What a nice surprise having one of my images selected. My thanks to those who made the decisions. It is nice to be included in such a list. Congrats to all this week's winners. As for weekly themes, I think you should make it easy on yourself and not turn it into more of a chore than necessary. I appreciate the amount of work and dedication it takes to put together such presentations.

Hi Pk. The ctrl/+ suggestion worked. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. What will we do without you? How on earth did you ever learn this trick?
I fear my new kitten may have told RR to do something crazy. Although Hoover cannnot spell very well, he is VERY VERY good at pushing random keys, lol. Why do cats always want to lay on the keyboard while it's owner is using it. As is normal for every cat I ever had - he starts off with a paw - then lays his head on it, then tries to crawl onto it completely. Harse words, the water spritzer, and repeated removals only heighten his determination. He also is at the stage where he wants to climb to the top of lamps, shelves, appliances, potted plants, etc.
I hope your reason for leaving the Moderator post was based on positive causes. I am sure the time you put into the position was substantial. Hopefully you will now have some time for yourself. You handled the job expertly.
Btw I had ;ogged on today to post a new image. It is of a Grey Fox in my yard a day or so agoo. If you find the time, check it out.
My wishes for a happy healthy new start.
Your friend, Lee

I had the same problem here at RR most of the day. It only happened at this site. I tried both Firefox browser and IE browser but both would more often than not - be redirected to that "MyBookFace site. Sometimes it happened immediately and sometimes it took a few minutes. I tried to find out info about this online but with no real success. It does appear as if the problem was fixed because now all seems as usual with no re-directions.

Thread: Opinions wanted about the - Fine Art America - website. | Forum: Photography
Thanks for the link but before posting this thread, I had read those reviews and by a vast majority, they were positive. Unfortunately, I have no idea of the sources those reviews came from. I am hoping I can get some info from users of this forum. That will give me a some confidence that the source of info is legit, lol.

There was a time when I was disappointed by a lot of things I noticed at RR. Among that list was the "lack of honest critiques". It took some time before I realized that this was an irrational approach. I have learned that if one wants honest critiques, they should post in the forums and ask for such critiques instead of posting in the gallery.
Those who participate in the forums are more involved with the hobby and more likely to really look at the image and have an opinion. Those who post in the Gallery are more likely to be less willing to voice an honest critique because they do not want to cause "hurt" feelings or because they don't feel competent enough to offer such critiques. Who am I to question such decisions. Everyone who posts here, has their own reason for doing so. Some are beginners, some are pros. Some have basic equipment and some have all the bells and whistles. Some are just sharing snap shots and some are looking for personal exposure, some post terrible images and some post inspiring ones. Most are "social", lol.
I have come to realize that if you want to share your images with a diverse number of people at an online "art" community , then you need to accept whatever or how many response(s) and comments you get or don't get. I decide that if I didn't like how things operate, then I could pack it up and stop posting. I am going on 5 years here, so it is obvious I for one am happy to be a part of whatever it is, lol.

Thread: images opened in PS7 are darker than when opened with other programs | Forum: Photoshop
Thanks Scott,
You were spot on with your advice, even if a bit late, lol. I use windows XP. My Adobe workspace color setting is sRGB IEC61966-2.1 and my Gray Gamma is 2.2, just as you indicated.

I think I found the problem.
Since the problem just occurred recently , I decided to see what auto updates had recently been installed. I found one for my monitor, lol.
I them went to control panel and used the Adobe Gamma calibration tool. This seemed to have fixed the problem.
So no need for assistance. Thanks anyway.

Thread: Posting images with EXIF info intact | Forum: Photography
Thanks to those who have commented.
To Shoot2thrillphoto --- I do not have such as option in my versions of Photoshop 7 on Paintshop pro XI. There is no mention of "encoding".

To MGD --- I am of the understanding that editing, opening and closing, moving, etc of a jpg file will adversely affect a jpg file but that using tiff as a file format will not .

Thread: Posting images with EXIF info intact | Forum: Photography
Hi all,
This is what I meant to post:
As a consequence of getting a new camera system, I have wondered how to post my images with the EXIF info intact. I get my images in jpg from the camera and they are 3872x2592 and around 2.5 MB in size.
I can save them as tiff files using Paintshop Pro XI but when I do this, the EXIF info is lost. When I use Adobe Photoshop 7 to change from the jpg to tiff, the file size increases dramatically to about 28.7MB (10 times bigger) but the EXIF is still there.
After cropping the image size to about 2512x1992 it is still a big file ( 14.3M). I then reduce the file size to around (900x714) at 1.85MB using 300dpi. I use 300dpi so the image can be printed. I realize 300 dpi increases the file size and is too high for posting online but if I change the dpi, it also changes the resolution size.
At this point I get confused and forget about including the EXIF, lol.
Any suggestions?
