Thanks for the explaination. I was suspicious because of the things that happen in our world. Lipsinc went under, and sometimes things happen. Glad to hear you're out there improving this technology. I think it is really important technology. I am simple university professor using 3d graphics, character animation, including lip syncing; and, compositing software to render a virtual version of me to help students quickly learn senior and graduate level genetics. I would be happy to buy your product. I will study the advantages of your product again and most likely will buy it. I like what you say about being able to use it on any model not just some. Good luck, and make a great and then greater product.

I tried not using the bumps maps but it failed to improve the situation. Very useful help from Little Dragon, thanks. Even rendering to an images sequence creates big problems. Some image files are corrupt, and finally, the last image fails to finish a render, stalling in the middle. Then that is it, the system is hung. I'm using poser 5 bcause the face lab let me create a virtual me for a course i'm teaching. Poser 5 does not yet render in Vue. Maybe I will need to get body studio and go to 3dsMax, but then what about the hair, clothes and walking issues?

You can get Mimic 1 from Daz3d for $2. I bought it a few years ago for $300. I just got Mimic 2 Pro and it is for real. I love it. By the way, it isn't a text to speech program, which is why it would have sounded so good. You record the speech, I do it using a logitech USB microphone connected to a laptop in a quite room. It is a sound to lip and face animation program. The first of its type was Mimic from a company called Lipsinc. It was a UofSC startup. Daz3d bought all rights to the technology. The program analyses the sound file and a text file that you make that writes out what the sound file says. These are then used to make an animated pose file for poser. (The one on the link above might be an illegal knockoff. If not maybe they can explain it to us.)

I just read a posting from 3 years ago that stated the problem then was with poser and bump maps. That they need to be off for animation rendering or the kind of problem we are having will occur. I would have thought something like this would have been fixed by now, but most people using poser use it for single frames. I'll try this on my system tonight and report my findings.

Attached Link: Me too, serious animation rendering issue.
I have exactly the same problem. Image sequences end even sooner than the AVI frames. Cancelling is only a word that comes up on the screen, without any real meaning or purpose. I'm doing lip syncronization with Mimic 2 Pro from Daz3d. (The Mimic 2 pro program is super.) What happens to the sound file if you export images? Is it painless to get the sound and image files realigned? What is this leaking memory issue, and how can it be controlled? Even uncompressed video, raw with no codex, fails, as does any codex that I try. The solutions above don't quite do it; can we get some more help on this one? Thanks (Hope you don't mind me adding to your thread fiction.)Thread: Poser 5 to Poser 4; or is it necessary? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have used Poser since version 2 and using 4 have generated a number of Mimic animations, which include a 3d virtual classroom and my animated professor for tutoring students in genetics. Because I use more than 25 different apps, teach genetics, cell biology, embryology..., do research and am getting old, I tend to worry over the details of program use when needed and dump much of the detail when not using it. My issue here was as originally stated: Use of Vue 4 with Poser 5. Things have changed since casamerica's first response to this thread, that it could not be done. Now, because of Phoul's efforts, it seems we can use Poser 5 with Vue 4 and Mover 4. I was hoping to save time and have with the excellent help of Phoul and c1cle. I hope that Phoul re-posts his method in the Vue forum; there are members who would certainly appreciate the info there. I posted there as well but got a terse single response "No". Thanks for your last response Phoul; I am a bit obsessed with clarity. I will update you via your site later if you like with links to my finished projects. As far as Poser 5 is concerned, the 2.1 service pack seemed to have stabilized everything quite a bit for me. Most of the problems with this version were from the piracy protection scheme, which they removed. I wish Curious Labs and E-onsoftware the greatest success. I would hate to see progress stall with Poser 4. Thanks to all, for your help and patience. Signing off, See

Phoul, Just so I am perfectly clear: 1st I would create the new character using the face room. 2. Copy the following folders from P5 to P4 * Goemetries/P5xxx * Textures/poser 5 Textures/figure textures/xxx 3. Create new folder in Libraries/character/xxx (replace xxx with which ever character/folder you need) 4. Set P5 preferences to do not use compression 5. Load (or create it?) your character and save to new library, this saves a .cr2 which P4 can read. 6. Copy .cr2 from P5 to P4 7. Load new figure and save as PZ3 (into P5? and this is when I would use mimic and otherwise animate?) 8.Load Vue4 and import to your scene and you are done. Thanks so much for your excellent expert help.

Thanks C1rcle for the way. Phoul, Very cool. It works now. What "... some ways/tricks to import P5 animations (textures, blablabla) into Vue4" . You made my month. But what are the ways/tricks?

Whereas the animations from your site itself worked flawlessly with my quicktime plugin, the animation from the link above failed to load past the point of the appearence of the initial image. I will try again..

C1rcle, how did you try them? Did you place them into 4's runtime as you would any other character or did you make a project? Phoul, I visited your link. It came up with an image, some problems with textures, but no movement. I am looking forward to any additional results. I also viewed many of your other animations. I am truly impressed. Helpful results so far. Thanks so much. See

Thanks, Therefore the issue now is how can I move a Poser 5 generated face or character into Poser 4. Poser 5 has a system for generating a face from pictures of a person's head. I need to use a head made from mine (those in charge are demanding this).
