Subject: Interesting Conundrum - Poser Lock Ups

Hi All. I have an interesting situation. All of a sudden, one of my student's version of Poser is not allowing him to delete items from the workspace (the program locks up) nor change materials in any way (the program locks up). Literally, I was having him delete the default Poser Dork from the default start-up, and upon hitting delete, the program locked. He has tried to add a new material to a shirt, and the program has locked up. Here are his specs: Operating System: Vista Processor: AMD Turion X2 1.8GHz (per core) RAM: 2GB HDD: 140GB Video Card: Nvidia GeForce Go 6150 He has tried uninstalling and reinstalling twice, without any success. He has gotten all the updates for Poser. Any ideas what he can do? Thanks.

If we're talking about Poser 7, uninstalling and re-installing doesn't
always clear out a corrupted file.  P7 places most of its configuration
stuff in the 'Documents and Settings' folder, and the installer doesn't
seem to remove and replace those files properly.  Locate the Poser 7
subfolder under 'Application Data' in Docs and Settings, and delete
that entire 'Poser 7' folder, then re-install and see if it's any better.

Also, try doing the install to a non-default location, just in case something
odd or virus-y remains in the standard Program Files folder.

Thanks. We'll give that a try.
