Yes there is something not quite right with Poser 7 on this issue . I had someone email me last night saying they had the same problem but thought it was something they had done incorrectly. It was only when they stumbled upon this thread that they realized there was a problem.

So, I used Mayadolls cigarette for my scene instead, without any prejudice to richarbri's cigarette. > > Something is wrong, and it is repeatable !!. > > ( o _ / o )I contacted e-frontier about this and they believe this rendering problem is caused by a corrupt preference file and deleting it should solve the problem.
I don't know if we are the only two that experience this but if it is reported enough maybe they will release a patch for this.

I am not sure I am explaining this correctly. Someone must have experienced this before. When viewing the preview the texture is correct and the one that is assigned to the prop. However, when rendering the texture Poser will change the assigned texture image to another texture being used in the scene even though the texture's name is correct in the material editor.
Everything looks fine in the material editor as well as in the preview.
The only way to correct the problem is to change the prop's material name by using the group editor and renaming the texture to something else.

Sealtm2, will do that as well. Good I posted here. Getting some good tips.
Maybe Poser 7 is not a piece of ....., like I first thought.

No I didn't. I didn't even know about that. Will try it out tonight. And I thought I had done a good job of reading the manual...well, I did skip a lot.
Thanks for letting me know about this.

It's almost funny. If you go for faster renderings you end up with something that has almost no detail at all. But at least you get a fast render. Now that's what I call an option.
I seem to have more crashes with this version than I did before. Not to mention I just don't think the quality of the renders is really worth it. Did I mention that before?
I am seriously thinking about pulling out my old Poser and putting this one up until they release another service pack that takes care of some of the problems.

Maybe someone can tell me how to get Poser to render faster. I have tried all the tips I have seen in other post, none seemed to work for me. Also, maybe someone can tell me how they get finished images that look worthwhile. After all that waiting you would think the finished image would be fantastic.

(I hope I didn't post this twice! Excitement can do terrible things...lol)

Quote - I'd like to know the answer to this as well. It must be doable in the Material Room...I just don't know how. LOL!
I wonder if this is what we are looking for? Haven't got time now to try it but I will later.....hopefully someone who does know how to do this will reply to this post :)
How do I use the reflection node? Create a reflection node and plug it into the "reflection color" channel of the PoserSurface node. Make sure you set the Transparency, Transparency Edge and Translucence_Value values to zero and that you enable raytracing in the render settings.
Here's an example of a glass material with both refraction and reflection:

Don't forget that some people don't want to learn how to make a prop, texture or poses. They want to use them. That's why I buy from the vendors.
It's like wanting a new computer. Sure I could learn how to make one but I have no desire to do that. I just want to use one.
Thus I buy it.
