Thank you, HartyBart. Your response comes from a much higher plane of existence than I'm used to! In the same menu I see there's a 'cut, copy and paste' facility which I've never used. Any comments about their use in relation to a Poser Scene?

Okhi and HartyBart , thanks for your input. I've a feeling (wishful thinking?) that P13 will be ok in win 7. I hope so as I like Windows 7.Â

Thanks hborre. It is a bit early but just thought someone in the know might be aware of changes in the program architecture that might prevent it working in Win 7. I'll just have to be patient!

Hello hborre. That was a splash of cold water! I went back to my P11.3 (.818) and yes the basic genesis character did load eventually but she was operating in cold treacle and if you took liberties the program froze and needed ctrl.alt.del for a restart. Genesis 2 produced a progress bar that stopped at twenty seconds whereupon, again, everything froze!. A lot of the older, predson daz assets I have work fine,. but so much of the new stuff is based on genesis 8 which puts it out of reach. Annoying!. I'd gladly buy new daz products but it would be pointless. So we're both losing out. And I still do not like DAZ Studio!

Thank you Richard 60. Those are all good points. I've duplicated my runtimes so as to have separate versions for P11 and P12 but these have have been on separate, external drives which have plenty of room unlike my drive C: (an ssd) which is getting on for three quarters full. I'm sure this isn't necessary but not only do I have a tendency to hoard ( I hate it when a change of windows means a program can't be run anymore) but also towards hypochondria (fear of crossover interference). (And who isn't at least slightly hypochondriacal (?) at present!) Thanks again and say safe! p.s. I know it's been chewed over many times but if DSON still worked in P11 that would be a very strong additional reason for keeping it. The material available in the DAZ store is mouthwatering. If only....

Thanks for that. I was going to get rid of P11 (to make more room) now that P12 is pretty well complete but you've persuaded me to keep it! (I am a bit of a hoarder!)

Thanks hborre. I must admit It was a feature I never got round to using but always meant to try!

ChromeStar, Many thanks for your clear, comprehensive covering of the matter, it's much appreciated. I used to to a lot of oil painting, a lot simpler and cheaper (but messier and no delete or restore!) Thanks again and keep safe!

Chromestar, Thank you. Sorry if this has been covered previously but, if starting from scratch, what computer set up would do Poser 12 most justice. As I said earlier I'm thinking of a new machine when things have settled down. Also what about this business of checking 'separate process'?

Thanks NikKelly, That answers my original thought about cpu vs gpu. A few years ago sound cards were all the thing now my sound 'thingy' is buried in the mother board! The last computer update I received also included the gpu in the mb! ( I draw the line at that. I'm sure the production of decent graphics is harder than that of sound?)

Thank you all. ChromeStar the last available driver update was back in late 2016! Things move on so quickly! When we get this 'plague' sorted I hope to get a new machine. Even so my present computer renders pretty quickly . Compared to older versions of Poser ( I go back to 3) the speed, capacity and stability of 12 are all excellent. (I can render now without crossing my fingers or wondering what I could remove from a scene to have a chance of a complete render,) That said I hope it would not be too presumptuous to thank Larry Weinberg and and subsequent developers for the pleasure that Poser has given me, Seasons greetings!
