I'm inclined to agree. To all intents & purposes pixel count is now as high as it needs to be for the vast majority of photographers.
Greatly increased dynamic range will, hopefully, be the next thing that manufacturers concentrate on.

The 50D certainly looks like an impressive camera - makes me wonder just what Canon are going to come up with for the 5 MK II.

Many thanks for selecting another one of my images for LWITG - I really appreciate being amongst such a superb display of photographic artistry.

Congrats on the break!
I would suggest that you clarify the copyright issue though - apart from anything else it should make a significant difference to the price. Plus of course, if you retain the copyright then you can always re-use the images again!

Thread: Canon 400D with EF-S18-55 - opinions anyone? | Forum: Photography
My previous camera was (still is!!) a Canon EOS 50E, so when I decided to go digital the choice was easy - buy a Canon or replace all of my lenses!
Not wanting to make the jump straight to a "semi-pro" I opted for the 400D, and haven't regretted it once. It has all of the feautures & abilities that I require for my (mostly landscape) photography, & crucially it has the ability to save RAW as well as jpeg.
I echo the comments above about handling before buying. I have quite large hands, and one review that I read said that the 400 body was too small, with awkwardly placed controls for those with larger hands. I can honestly say that I have never found that to be an issue - all of the controls fall easily to hand, and I find the camera easy to handle.
So would I recommend the 400D - unequivocally, but I wish they hadn't brought the 40 out so soon after I bought it!!!! :-)

Soz for not chipping in sooner - been away from the PC for a few days. :bored:
My vote (not surprisingly) would be for the Roaches - but I fully understand if that's too far North for most folks.
Enjoy Westonbirt!!  Â

Or of course, there is nothing preventing us from having more than one meet, if it's not possible to get everybody together in one location.   Â
Thread: Renderosity and encouragement to possible members. | Forum: Photography
I checked out DeviantArt a long time ago - however as I had no desire to have my lovingly created CG image referred to as a "deviance expelled from the collective rectum" I took no further action!!! :-)
I think in most people's minds RR IS about CG and overly pneumatic females. A shame really, as there are some good images making their way onto here.

Definitely interested - but only if not too far South.
I'm in central Cheshire, so Shropshire / Staffordshire ideal:
The Roaches
Rudyard lake
Moreton Corbett castle
Stiperstones / Devil's Chair
Hawkstone Park & Follies
Just a few suggestions :-)
Alternatively, any others in this general area - no shortage of excellent locations around here.

Thread: Terragen to Photography | Forum: Photography
I started photography over 35 years ago, and only stopped five or so years back when I started spending a lot of time with Terragen. I tried MojoWorld, but rapidly got fed-up with weekend long render times(!!). I've been a keen user of Vue since V4, and now have V6I together with Poser 6. I've posted a lot of images on R'Osity, both under my own name and also as Lord Wexford, my original artist name.
However, just lately I'm spending less & less time on the PC, and more time out there in the real world. I've recently treated myself to a Canon 400D (excellent camera!) and am re-visiting my original love of landscape photography.
Not neccessarily giving up altogether on the 3D stuff, but I'm definitely returning to my roots in the great outdoors.
Bruce - nice to catch up with you again, hows it been going?!? :-)

I've been watching this thread for a while now, & just wanted to drop in to say what superb images those are!
Thanks for all of the tips & learning points to everybody who is contributing - some remarkable stuff going on here!
