One more try: The Tailor 1.5 update/upgrade was available for free, briefly. Yes, they discovered it was a mistake, since it was a beta version. I, and others, eagerly awaited the official version of the FREE update/upgrade. Now they want $10 for it. That's a really bad PR move in my estimation. Will I pay the $10? Maybe, but only after I've corresponded directly to DAZ to let my feelings be known. (And I get my new credit card.) DAZ has always been very receptive to customer input. That is a very good lesson for any Poser merchant to remember.

Actually, to be accurate, PBooost was mentioned in threads where the subject matter lead to mention of the product. In this thread, it was a direct comparison of one utility that has been upgraded for free, while the other is not. I'm surely not the only one who resents paying the extra $10 for a utility that doesn't get used every day (Tailor), partly because of some obvious bugs. Also, there was no advanced notice of DAZ's decision to suddenly charge for the update/upgrade. Again, the previous "premature" update was free. As for the rest: some people just don't have anything more important to do with their time.

Personally I think that sucks. Awhile ago they mistakenly released the beta version of Tailor 1.5 for FREE. Now they want $10?! At least one of the changes was to fix the problem where clothes float over the head after being tailored. That was a bug fix! Now look at other great utilities such as PBooost... Nope, we didn't need to pay for updates!

I can only guess that you're either new with Poser, or don't have much installed. I just checked and my Poser folder is about 8 GB after I cut out quite a few items. I've had a much larger Poser installation in the past. Heck I've had Poser 4 on one drive (30 GB in 1 partition), and Poser 5 on another drive (40GB, 1 partition). At one time or another I've run out of room and needed to cut down on the sheer size of my Poser installation. If you have many small partitions, that can be a very big problem.

I still have problems with the idea of spending $100 and getting nothing but the opportunity to spend more money. It's hard enough for me to come up with $100. But it would be even worse to wait weeks before I could buy something for $1.99 later.

OH god, I believe that's your problem, only offering 14GB to Poser! Geesh don't you know Poser uses lots of hard drive space, and so does Windows, for swap files! You want to get the biggest darned hard drive you can afford, with only ONE partition, then things will work much better.

I'm a computer geek, and don't even know what PF is?! I don't waste time looking at all sorts of meters or performance utilities. I'd rather just use the darned computer. I've used Tailor on my computer, with 512MB of RAM, and successfully run other applications at the same time. Yes, some things slow down a bit, but so what? Ok, so I don't run Tailor every day, and I can just live with it.

Some of the readme files barely provide any useful information. But then you'd know that if you read them!

Ouch, forget about making pose files into camera files. That's way too much work when PBooost is there to help instead. I used banks for things like "Vicky's MATs," "Vicky's Poses," etc. Then I could put all the MATs in one bank, and take the word MAT right out of the name. If it's in the MAT bank, it's a MAT! Oh, I won't rename any of the Vicky 3 stuff. But Vicky 3 has 3 banks for herself alone!

We're missing many pieces of the puzzle. We've narrowed down why we'd get a "newer version number" error. It's not because of a corrupted geometry file. There was a mention of some other error messages, with no details. The clue lies in the unspoken error messages, I bet!

I haven't used Poser 5 for months, even though I couldn't wait to get it. I don't want PPP, because I don't need anything it offers. If I had a more powerful computer, I'd be using Poser 5 now instead of Poser 4.

There is no Poser ProPak version of the Vicky 3 figure. Yes, you often get that "newer version" message if a character of figure was created with ProPak. However, you also get that message if you haven't updated to Poser 4.03. I'm still mystified about that. I thought the 4.03 update was a couple years old and everyone would finally have updated by now!
