heck, click any of the links on the site and you'll find stuff to lok at. Most of it is unbelievably expensive though. One of the best ideas would be to put a pencil to paper. Its hella cheap, and extremely satisfying after much practice. you wont be able to pick up anything fast and be good at it, but being a good sketcher/drawer will go a long way into aiding other future endeavours.

but fixer is recyclable right? We did it all the time in school... does it depend on the brand i guess?

tell'em to go phuck themselvews. There are a lot of pretentious whiners who bitch and whine about little things like using setups and whatnot, and questioning different techniques, likely because they themselves don't have the courage to get themselves out of the rut they are obviously in and try something new. These people limit themselves and limit what they feel allowed to do. There are no "rules," though art theory majors will tell you different. These people also probably wouldn't dare quetion Man Ray's techniques, nor Jerry Uelsmann. even so bro, i still figure you coulda posted that 4x5 in the photo gallery. It's a photographic technique after all. People will do all sorts of crazy things and still call it a painting. In the end though, it's up to you. For all the people that have sticks up their asses as of late, see a proctologist already. This is gonna turn into photo.net pretty soon if everyone doesn't lighten up a bit. What you I call a photograph you may call utter trash, but that's okay, just don't be offended when I say the same about your stuff.

umm, the fixer we used at school was recyclable, we'd just reuse it, so i wasnt planning on dumping that down. does it depend on which fixer is being used? and back to the original question, any ideas on what names and brands, sizes, and approx price of them would be best?

click the link. This man has been printing ONLY in darkrroms for almost 50 years, and be damned if many people can equal his work even with photoshop.Thread: Take it outside! or Take a break!! | Forum: Photoshop
I would like to stray off topic now to start a separate discussion... a peanut is neither a pea nor a nut, discuss. ry
Thread: A suggestion to improve the gallery......... | Forum: Photography
been suggested 100's of times in many forums in various ways of phrasing. It may happen, but only briefly. Best idea is to pay no attention to the hot 20. not many people consider it to be too serious of a thing and more o ften than not, don't pay it much attention. as for the "deserving" pictures not getting hits, well, that's the way the cookie crumbles.

part of me wants to say leave the galleries as is, separating them all would make us seem like poser wannabees.. than another part of me says wtf do I care, cuz I haven't checked the galleris in months... ...hmmmm, I stand on the line of indifference.

The KPT series has always been popular. I dunno, I never really use filters except a few native ones like the standard unsharp mask and whatnot. I did win Aurora from www.digi-element.com last year, and for all the bitching i gave trying to get it to install properly, I still haven't used it... it does looks really cool though. When I scan some negatives I'll be making some use out of it for sure... http://www.nikmultimedia.com/usa/products/samples/all_samples/samples_nikefex.shtml the above company also makes some killer tools, check them out.

Not everyone is a professional photographer, most are merely hobbyists. Not everyone has the resources to buy the expensive slr camera, many make due with simple "snapshot" cameras. Telling those people to get their exposures right is a waste of breath, seeing as they dont have a choice. Learn to live with the fact that not everyone is a professional with pro-level tools. The photography gallery and forum are for, and i quote from the little bit under the banner, "all persons interested in photography", and having an interest doesn't mean you have the time nor means to do what pros are expected to do. Comparing Ansel Adams with the average hobbyist is a pointless argument. If someone like Alpha were to start posting shots that fall into your argument, I'd be the first person to jump on his back and scream into his ear "WAKE UP!", but very few people are at his level in terms of photographic skill, both pre and post production, nor do many have as much experience as he has which has led to his skill level today. Everyone starts somewhere. If you were to pick up 3D Studio max, and decide within a year to make a model of a Pontiac GTO (is that what its called?), people COULD post under it saying its substandard compared to the rest of the pontiac gto models out there, but then again after only a year of working with the program, you wouldn't really be at that level now would you... To tell everyone who isn't a pro to buck up and do things this and that way because that's what they SHOULD do according to you because you aren't satisfied with their work because they may not be at your level because they may not have the same access to the tools you use nor have as much experience as you may have, well, you're going to be quite unhappy as the days go by with those same people STILL not doing things your way, so maybe a place like http://www.photo.net/ is more your style. There are plenty of people there who say exactly what you're saying many times a day to aspiring amateurs and hobbyists, essentially taking all the fun away from the photographer (or maybe graphic artist? Perhaps "hack" would be a more suitable term), so you'll feel right at home. in the mean time, people like to have fun in this forum. there are people with 20K$ worth of equipment shooting professionally, and people with 200$ 2 megapixel digital cameras and photo deluxe software. It's a fun place, and I'd like to keep it that way, as photo.net is a boring and uninviting place if you're anything but a god.
Thread: Game Forum? | Forum: Community Center
i personally dont think its a good idea. Game forums regarding to game problems belong at game sites. Renderosity is not a gamers site. There are hundreds of forums out there, and sometimes dozens for one game alone (a la counterstrike, UT, Q3, etc).
