Hi AgentSmith, I set it to low - of course ;-) I am using Windows XP Pro. Maybe it is an XP-issue. Maybe it is due to running the system as admin (our network configuration is awful) ;-) Regards, Volker Harun
Thread: Bryce 5.5 and priority | Forum: Bryce
Well, I am used to minimize the task-manager by now ;-) Bryce 5.5 resets itself to normal priority each time I start a 'Clear and render'. It is annoying, as even programs with not much need of resources (firefox for example) have problems working correctly. I have an AMD Athlon XP 2800 with 1GB of RAM which is sufficent for running Bryce5.0, terragen and PhotoshopCS at the same time. Bryce 5.5 ruins it though. Regards, Volker Harun
Thread: DTE - Again! | Forum: Bryce
Well, it could be the terrain editor, too :-) When setting a terrain from 512 to 1024, Bryce is just interpolating without calculating new details. You may change the terrain's resolution, uncheck as shown in this link and hit that 'fractal' button again for recalculating with finer details. Regards, Haroon
Thread: Bryce vs. Vue | Forum: Bryce
I checked the HDRI-features of Vue Infinite and am a bit dissapointed.
Have look at my last render to see what Bryce can achieve with simulated radiosity.
The Ecosystem of Vue, though, is unbeatable. It is time for DAZ to implement some instances-feature, too.
In my opinion, the filters to achieve a good surface, etc. are something that make Bryce and Vue most different.
For me the Bryce's DTE is lovely, cute and mighty. The Vue's filters are mighty, mighty and mighty but less intuitiv.

Thread: Blending and merging Layers - Advice needed | Forum: Photoshop
Merging the whole set of layers works of course (thanks for the ALT-Merging, forgot that one meanwhile) Saving the nebula's mask and applying to the merged render did help a bit - the opacity in the lower half (that yellow spot) is vanishing, though. I am really missing the WhatYouSeeIsWhatYouGet-Effect when merging parts of the layers. Always having the problem is a bit of a bad tradeoff in my opinion. Regards, Volker Harun

Or let the Sensor of the camera get cleaned by someone who knows how to do it. Don't touch it yourself!

'ZDNet - a legit site' ;-) How sweet :-)
For example the openwares-group is known to infect freeware-progs with spyware and then tell it is their own product, contribute it free through zdnet, ...
Look at the disccussions in http://methlabs.org/ who offer Peerguardian against IP-sniffers. Well download it from any site other than methlabs.org and you wil have the infected version, I'll bet!

Thread: Suggestion to Renderosity | Forum: Community Center
@jumpstartme2: If you click the 'Members'-link on the side-menu, you will notice how long it takes to read the database. So for every thumbnail of each artist this list must be loaded and checked if you or me are on the blacklist to view this or not. It makes me shiver ;-) Volker Harun

Hello, to warm up the whole thing: Max has a very simple but excellent idea posted in the link above. You are freely invited to take part in the discussion ;-) Volker HarunThread: Suggestion to Renderosity | Forum: Community Center
In my opinion the ignore-option slows the system down, as for every thumbnail there must first be a crosscheck if I am allowed to see it. Guess that this is the reason for astSIGs and photoSIGs slow servers Volker Harun
Thread: Some Ideas to improve Best rankngs most commented most viewed hot20 | Forum: Community Center
Hello, @Max: I think your idea is excellent. And it would be the easiest to include in the scripts. There is no need for new buttons or options. Everything is already included in the database. @Jaqui: I think that this option is a bad trade-off. First it takes time to upgrade the database for another option for any image, second, the hot20 really will be a useless popularity-list with no art-related context, just as you stated. Max's idea would turn it upside-down. It would enhance to become an art-critique-list. Therefore Renderosity's capacities of a marketplace with popularity-lists would grow, too. The solution of an additional vote-option would make my decision to go from a market-place to an art-site easier. Yours Volker Harun
Thread: Do metaballs bounce? | Forum: Bryce
Grouping a Set of Metaballs will prevent them to interfere with other metaballs. Keep this in mind, too.

Thread: Resizing Images.... | Forum: Photography
Hi there,
bicubic for photography - sharpening manually afterwards (don't use a bicubic sharp in PS 8 CS). The program computes the best result for details.
nearest neighbour or similar is just calculating which pixel is at the average location after resizing (pure maths without computing contrast and colours)
Yours Volker
