DAZ is more heavily censored than you may realize. They are heavily influenced (if not controlled) by Marketing, who are not artists at all. They get by because of their valuable library of quality models.

I looked. Poser 2014 SR5.2 is the thing. Smith-Micro was offering that. It's no longer available anywhere. Thanks for the suggestion.

Ah, good. Tell me, any place in particular I would look for this patch? The number came up (on the search engine) right away, but it was all on non-Poser sites. They want to install a whole new copy, looks like. Is this what you are talking about?

Thank you, I appreciate your effort. I ordered a copy of 11 Pro, in the hope that 2014's behavior is a quirk. Ourias's work won't be coming around again. Same goes for Dreamland.

I've been looking at firewall things. Poser does have W10 access to the internet, but something is blocking it still. After it fails to load, it crashes. I may try a more recent version of Poser, it can't hurt. There are too many fine old Poser 3D models to just shrug, but at the moment I'm out of ideas.

Wa! This must be my lucky day!
I took a look at the article intro, I'll read the rest later. Flash, eh? and Adobe? I was a Flash user before Adobe bought Macromedia. Thanks for this writeup.
Renderosity is hosting some great models that were made 20 years ago or so, but they were made only to go into Poser. The easiest way to convert them is to load them into Poser, then export them. This is what I want to liberate:

Editing the .ini file was a good idea, but the bad behavior continued. I'm guessing it wants permission to access the internet, but it already has it. This is a great project but I'm going to look for another way.

DAZ site broken won't stay logged in I log in I'm booted to my account page and when I nav to forums it logs me out
Hey Richard H wus up with this?
can't PM or anything over there so calling it out here
It's doing that flipout thing on me too right now sign in, sign out, on and on. No trouble on the account page, software breakdown on the forum page. This follows a number of posts deleted, both of mine and by others. I saw one post deleted in less than 30 minutes. The man was complaining about deleted posts. I have received notifications that my post was deleted because I discussed politics and religion, when nothing of the sort was true. I believe these are intentional acts. There is no call for this kind of thing. Daz forum is not perfect, but there's no need to make it worse.
Thread: DAZ Studio 5 coming | Forum: DAZ|Studio
As it is, DAZ is first and foremost a clearing house for props, models, surfaces, scripts, etc. The software itself has languished over the years, but is still usable. I just read about DAZ 5 today, and I can see there's a certain amount of trepidation among users. This probably wouldn't be so if a roadmap had been provided. If there is one, I couldn't find it. All this said, I like DAZ.
Today, the term "UI" mostly means appearance, so I would be surprised to see any substantial functional changes. Limited QA will make the change seem harder than it needs to be, as will the absence of professional documentation. I'll handle it. It will still beat the devil out of rentware. Or of learning Blender.
Why there would be any point to making this software available on a MAC is beyond me. DAZ will have two programs to maintain when they can hardly maintain one. But, I doubt the users will feel this pain.
Bring it!
