't very pronounced, just less washed out than a default solid color. So I still needed to add supplemental 'not-visible-in-camera' emitters.

Quote - looks good. Note that the bounce is a max cut-off, if it doesn't need all of them, they won't be used. According to me, the inner upper side of the right thigh suggest that you can use more, just try 8 or 16 or so. Perhaps an area render will reduce the time to get this sorted.
When the bounce reaches its max cutoff it resorts to using the background value. That is usually black by default, hence the black spots. You can plug the image for your environment sphere, through a sphere mapped node there for a better looking cheat with fewer bounces.

Must be a video card issue. I can get rid of it if I switch to Sreed and it applies to both the 64 and 32 bit versions. Oh well.
I've decided I'm happy with the decision regardless. It'll meet my needs. :)

"Wasn't Gladys Clump the nosey neighbor across the street in Bewitched?"
I just did an IMDB check. I'm wrong. The nosy neighbor was Gladys Kravits, and there are no 'famous' Gladys Clumps there either. But now she's famous here. :)

Wasn't Gladys Clump the nosey neighbor across the street in Bewitched? I have to second CobaltDragon's sentiments, but I am surprised narcissus didn't pick his own name. :-D

I am, and always have been, Batronyx. My first venture into the online world was on AOL back in '94/'95 (somewhere in there) and I had to choose a screen name. All of the variations on my real name required a number stuck on the end ( yuck! I didn't want to be the 4377th bbowen ). My first cat was a black one named Onyx. Several of my interests seem to be associated with bats ( mostly Batman and various vampires ) so I stuck 'em together. I also liked the way it rhymed with 'electronics', further reflecting my interests in all things technical. I made a logo of sorts you can see on my artist page that further reflects these interests.
I've also had batronyx.com since '96 but don't break your neck to get over there or anything. It's been mostly a vanity thing as it's never been attached to an IP address until this year and I still haven't done much with it, although I have a few plans, including a couple of freebies I've been working on and the requisite gallery. ;)

She's lookin good! . . . um . . . for her intended purpose. On that note, if you go to a bar and actually see her there, keep your alchohol consumption to a minimum. :-D Sorry, I couldn't resist. :)
