Im curently at the Anapharm clinic once again. This time though, I'm heavily documenting my stay for a class project. It's a web documentary, which will be completed in about 3 months, though my stay at anapharm ends on wednesday, plus 3 return visits for quick blood draws. During my stay, I'm taking many notes on everything from thoughts, whats going on around me, etc... I'm also taking photographs with my girlfriends digicam. the pics aer not anything artistic or fantastic, or at least they won't be. this is not a choice. They do not allow photographing of the facilities for many reasons. So, in this closed and confined space, I am resorting to being extremely discreet and out of the eyes of anapharm presonelle, which also means that the shots aren't spectacular. So far, I'm 3 hours into my stay here, and I get on wednesday morning. I'm extremely excited, as this project is gonna help give me a good name not only in school, but depending on how well it's executed, in the net.art world as well (or at least, maybe just having a name in that world would be more than fine, a good name is gonna take awhile). The name's Couldrey, Ryan couldrey... ummm, middle name, Bond.....

...didn't I read this in a Michael Crichton novel? If we don't hear from you in a month, can I have your Nikon?

I once worked at a place like this from the scientists side. IF POSSIBLE strike up a conversation with one of the scientists. See what type of experiences they have had. ALSO don't forget to photograph the exterior of the building and the entrance way to your sleeping area. Picts of people doing what they do to spend the time. Pics of the food. See if you can get a recipe of it. Pics of the lab people doing their jobs. This can definitely be an interesting experience if you approach it from the correct direction. Congrats. Chances are you are making more money than some of the lab people working there AND you get free food! Bsteph

My mind goes back to when the Animal Rights people freed some Beagles over here a few years back (I think it was beagles - or was it rabbits?) - they took them and they got free - and went back to the labs..... (",)

umm, pictures here are illegal brian, this is covert spiderman style work right now, which means some blurry pictures. I already let the flash go off by accident once, whew! that was a close one, but no one noticed it was me.... As for the "scientists", they are nothing more than medical technicians. Anapharm is like a contractee, other private companies hire anapharm to conduct the clinical trials of generic medications. They really dont do much, that I see, besides administering the meds, watching us, collecting our blood, and serving us food. as for pics of everythingelse, I have to keep everything censored in the final project. The people have all signed agreements stating that their identities will not be revealed. I refuse to break that rule. Also, if I state for the record on the project itself where the study took place, I could easily be banned from future studies. That last thing wasnt part of the plan, but it came to mind earlier today. Therefore, the word "Anapharm" will not be mentioned once in the project site itself. Workers will also be censored. by censored, i mean a black line across the eyes. and I am definitely making more money than the lab people.. in one shot that is. They on the other hand have two pros against my one pro. They a:have a steady job with the facilioty and will thus make more money than me given maybe a few more days, and B: They aren't being tested with generic versions of medications.

Aack you are doing the bar across the eye thing? I hate that. Why don't you do the gausian blur of the head. Same effect and less work I think. But suit yourself. I figure the scientists perform experiments on 'uh waste. If you can catch their expression while they are working I thought it might be interesting. Good luck. Bsteph
