Hello Bopper, you got it in one! Is that a BopperWhack? Changed to raytraced and poof, gone!
Many, many thanks.

Thread: Poser Pro 2010 beta - list of known bugs | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
@Garee I did NOT in any way imply I was entitled. SM have extremely and very graciously deigned to offer existing owners of Poser Pro and Poser 8 to take part in their beta. I simply do not understand why, after doing us this exceedingly great honour, they don't use any of the probably quite valuable data that we are able to give them.
I have been involved in the software industry for 36 years now. I am quite probably able to submit a bug report as well as anyone and my feedback is probably in every way as good as you "professional" testers.
Don't bother replying. I am not monitoring this thread any more.

@Gareee I realise they are a small team but from personal experience know the benefits of running my code on as many different machines as possible. At the very least they could see if there is something pervasive that has been overlooked.
As far as me being "greatful"Â for their kindness in releasing a beta... that is rather condescending and probably worth an apology.

@Gareee... You guys who are beta testing are a limited resource. There are few of you and many of us. with the best will in the world, you WILL miss bugs. With many many "amateur" esters that could be utilised as a great free resource it really does make sense to give someone the task of scanning through properly filed bug reports.
The more machines the code is tested on the more chance there is of a combination of different software environment and beta release turning up buigs that you guys will never encounter.
Putting a product out to market with more bugs than it need have will mean much more very expensive support after the fact. It is much more economic to release good code and have to provide much less support. It also gives a much better impression of the product to the consumer base.
Why does Micro$oft relese betas of its operating systems months in advance of RTM? Because they know that investing in soe time fixing bugs before release will save them millions of dollars.
So, in answer to your posited query, would I rather they cranked out fixes to the bugs they have or spend some time checking through bug reports an afternoon a week for one person? I would MUCH rather they checked the bug reports and lengthen the project by a week or two.

Well Gareee, I do wish you would pass some feedback from the beta testing community to SM that it really would be good to have a list of bugs available for us. Its pointless us sending them issues that they hav resolved and pointless sending them duplicate issues. There are a load of open source bugtrackers out there, maybe if they set one up and made it available they would get much more useful inf from the community.
With things the way they are I for one don't feel much like spending a lot of time reporting problems when I have no idea of knowing that what I send is useful or not.
Also, if they have newer versions, why dont they make one available to us? This also would provide them with valuable feedback.
Please pass this on to SM. Thanks!

@anyone, anyone seen a better list than SM's "To be listed... " ??
Thread: Installing your Runtime (free program) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi RobynsVeil,
This tool wouldn't be terribly useful to you because of the reorganizing that you do after content has been installed. It is designed primarily for installing lots of content quickly - i.e. after having purchased several products or after a hard disk crash or after rebuild of your PC.
Regards

Quote - A year later, and no reply whatsoever to my problem, including and IM - not the kind of product support I'd have wished from a Vendor at Renderosity.
I'm sorry, I did not see your post. Why did you not email me? I don't understand your words about IM because I am not on IM.
Simply move the folder to wherever you wish. It will work anywhere on the same PC.
Any other problems, please email me at the address in the readme/instructions file or here using sitemail.
Regards,
Adrian
Thread: Poser 8... First Impressions | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well, now I got the library to display at last, I have used it for a while.
I hated the old library and I wanted something different and they have given us something different and I am not sure if it massively better.
The old library was "clunky" (technical term, that). The navigation was poor, having to scroll up to the top of the items in a folder to double-click the up arrow was the worst. What it needed was "up one level" button that was visible at all times. This would have gone a long way to making it a lot more usable.
One thing I did like however was the ability to size it wide and tall and so see a lot of thumbnails at once, often the whole content of a folder was shown on one screen although the text didn't wrap below the icons and this often made it difficult to choose between very similar items.
The new library, it has been noted, needs the ability to display all icons large. Without this the user has to do way too much clicking to decide which item they need. I beleive this will be fixed in the future.
However, my main point is that the new library will, as it is now, never show as many items on the screen at once as the old library (assuming the old library was resized). Resizing the new library simply makes more empty horizontal space and the items shown are still in a column down the left-hand side.
I am guessing that it is not possible program the library to display multiple columns of content in the new tree view, I would be surprised it it is. In this respect, the old library was better than the new.
Sorry.

Thanks pjz99, life is too short for SM support. I will try d3d's utility if it happens again.

Quote - Hmmm. Installed p8. Worked fine yesterday. Started it up today and the library pallette is blank. I gather others have had this issue. No idea how to make it show. Disappointed!!
We seek it [the library] here, we seek it there, we seek it everywhere...
Its back. Exited the program. Went back in, still nothing. exited and restarted again... voila. Library tree...

Quote - > Quote - ... remember that normal mapping has been available since Poser Pro (1), and I don't know of a single product or piece of content that uses it....
http://www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/-/the-streets-of?item=9264&_m=d has nornmal mapped versions for Poser Pro and for DS 3.
So there is one item, at least :-)
