In the interest of simplicity...
Question: Am I just being overly sensitive?
Answer: 'fraid so.
While you aren't re-selling the item, this is clearly a commercial context, as ultimately you'll be making money from this venture. It's only fair that the creator of the item share in your success.
Think of it as a collaboration, rather than purchasing a product, if it makes the pill a little easier to swallow.

Thread: Making Dynamic Clothing using only Poser (HELP!) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I know this thread is incredibly old, but seeing as I've only recently re-entered the world of Poser, and that I am revisiting some of my unexplored ideas, I thought I'd see if I could revive it.
I followed the exact same process as before, only this time I used Daz's Freak 4. As the mesh is considerably denser than that of Anton's Apollo, the draping appears far smoother.

Thread: Sketch Animation – WHY WON’T YOU WORK! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks Little Dragon.
No, it doesn't crash when rendered as an image...just when it's an animation.
I should probably tell you I'm running Vista, which could be the cause of my woes. :)
Back to the drawing board!

To test this, I've now attempted the animation using ALL possible video formats...and it still crashes!
If someone else has Poser 8, and you have a free moment, could you test this? If it's just me, I'll happily accept that (and attempt to figure out the problem). If it's a problem with Poser 8, I can then provide this as feedback to Smith Micro.
Cheers!

LostInSpaceMan...that's a really good idea that hadn't even occurred to me.
I've been rendering using whatever the default codec is, but I'll try something else and see if it fixes the problem.

Thanks for the response.
I now no longer have Poser 6 installed, so I can't test if it was in fact user error...although it is entirley possible.
My problem with Poser 8 however is not, as I can very plainly see it sketch-rendering the first dozen frames or so before it inevitably dies.
It's not that my scene is too complex either. I've ran test renders of only 30 frames, with a single figure (Freak 4). It STILL crashes.
I resent the fact that I might need to render out each frame individually and assemble them in another package. I shouldn't have to...should I?

To clarify, it's not that Poser 6 wouldn't render animations...it's that it wouldn't render 'Sketch' animations. It insisted on rendering only 'Firefly' or 'Preview'.

Thread: New pose 8 figures | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi all,
I'm seeing more and more love for Alison, but not a great deal of love for Ryan.
I have to admit when I saw the early renders put up by BB I was worried. Out of the box, he's just as ugly as I expected; but there's a wealth of morphs to play with, and after some simply dial-spinning I'm starting to see something resembling a decent character:

I don't think he'll replace Apollo for me, but he is a surprisingly good alternative.

No. Because that's my argument! :)

Even though I haven't had the opportunity to play with the figures yet, I agree with you pjz99. The fact these figures are included, and have a number of morphs, is a step in the right direction.
I'm not here to argue with you Believable3D; I apologise if what I said came across that way. I'm merely trying to explain my opinion more thoughtfully. I've used the term 'ugly' in a less literal sense. Although one would have thought there was a sizeable area of exploration between ugly and super-model looks, no? That area is precisely what I'm seeking.
This is the very reason I've stayed away from the R'osity forum for so long. What starts as an open discussion inevitably decends into an argument.
Ridiculous.

Thread: Poser 8 Base Figures? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm not after super models; far from it in fact (a glance at my gallery will give you a clue as to what I'm about). Realism and flexibility is what I'm interested in.
I can't imagine that anywhere in the world there's a man out there that looks like Ryan; unless of course he was the victim of a tragic pectoral implant accident.
People haven't traditionally bought Poser with the figures in mind; but that's only because the figures haven't been good enough to be considered a selling point. (I'm talking Poser 6 onwards of course, as that's where I cut my teeth. Don't want to upset those P4/5 figure lovers out there).

Thank you all for the clarification. And thank you BB for the renders.
Alyson looks like a good starting pointing to work from; but Ryan, as I said previously…ugly.
His face is really quite horrific, and that chest! What happened?! I’m hoping when I get my hands on him I’ll be able to make something worth while, but it looks like it'll very much be polishing the proverbial turd.
If it doesn't work out, there’s always Apollo. :)

From what I’ve seen, the new human figures are all incredibly ugly out of the box; but until I get my hands on them and their purported plethora of included morphs, I won't dismiss them. I can’t understand why there are 8 human figures though. Why not just 2 figures (1 male, 1 female) with flexible morph/scaling options and a number of texture variants?
In my opinion, P6 James was by far the most attractive eFrontier out-of-the-box figure, although was for all intents and purposes un-morphable (without custom morphs that is). P7 Simon was horrendously ugly AND un-morphable, so I simply never used him.
If these new Poser figures can come even close to Anton’s Apollo in terms of visual flexibility, I’m sold.
Actually…I’m sold anyway! I’ll be downloading Poser 8 over the weekend :P

Thread: Who is The Girl 4 made for? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I agree with you both. Beauty is of course in the eye of the beholder.
While I don’t have a plethora of cute images under my belt; the handful I do have I’d like to think are reasonably successful. But then, that again depends on what my goals were (I’m going ‘round in circles now!). J
BrandyE, I’ll happily concede that good images can be made with the figure, as your image is indeed very cute. Great quality render too.
She is, however, unmistakably The Girl; and my M.O. is very much to lose as many visual clues as possible that link my image it’s original model. While I’m always honest in the description of my images, I take a great deal of care in ensuring my morph’s origins aren’t instantly recognisable.
I find, quite simply, that with The Girl I’m working against the grain, so to speak.
Again, just a matter of opinion.

Thread: OT Avatars | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've changed my avatar on a number of occassions.
I'd like to think that my avatar is representative of my current skill level as a Poser user.
This image is as good as my work has gotten, thus far. If with my next image I feel I've improved, I'll update my avatar accordingly.
Also...I hate having my photo taken! :P
