Oh.. and your final image size should be around min 22 meg (8x10 @ 300ppi) minimum for a print that size. Though larger will be better quality.
Thread: Scanning 35mm slide? | Forum: Photoshop
As Sean said.. you will want to scan it at the higest resoulution possible for minimal loss in image quality. For my larger printed works I have had files in the range of 250 - 500 meg as uncomprssed .tiff's. Just to give you an idea.. the 500+ meg ones were for prints in the 20x24 size. These are drum scanned 4x5 negatives/positives. I know it might seem tedius to scan at that high.. but it is needed for good print output. Web ouput can be much smaller.

I think he was refering to the look of an uncropped 4x5, or 8x10 contact print. With the three color bleed on the edges that sometimes occurs. I am not sure how to create that effect myself with Photoshop.. heh.. I still do those the old fasioned way.. with a darkroom.

One warning.. don't use the on camera flash with a wide angle lens.. you will get light vinyetting occuring. I have 2 10D's and discovered the problem doing some tests 2 months ago using my 17-35 f2.8. Also it is not compatable with my 540EZ's or my 480EG. I had to purchase a new 420 EX Flash for it. Oh.. you might also concider getting (if you have not allready) the BG-ED3 Battery Grip. They hold 2 batterys (for longer shooting times in the field), and the virtical grip shutter is invaluable for quick compositions in the field. For my system I have the grip for both bodies, and carry 6 batterys. This way when I am on a shoot, I always have back up bodies, and batteries.
