Ive read in numerous posts something to the effect"I dont want to hurt the merchants." Or "The merchants arent involved in this." Well I hate to burst everyones bubblebut it is because of the merchants that this place exists, they are the lifeblood of Renderosity and as long as the merchants continue to stand by and allow this to happen it "will" continue to happen.
Youve all seen it in televisionwhen the advertisers start pulling outthings changeor the show goes away. Advertisers start putting their support behind some other show.
But the only way for the viewer to put pressure on the advertiser is to stop buying their product.
Advertiser = Merchant
Viewer = Member

Merchantsyou need to take a look at what is going on here. By remaining you are essentially saying that you approve of the whole situation and everything should continue as isregardless of how it effects your consumers. There are many other sites (most with a better cut for the merchant) and although you might not get as many hits to begin withif your models are goodpeople will follow and word will spread.

Membersby continuing to support the merchants you are just as guilty of preventing change. The only way to initiate a change is to act.

NOTE TO MERCHANTS
I am in no way shape or form trying to put down or degrade your outstanding work. Im just trying to point out that "YOU" as a small group of merchants have much more power over this site than all the members put togetherbut in the end its the members that hold the power over you.

In most countries performing an act with "intentional harm" is a crime...in the U.S. it's a felony. Even in cyberspace it is considered taboo. But in Renderosity's dicionary it a "Bad Mistake".

I find it amusing that "anyone" is surprised by anything the admins of this site pull. NEWS FLASH: "YOU" are nothing but a number to these people. They don't give a flying f*** about you or anyone else in this (supposed to be) community. You are here as raw material to feed their bottom line. PERIOD. Believe me I know...I tried over a year ago to leave here...but I am still listed as a member. Maybe they'll dump me after this. (not that they will actually let you go) Try another site...there are numerous to choose from. RenderVisions has a great sense of community...they love contests. They have 3 or 4 running now...1 has a $250.00 CASH purse. They have an ever-growing marketplace that is looking for new merchants. Many galleries of outstanding artwork (even an erotic adult section). Forums, tuts...hell it's like a Renderosity that cares about it's members. PlanIt3D...here's another great community choice. Fitzy and Slinger will really make you feel at home. And if you're trying to find something...WOW these folks seem to be able to find anything...they will supply you with a list of locations in nothing flat...even if it means sending you to another site to get it. They have a huge freebie section. An outstanding marketplace. Galleries galore. AND "if" you want to run a contest..."YOU" run it. I've only mentioned these 2 because these are 2 of my favorite...but there are many, many, many to choose from. You owe it to yourself to find a place that treats you like a member of a community instead of a ###. ...one last comment... If you go looking for a new site "DO NOT" use the webring links provided by Rosity...it will only add to their stats. Use Google or go to RenderVisions or PlanIt3D and use their webrings...find a place you like and "Enjoy Art Again". ...well I think I've said enough. I guess the big question is have I said enough to get myself banned? Probably not...the message will be deleted or edited by the gutless admins and my number will remain in the database to increase their bottom line. Cheers...Good Hunting.

Well I tried to log out permanently... How in the hell do you get out of this crazy system? I can "log out". But I am "still" considered a member. "I WANT OUT - TOTALY". I no longer want to contribute, be part of, or in any way shape or form add to the Renderosity numbers. Remove me and anything associated with me from this site. Yesterday would be better than tomorrow.

I joined Rendervisions roughly 4 months ago. I was member # six hundred and thirty-something.
Now...membership has topped the 2500 member mark. That's a big increase in traffic. And a lot of them are the "get in there...roll up your sleeves...and help out" kind of people. (Happy to know them.) The site wasn't much 4 months ago...Zero posts on a lot of the forum categories...Only about 75 images in the gallery...Only 2 or 3 names listed as "Admins and Moderators"...A marketplace that mostly sent you elsewhere, including Renderosity I might add, for your items of interest. But with Lady Cherry and Enchanting Mirage plugging away at it...it has grown, and grown quickly. There are now about a dozen moderators...Hundreds of wonderful images in the various galleries...And a marketplace that is gaining in both content and quality.

Your above statement talks a numbers game...."we believe the results were not achieved through legitimate means."....so does that mean you "believe" your results are? I, for one, logged into Renderosity over 3 months ago...I have not logged out since then. Do you "believe" I have been online -At your site- for all that time? I doubt it...yet with all your number crunching, "No Red Flags"? Of course not....That's one more number in the "There are currently xxxx surfers online." column. Not a peep from anyone saying.."You should log off when you leave." or "Please don't remain logged in when you depart the site." How many would truly be "Surfing Renderosity" if they all logged out when they left the site. "Legitimate means?" ...sounds shifty to me. I think the key to understanding the above statement is this: "the rate of your site's advance is cause for attention".... Is it attention? or alarm? Do the big boys feel someone breathing down their necks? Is another site offering a better deal to vendors in the marketplace? Is another site treating the artists that support that site with more respect and dignity? Is another site helping new artists instead of acting like they are a burden to the site? Is another site getting "your" customers? What you did was nothing more than a blatant monopolistic act in an attempt to stifle the competition. "Even playing field"...my microsoft ass.
