Thread: So... what is going on? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hello, This is just a wild guess.... I had a similar experience once with a SCSI harddrive. I had to format the drive with format /U . Poser would just open and say "Out of memory". Reinstall of Poser had no effect. After complete format of the HD and reinstall it worked fine. If you already formated the drive then I'm not sure. Could be a bad call to a texture path that isn't correct. Try deleteing the troubled characters rsr files from RuntimeGeometriesect. and then let Poser rebuild them. Thats all I can think of. Serpent
Thread: UV mapping | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hello, You should do the UV Mapping right after the creation in your modeler. Then do the PHI and JP steps. This will avoid the problem in the future. Serpent
Thread: Moving ahead :) | Forum: Poser Technical
Hello, If you point a phi file at multible obj files "like in your first example" it will load the verts into the cr2. This has always been that way at least since poser 3. The easiest way to fix your model would be with Compose. Open your file3n.obj in Compose and the import the head .obj and click the "merge on import" option. Then save it to a new model name. Import the obj into poser and see if the head is lined up correctly. If it's ok then close poser and run your phi pointed to this new obj file. If not. Then you have to use poser to figure out how much the head needs to be moved. Compose can move individual obj groups in the exact X Y or Z to match Posers dials. In other words you have to import your model. Then import the head with all options off. Then dial the head in Y or whatever till it is correct then write the dial numbers down. Go into Compose and "Xform" or move the head group that amount then save out. Then run the phi to create a new figure based on a single obj model. Compose is the answer and it will not lose any usemetals that are set. Hope this is helpful. Serpent
Thread: Smoothing On/Off | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You could avoid the smoothing by converting your prop to DXF with your modeling program or 3DWin. Then import the DXF into poser. It will only be a prop though, not poseable. Serpent

Thread: HELP!!!! : Creating a New Figure | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hello, You have done well to get this far and have a new poser figure. The next step is to adjust the Joint Parameters one by one. Turn off all IK then do the "Centers" first. Set the center JP on each joint. Then you can do the Bend JP's. After you adjust a JP you have to save the figure to the libraries icons using the little "+" sign. But fix this not walking thing first. As far as working in the walk designer....the walk designer is based on the Poser "Stick Mans" joint names. Your figure' part names must match exactly. The case of your names must match exactly also. example: you said lshldr, rshldr ...the Poser standard is lShldr, rShldr upper case on the "S". The correct phi names for the legs are... hip lThigh lShin lFoot lToe You must have these upper case first letters in the PHI. You need to delete the RuntimeGeometriesYour model whatever.RSR Fix the names in the PHI and also in your obj groups names. Then convert Hier file and then it should walk. But still will have to edit JP's. Serpent

Thread: Hello, I must be going. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't know how to say my personal feelings on this. The written word is not my gift. So I just want to say "Thank You" for all the help you have given me from the start. Your friend, Serpent
Thread: Calling all Poser/Lifeforms wizard's!!! Help! | Forum: Animation
Hello, That should be easy to fix Vince. LifeForms can convert movments from one model to another very easy. Open poser and load the poser horse in it's default pose. Set the animation frames to just 1. Export the horse 1 frame animation as a BVH. Example: poserhorse.bvh Open LifeForms and load the LifeForms horse gallop, select all the frames and "Copy". You can close that one and then open the poserhorse.bvh you saved, go to the timeline and "Paste". The model's Joint Editor will open and you will have to tell LF which part matches which part for it to convert. Example: the LF Gallop might call it LowerBack, where the Poser horse calls it hip. You just set these up to match. Then you export the new BVH and it will work a lot better. This is the whole reason for using LifeForms to start with. Serpent

Hello, What OS are you running? I think NT 4 WorkStation would be the best bet for your system. Serpent
Thread: Animating Poser facial expressions in Bryce | Forum: Bryce
Hello, Ray Dream Studio 5 can import Poser 3 pz3 animation files if you have the plug-ins installed correctly. I don't think any other versions of Poser or RDS will work. As for Bryce you would have to import one obj frame at a time. Serpent
