Ok enough of the negativity from me as I do like what I see, I do like that it will push the boundries..hopefully. I like how the figure poses and bends etc. Overall it looks to be a nice functioning figure more than we have had before. So on that front I am quite excited about it. I like how we will have native software support for Poser and Daz Studio too.
As for testing my computer couldn't handle the strain. I thought about it but then common sense prevailed.

I just want to clear up my intent about my gripe about the legs. It wasn't to belittle the maker or to cause trouble. I know these are MR's and I know how to adjust them in Photoshop I just wanted to get across to the makers of Dawn that IMHO the legs looked off. Yes I understand why it happens but from what I have been reading HiveWire want to to this better than what they did before and again in my opinion it needed to be said.
If HiveWire want to start off as they mean to carry one then things like this needs to be adressed. They said they were makng one set of SSS and one non SSS so I presumed this would have been sorted so the red can come from the SSS instead of us having to find a happy medium by changing the diffuse colour and SSS colour. Having a professional that has keener and more trained eyes to do this is more preferable to me than doing it myself. Yes I should have asked first but I was a little shocked to see it to be honest.
Or am I in a minority or just don't know enough yet? It is possible as I am fairly new still to all these advanced SSS shaders.

Quote - Call me pure.
Call me realistic.
Call me whatever you want, but I never understood why we need specular maps on the skin of a figure.
Skin and light "diffuse and/or shine" depends on the skin and the position of the light.
Skin is skin.
Be it on the arms, or on the belly or on the legs. And Light is light.
Bump, displacement and normal maps OK.
Specular maps on the skin of a figure however????
I always wondered about this myself. Most of the time I throw out the spec maps and try and do it with lighting and the gloss and spec settings.

Quote - > Quote - > Quote - Depends, you get some users that like multi-toned Skin sets and those who preffer one tone. All comes down to taste really. Then again, you get some good multi toned sets, and some bad ones, but nothing Photoshop can't fix:)
Well I am just plain fussy. :)
Do you intend on making stuff for Dawn Zev0?
I'll have to play with her some more first and see what would be useful to make or what she would need. Will only get a clear picture once all the base packages are out and I will see from there.
Good point as we don't know what she is capable of doing yet.

Thanks ZevO much appreciated. I am very good with Photoshop and don't shy away from doing things like this but again we shouldn't need to not in this day and age.
The knees are ok as the SSS will be stronger given how thin the skin is over the knee caps.

Thank you for all your replies on the red leg situation. I will reserve further judgement until I get my hands on her myself. But from paganeagle2001's samples I can see they aren't so red. So yes it could be done to a number of issues. Again thank you for all your most helpful replies.

I love the mesh, the joints and the modelling but why has she got red legs when the rest of her is not so red. I have looked at many a leg in my time and I have never seen a person's legs so red compared with the rest of the body. This is pet peeve of mine and I would prefer to have a more realistic skin from the get go.
Otherwise she is bang on. Good job.

I haven't and can't upgrade yet but I have read this
Source: http://www.yurdigital.com/forum/software-forums/vue/only-few-days-left-vue-10-way
Toward the bottom of the opening post
"Up to 30% Faster Rendering Speed - I can verify this. The Vue 9 scenes I loaded were actually rendered faster, due to the significant internal optimizations made by e-on."

Thanks Kalypso for the link. I thought this comment to be very interesting though.
*"What would be wonderful is if somebody who is actually talented at drawing, and has a tablet, would create a proper bump/displacement map. Draw it, not derived from the color map". *
I will make sure I read and digest that thread. It could be a great addition to Bump and displacement maps.

Well I went away and moved the wrist, forearm and sholder to a better position and added some wrinkles to the dispalcement map. I think I have managed to get a nice transition going down the neck from under his chin. See how the render looks tomorrow.
Again thanks for the constructive comments, it was a great help.

Nice comments and thanks for that. Yeah I see what you mean about the wrist. I will redo that thanks.
As for the neck, I hear you on that score I wish more content makers would provide a full body of age.. I may go and try to make some displacement maps to give him some wear. :D I am new to Poser so procedual could be out of my reach at the moment.
Again thanks for making me think a little more about certain aspects.
