There should be some in the free stuff section - just search under "2D." The attached link has a lot of different textures, though not all of 'em tile.

A lot of times you can simply slap a random wood map on the object, adjust the diffuse color (to tan or some shade of brown) if it needs to be darkened and then change the lighting model to matte (furniture polish? what's that?).

There's a plug-in over at DAZ called Morph Loader that lets you use morph targets.

Is it saving an additional copy (one in the location where the original scene is and one in the open content folder)?

This may be a bit late, but if you want the effect to be applied to the globe itself you could try JLG's free shaders . There are a couple of "Glow" ones that might work. I used one of 'em for a pic in my gallery ("Abracadabra").
