Thread: YOU FUCKING UNGRATEFUL BASTARDS!!!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Ok... Time expired to edit post... So I gotta do a new reply...
Now that I've had a moment to read this whole post...
Get over it people. Dont bitch at the wrong people for the way rosity handles their download system though itd be an easy MySQL query edit to make them show up in the order they were submitted.
Anyway, I've done some math so lets take a look at something... x2000 has 80.4 MB of files uploaded which he did via FTP. I know it took him a loooong time to do so. How long? Let's put it into perspective...
*56K is actually limited to a MAX of 53K per FCC
Of course I dont feel it took him 10 hours of total uploading, I still feel it was on the scale of 6-8 hours since it seemed he did have a good upstream which I'm sure hes thankful for.
For those that dont know where I got these numbers at, consult google for the numbers... 1KB = 1024bytes, 1byte=8 bits (internet speed measured in bits since it sounds faster)

Thanks for the heads up...
Heres the thing with downloading items and getting a download.zip file instead.
If you are registered on my site, and try to use the links in the freestuff section here you will get the "download.zip" file. This is because that registered users bypass the "password check", and get served the file. And since rosity is not an authorized referer, the hotlink protection takes effect and serves "download.zip" instead. Also "Referer blocking" settings in your browser/ ad killer will also result in getting the "download.zip" file
This only applies to people who've registered on my site, and continue downloading items from the rosity freestuff.
Since I will NOT allow rosity "direct linking", those that are registered will encounter this. If I allow "direct linking" for rosity, it will allow people to post the file link around the forums and fetching the file directly (bandwidth theft). I want people to see my site to get the files. Sorry, but because of bullshit I've had in the past, this practice will not change.
Heres a couple workarounds through.
This should help you guys out. BTW, at time of post I used 7.6GB of bandwidth and I have a max of 8GB month. Dont worry, I'll take care of this. :)

Thread: Another Note About My Freestuff: | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You guys can actually head over to his own category in the downloads section to get the freebies located at http://www.2thextreme.org/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=18.
Yes, hes been doing a ton of cut-n-pasting, since I have a large backlog of descriptions to approve once the files make it to the server.
No prob x2000. I'm glad I'm able to use my bandwidth for something useful now. :)

I didnt see this particular issue mentioned but it concerns the content my site. I've seen that the sites have to "art related", but what about sites whos primary focus isnt art? My site is mainly about my RPG as well as some PHP programming, and my site does indeed have a gallery relating to stuff in my RPG (hence the reson of me being into 3d art). I've received many visitors from the webring and just as much have many outgoing visitors to the webring according to my stats and even some people who registered.

Wow!!! This is the first time I followed up on this "Mysterious DAZ Program", and the least I can say is WOW!... Linux support. Just the thing I want to hear because I'm sick of M$, and the only reason I'm still on windows is Poser4. My favorite suggestions are the 3rd part plugins and "modules". Here are my requests, but I highly believe DAZ will follow through with them: * Support the community as you have done, don't put a leash on us like CL and Microsoft (for the windows users). * Keep it inexpensive for the hobby users (like me). * KISS method ;) * Stability!!! I know this has been mentioned, but this is important. Don't rush through this. Good things are worth waiting for ;)
Thread: Partition against present Poser 5 Activation Security System: | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm suer someone already cracked it... The easiest way is "pre-loaders". Though inheretly unstable, they are possible. I'm pretty sure someone has already written a "pre-loader" that fools Poser to think they are using the same drive when in fact, the loader can be used on any computer regardless of the main drive. These do exist, though not all for piracy reasons, but they are feasble even with hardware dongles... I've used loaders for helping debug programs I'm helping with, and even a few games to help me get past a certian level. That said, I dont like the thought of dongles, I dont have any available space and imagine the hassle if you lost it... Unless if they utilize my audio input, go for it it is the only open port on my comp. I'm one of the types of users I may use one HD to boot, then 30min later, I'm on a new drive, but poser has its own dedicated drive. It wouldnt be so bad if poser kept to the drive it is installed on. I have 8 HD's total (3 in my comp and others networked and are removable). Right now, I'm on a comp of mine that has 2 system drives for this box and another comp of mine. CD dongles are just as bad... many times I listen to music on my computer while worknig and unfortunately I cannot put another drive in my computer so that means I will need to quit listening to music while I work (except another floppy). These things are also easy to bypass... I had a DOS game once that loaded many of its data off a CD though I spent 150MB to do the full install, so I copied the 500MB data file over and bypassed it myself an easy ini file edit was all it took. Needless to say, I've seem many loaders, crackers, editors while on my search to look for cheat codes in some games I bought espeically after I beat them and these "cracks" are a dime a dozen. This point was intended to say that regardless of your procedures it will get cracked, not how, but when... However, dont get me wrong I register apps (the serial, number my name, & email) that have free upgrades or ones I want to register. I've already got a free update to a program I own and that was nice, but its a program I use more than poser. I dont see myself even upgrading to XP because it uses your hardware config for identification... So, that means I'm at Win2k till I go linux. Hence, M$ wont get any money off my for buying XP because I dont want the hassle. I will not knowingly buy any software (espcially if I spend a weeks paycheck on it) to have to rely on the company for the stability of the progam if I can install it... My list: Dongles - Bad Challenge code and verification - Bad Serials - OK (what can I say, I'm used to them and I'm sure most users are) Phone Home - VERY BAD (all non-critial system connections are blocked by my firewall) Even Poser4's network broadcast is blocked by my firewall. less active connections = less open thing to get bombed by a script kiddie. No serial - Ok but I'd prolly have to give my DNA, SSN, school records, my pet, blood signed contract, left arm and left leg. Most likey I wont get Poser5 because of the time hassle with the way I run my computers. So though, Poser 4 is doning what I want it to do. Suggestion to CL if they keep their current system: I'm sure most users install Poser on a separate drive and or partition which doesnt get formatted during the usual format and reinstall of Windows. In this event, make it where it uses the drive it is on for the challenge code. Yes, its still a hassle for people who only have 1 HD, but you wont need to deal with people who have to contact you just because Windows F'ed up, which usually requires a format. Poser4 has stayed on the same drive and put in any computer I use (the drive is partioned into 2 drives one for poser, and one for my stuff). Thus I have one code, and the code will work regardless of the computer I use (so I'll only need another code for my laptop). I understand that you want to protect your software, but the harder you work to put security in, the faster it will fall still leaving the legit users lined up on hold and sending 1000's of emails a day (essentially alienating them and becoming a bitter company that you begin to see your users as a chore). Tosses 2 pennies into the hat I hope I made sense with all this... -MGCJerry Fellow Poser4 User/Addict
Thread: "A death in the family".... by Onyxx (virus warning) | Forum: Community Center
That is one of the newer things I'm really beginning to dislike... Scripts having priveleages of running programs on my computer. Soooo many innovations, so much trouble. A while back (before Nimda was recognized, yes, before) I saw many, and I do mean many, default.ida, cmd.exe, etc requests in my Linux, Apache logs. My server served my 404 page many times eating up 300MB in 1 day alone. As a result I created files it looked for with blank files of the same name. Instead of serving up 1000's of 404's is served up 1000's of blank files (0 bytes) and found it saved me alot of bandwidth trouble. Ever since I started putting those blank files in my root, it has saved me literally gigs of bandwidth a month (except when it does this crap "../../". I also have a blank page for the 400 bad request errors. Sometimes it is good just to create a blank file if you get alot of 404's on a specific request, cause most likely, a blank file is smaller than your custom 404's which can save in bandwidth. ;) Just my 2 cents about Nimda.

Don't popularity just suck? But r'osity is worth the wait. Hmm. DS3... Not too familar with that connection. Maybe we need something faster now for the popularity. Jeez, I'd hate to see the bandwidth charges...

I think rosity should also get off that 14.4 modem you know they're running on... Especially lately. You may now stone me at your leisure... But don't tar and feather me... This is a new shirt. stands still waiting for 100's of stones and boulders to be thrown at him from the admins and mods
Thread: What are your Windows 2000 Poser Problems? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm running Win2k Pro SP2 with only 128 MB ram on a Celeron 700 (20gb HD - 9 GB free)... Poser runs great except for the fact that I try to render high res images with high res maps on occasion. My Poser Directory is only about 2.5 gigs. I get a few errors every now and then about the "Display size is too large. Creating the next best thing" and poser doesn't show the actual owrkspace. Other than those 2 things poser runs pretty fast on my comp. Also make sure there isn't other memory consuming apps running. Poser don't like any other apps running, on my machine anyway.

"MGC, just an FYI, i use over 2 gigs of bandwidth a day now with my freestuff downloads section. 10gigs of bandwidth my not get you too far...be carefull. :) " Ouch... 2 gigs a day. Jeez, I wish I could get that many downloads in a week when I had my freestuff up. 5GB was usually enough for me.
