Quote - I don't think you CAN copyright a material setting, as in a shader. It's the same as with lights and poses, and it HAS been ruled that you can't copyright dial settings.
Please site source of this information: case, country, etc. Most interested in this court decision. Thank you.
Thread: Inject pose: How to???? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Don't see why you couldn't use the freebie MatPoseEdit software for this. You can pick it up here: http://koti.mbnet.fi/ilaripih/MPEHome/
Also pick up the tutorials that are available there and elsewhere (try a Google search). It's fairly quick and easy to use.
Just a note: If the texture you have for your V3 character is from or uses any part of a commercial or freebie texture, most likely copyright laws will prevent you from distributing it (free or otherwise). Just in case you didn't know (and I can't tell from your image or description) - the texture has to be 100% original.

This site is definately worth the hassle of getting through the front gate. Lot of stuff that is available there and no where else.

Hmm ... that link seems to be going in a circle. For a recent website illustration I did for a local civic group I used the DAZ freebie cap and parented (not conformed) the DAZ Shepherd's Robe. Any of the robes would probably have worked. The figures were Luke and Laura so it was a matter of scaling, pose adjustments and hiding visible body parts. As well as retexturing, of course. Fairly easy and quick to do for a one-shot static render. If you are doing animation or multi panel work (comics or book illustration) this method probably isn't practical.
You could also try conforming the available robes to one of the M3 or D3 to young teen morphs available in the free section here or on the forum I mod at: http://poserpower.com/phpBB2/index.php
Thread: What would you name this character? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Is not a pebble but a small rock? Is not a rock indicative of strength? Is not this character strong - though a woman who is diminutive to man? (Though there may be some copyright issues with the creators of "The Flintstones.")
All this while thinking I made up the name for its phonetic appeal, unaware it had such deeper meaning. And am I wrong in thinking that this character is not of Hebrew origin?

Acadia - where there is a will there is a way. At one point a closet (albeit a large one) served as my "studio." But painting is a messy proposition and the cleanup when using Poser is a lot quicker. ;)

Acadia, I wouldn't say your standards are low. I would guess you're simply expressing yourself and Poser is a great and fairly quick medium to accomplish that. Some solid technical skills are needed, just as they are when working in oils, acrylics, pastels - any medium, including electronic. I just have an aversion to technical prowess being such a strong source of inspiration and enlightenment. Some of Michelangelos works were lost to us because his understanding of his medium was faulty. His frescos fell apart, his sculpture shattered. In addition, his depiction of human anatomy was less than accurate. Yet, he is still considered by most as a genius among many greats. It is his skills as an artist, not as simply a painter or a sculptor that has made him so.

This might be too formal, but for such characters I have used the DAZ 19th Century suit re-textured in the Poser Materials Room and with the coat-tails made invisible. For a different look, another alternative might be the freebie David and (I believe M3) Japanese school uniform (again re-textured to suit your needs). Unfortunately, I don't have access to the link for the Japanese site where they're available at the moment.
I have not seen a clothing figure made specifically for what you request.

Okay, okay ... I've got to speak up. This is certainly impressive stuff, but with people saying "this is the quality we should be aiming for" and "I really feel like an amateur," I really wonder what most people's goals are with Poser. Is the goal to make the most life-like, photo-realistic render that can possibly be done?
Personally I own a couple really good cameras, I know how to work with human models and I'm pretty good in a darkroom. If I'm looking for realism those are my tools of choice. If I needed 3D people to perform stunts in movies that couldn't be done with real actors, then this stuff would be appropriate as it would in making game figures more lifelike. Basically, in the field of entertainment. But for gallery renders ... isn't the important thing something about sparking emotion; a picture being worth a thousand words; speaking to humankind through an image; expressing yourself uniquely ... and on and on and on ... in other words ART?
Just my opinion - while these images are most impressive from a purely technical viewpoint, they hardly serve as the apex of what I'm personally looking to achieve either visually or aesthetically.

Absolutely agree! One of the very best freebie modelers out there for both basic and unusual items. He continues to amaze me.
Thread: Looking for "reverse" beach setting | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I did quite a few beach scenes last summer and did a good deal of looking around for something with the viewpoint you're talking about all to no avail. In the end, I wound up using a background photograph shot looking on to a beach then constructed a water plane out of a rectangal primitive for the foreground ocean to give it more depth. A bit of work to make it all match up and look right, but the renders did come out nicely.
Thread: Impossibly long, flowing mane of hair | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I would also suggest trying Flo hair as well as Kozaburo's free Long Hair Evolution. At the moment not sure just how long that one would go before you'd have to postwork for longer hair. Both of these figures look masculine enough for manly men if you stay away from texture colors that look like bleach or dye jobs. It's surprising how well a good deal of the female hair figures work for the men. Almost any of them that have a more natural style can be readily adapted for male use.

There was a Combat Zone in Cambridge?! Just knew the one in downtown Boston (fairly intimately aquainted with it in fact, though not really by choice) ... but that was long ago ... tofu hadn't even been 'invented' yet and that Raphael was probably just a mere pup! :-)
