Thread: PP2010 changegamma.py and mac | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Attached Link: daz forum, mentions changegamma didn't work right on mac in poser pro
Mentioned the materialModbutton.py script in earlier post. I looked at that script in text editor: it's short and just defines some script buttons. It actually sets up one of the buttons [Change Texture Gamma] for running changeGamma.py. I don't have changeGamma.py (did a search in finder) which is why I get the Null or empty script alert when I click that button.Did everyone get changeGamma.py with their install of PP2010 mac?
In the link above, to daz forum, 2nd to last post, marianner says changeGamma didn't work right in Poser Pro on a mac. So I'm wondering if changeGamma wasn't included with PP2010 mac for this reason. Yet apparently some of you have it. So I don't know why I don't.

@MarianneR: thanks, but I don't have MaterialMods appearing there in my Scripts menu. Wow, you have a lot more scripts than came with my PP2010. I'm guessing you've added a number of 3rd party scripts.
Do you know what the script is named as a file in the finder? Is it changegamma.py or something else?
@estherau: is that free script still available and can I get it somewhere?

I looked for materialmods in the finder and found a materialmods folder. Inside are:
materialModButton.py
set_mats.py
writeMats.py
Â
Is one of these supposed to be the changegamma python script?Â

BTW, I did the SR1 for PP2010 yesterday. Anyway to tell it worked. It doesn't mention SR1 in the about window.

I can go to Menu -> Scripts, but there's no MaterialMods there. Searching my mac I found a MaterialMods folder. There's no changeGamma script in it. I opened the materialModButtons.py in text editor, and it references changeGamma.py but it's nowhere on my mac. materialModButtons.py does refer to a writeMats.py that I do have which goes with button "Inventory", and a set_mats.py. This folder is not in the Scripts folder so it doesn't show up there. Maybe I have a bad install. PP2010 seems to work at any rate. Though I wonder what else I'm missing.

It worked for me. I was surprised, since the page said the coupon will only work once. I ordered the physical sidegrade hybrid of PP 2010.
I wonder who got the 80% off coupons :) Maybe I will in the next couple of days! Would be just my luck. (Naw, I'm just kidding. This is a good deal. Thanks for the link.)

Thread: Poser 2010 vs Poser 8? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Attached Link: poser.smithmicro.com/upgrade.html
Just to be clear. If you own poser pro or poser pro base, you can 'upgrade' to PP 2010 for $199.99 If you own poser 6, 7, or 8, you can 'sidegrade' to PP 2010 for $249.99 If you own poser pro and poser 8, you can 'upgrade' to PP 2010 for $70. When PP 2010 was released, upgrades and sidegrades were at a lesser price: $179.99 for upgrade, $199.99 for sidegrade. Sometime during the latter of May 2010, these prices were in effect again for a few days. I missed it by like a day cause they never gave a sales end date specific, and I unwisely just assumed it would last through May 31st! Anyway, that's what I'm waiting for. Maybe it'll happen again, maybe not. I'm still going to wait it out for awhile.Thread: Poser 2010 vs Poser 8? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

Oh, I'm definitely sold on it, too. I just don't have $500. Yet.
If you have Poser 8, or 7, you can get the sidegrade to PP 2010 for $250. And it's been on sale at various times for $200. That's what I'm waiting for to happen again :)

With the GC box and the non GC box, I would light the non GC box brighter and then do postwork. I think the best compromise if you don't have PP 2010 for GC, and you don't want to do GC in shaders/scripts etc. with Poser 8, or 7, is to light the scene where the image looks somewhat between the brighter looking PP 2010 GC renders and darker no GC renders, and then do postwork to enhance it. But not with levels gamma to 2.2. A mix of some levels and saturation adjustments like I showed above should do it (a lot of the time). That said, I'm sold on PP 2010's GC feature. I plan to get it. It is a benefit, and will cut down on postwork. Of course it's $250 today, so I'm holding out til it's on sale again for $200. (I'm talking about the sidegrade.)

Clearly the 'GC in Postwork' demo is inferior. Don't know how it was arrived at, but one can get closer to the look of the 'Render GC in Poser Pro 2010' demo with postwork (on the No GC image). Just need to experiment. Though having PP 2010 do it seems worth it to me, so I plan to get it when the sidegrade goes on sale again.
