By the way: We just began Tweeting on Twitter. You can sign up at www.twitter.com/byndbasics. And, you can tell us what type of tutorials you would like to see and in what format you would like them delivered via a form on the beyondbasics.net website. You can also apply to become one of our Gurus and provide training content of your own.
Looking forward to hearing from all of you.

Thread: Richard Schrand's new Vue 7 book | Forum: Vue
Attached Link: Beyond The Basics dot Net
I had missed this thread until Paula Sanders alerted me to it. I'm pretty excited about Vue 7:Beyond the Basics.Silverblade: To answer your question, the book will be in color this time. IÂ just got my pre-release copy and it looks very nice. The book began shipping yesterday, so it should be available on various sites in the next few days.
Shawn: Some of the new features in 7.5 were not fully working at the time I wrote the book. I do have some information on world building, but.......I will have more on a site I'm working on right now that is beind created in conjunction with the book:Â beyondbasics.net. I have a pre-site up where people can let me know what tutorials they would like to see and if they want them in PDF or video formats.
btw: I just noticed there is a preview chapter (the ol' "Look Inside") feature for the book, so you can see a portion of the first chapter on amazon.com. Go to the beyondbasics.net site and then click the link at the bottom of the page. That will take you to the book's page.
Thanks for the interest, everyone.

Thread: Just bought Vue 6 Revealed... | Forum: Vue
MDT - I didn't take it wrong. Promise. I have brought up doing a more advanced book on Vue and we're waiting to see how this one sells. I appreciate knowing how people feel about the book and, when given the opportunity to update it/them, I take all the comments into consideration. -Rick-

MDT - Sorry you feel that way about the book. But, as with everything in life, can't please everyone. Hopefully there will be tidbits within the book that will help you out. And remember, it is geared for beginners. -RIchard-
Thread: update on castle | Forum: Vue
Looks great so far, Dolly. You might want to think about breaking it down into smaller sections that can then 'mixed and matched' to create the entire castle. That way you wouldn't have such a massive single file.

Thread: Can we rotate the terain at the terrain editor ? | Forum: Vue
And for the Mac users out there, if you aren't using a 3-button mouse, you can Control+Click to rotate the view in the Terrain Editor. -Richard-
Thread: Mover 4 Demos | Forum: Vue
Short, yes. I had limited time to put them together. But, the potential for Mover 4 is seen. I will post more with some of the other features of Mover 4 sometime later today. -Richard-
Thread: Siggraph 2002, Me, You,Nicholas and Richard too! | Forum: Vue
I will have my handy dandy, super trusted, and ultimately underutilized digital still and video cameras with me, so will be happy to post some pics as time allows (and as those 'you-know-they're-going-to-happen connectivity woes get worked out). Look for some images by Tuesday morning, Central Standard Time, USA.
Thread: Vue Book Teaser | Forum: Vue
Yes, tradivoro, there will be a large chapter on the Material Editor and working within that area.

Depending on the space on the CD-ROM after all the other materials that will be in there, I want to have a folder that contains all the chapter images. This way they would be in color.and can be reviewed that way as well.
Thread: How do I bring a poser model into Vue D? | Forum: Vue
At this stage, if you happen to be using a Mac, you have to save your Poser scene as an OBJ file. Make sure to either copy the associated texture/bump/trans files to the folder with your OBJ, or just make sure you know where all those files are located within Poser's Texture folder. Use the Object Import command in Vue, import the OBJ file and, when asked, locate the textures and trans files. That should be changing pretty soon based on the announcement that was released recently. Mac users will soon be able to import .PZ3s as well. -Rick-
