Thread: Dang Bryce Basher.... | Forum: Bryce
I could probably go off for pages about this subject but ill try to make my point simple...... Art is art, it doesn't matter how you got there. Now examples meant for learning purposes are different you may need to describe how you made the material and what post work you did, or where you modeled it and how you rendered it at what level etc....... all right i think thats all i need to say cause if you any further i may just rant on for days, and im not in the mood for that, nor is this forum....

I did take pictures of the vinyll's on the turntable in order to get the texture it's works quite well for some things. However with this mixer it was all free hand. Made all the textures using Photoshop, I sat and typed up all the labeling and graphed it out in photoshop, then i used to brushes, and added some scratches etc. to give it the realistic feel.

I'm not sure what that guy was referring to as being a big no-no what referring to exactly. I dont want to be too defensive, but I compare using a rounded cube in bryce to using any particular shape of brush in real painting. It's just a tool sure isn't clipart. I think he must understood me in the first place though. But it does seem that this does irritate people other than me, plus I'm a newbyy and I'm really picky about software so I'm still finding little flaws that really piss me off. But its all good i love the program anyways.

Hmmmm, no the x,y,z, cordinates are lines up correctly. It's just that the stupid people who made bryce decided to mess up all the rotations on their premade object before the turned them into to objects. So when there coordinates are all 0 they are still crooked, so to straited them you have to set your rotates to like 27, 15, 69. (example). It's just really annoying thats all, basically its the imported objects could be really handy, but them messed em all up so there a pain.

Well I'm refering to the actual preset objects that came with Bryce, any other import is a different story. However, when I program comes with a set of presets they should at least be usable and not all screwed up....

Nuski.....I used a photo of an actual record and loaded that into a photographic texture, the placement was a real pain cause the texture wasn't centered onto the cylinder, but i managed to make it fit.....if you not using photographic textures then... well i reccomend you start, cause i've seen amazing differences watching other artists use them. well the "C" on the record is actually printed on the record but its not a "C" its just part of the scratchy design of the artwork, and yes prodigy does do firestarter very nice. Well, about the tonearm. I spent like an hour trying to figure out how to put toruses together with cylinders to make it bend and well i didn't get anything from that, since it's like impossible to to make the thicknesses up. What I ended up doing was duplicating the long straight cylinder making about 1 unit in length and placing it the end of the long one. Then using multi-replicate, i made about 40 or so of them with an small offset and a small rotation until i found the right curves. I'll Post a Wireframe later today if a get a chance. Thanks Again for all the comments, didn't think i'd stir up this much talk. Devin Taylor Thinking Allowed Graphics

Haha, thats actually funny that you would mention that I'm not a youngin, cause to be quite honest I'm only 19 haha. I'm a DJ so my turntables are very precious to me, and the record is actually a single from The Prodigy. About the experience, well I've only been working with 3D for about a week now, but I have been a web designer for about 4 years, and a graphic artist for 6. But thanks for comments. Thanks. I did do the LP's myself, there were really easy actually, I just took a picture of one of mine and use that as a texture for a cylinder with a little bit of a bump map... I spent alot of time walking back and forth from my turntable to the computer to get the details down. Devin Taylor Thinking Allowed Graphics

Thread: (Newbie Question) How to Bend a Bar.... | Forum: Bryce
Hmm, Interesting I understand how this is suppposed to work now however for some reason my stupid Bryce won't open it. Infact it wont recognize any OBP file besides the user.obp when i try to import them. Strange. Thanks a ton for your help though. By the way I did do some work with multi-replicting small cylinders and it looks pretty decent with the right Texture however its quite polygon intensive, so hopefully i can figure out Madmax's smartpipe.
