Some background The computer had 3 drives in it, a boot drive and 2 storage drives. Last week I replaced the boot drive with an ssd and ghosted the boot drive on the ssd and then formatted what I thought was the old boot drive, it wasn't. :-( to my horror it was one of the 2 storage drives There was also music and video files on there in addition to the poser files Ultimately nothing I can't live without, just kicking myself for my stupidity.

What operating system are you using?
Going into the control panel and clicking on Restore should get you there. You can restore the computer to the point before you did the formatting. If you are on Windows. If you are on a MAC, I can't help you.
It's windows 10. The drive in question is not a system drive but a secondary drive that all my files were stored on.

Poser 4 does not work right with 1GB or more of ram, version 3 may have the same problem. Contact Curious Labs they have a memory fix for version 4, they may have one for 3 as well.

I fooled with some settings on the file: Changed light properties from "depth shadow map" to "ray tracing" Changed bucket size from 32 to 256, changed texture filtering to 1.000, and enabled "remove backfacing polygons" and changed the texture size to 2048. p4 2.4 gh 1.5 gb ddr ram (266 mhz) win xp home render time went from 258 to 218 seconds

Nice pic, I like the dress, and the background reminds me of the school pics they took in grade school. I can't help you with your render question, but, as to your other question , no you do not have to uninstall p4, p5 installs to it's own directory. Check CL's website, I think they are still offering upgrade pricing that is fairly reasonable. John

I've only been using this user name for a couple months, but I've been a member for a couple years. When I got my new computer I couldn't remember my user name so I set up a new one. I don't post too much here, usually when I can't find an answer in a search, but I do enjoy reading the forums, and come here every day.

Set up your work area the way you want it, then click a "ui" dot to save it to memory. The next time you start poser simply click on the dot and the screen will restore itself. HTH John

There is a program on the Microsoft website you can download that will check your system for XP compatibality, it will tell you which drivers you will need, and any software issues that may exist. I upgraded to XP Home this past summer, and will never go back, my system has not crashed once since.

Have you tried making the hand invisible? You could also edit the tex map so the hand only, not the fingers, was the same color as the glove.

Select the toe, then dbl click on it, this will bring up the properties box. Remove the checkmark where it says "visible", click ok, and her toes will dissapear. Hope this is what you were looking for. John
