Another Mac user here; one of the problems with DAZ downloads, even if they're labelled for Poser and manually downloaded, is that the folder structure of the zip file places the 'runtime' folder inside a 'content' folder, which is a DS setup and Poser may not recognise it when using the 'install from zip file' option. The easiest workaround is to go into the downloaded and decompressed 'content' folder, compress the 'runtime' folder inside, then install this new zip within Poser. To go back to the original post: Carrara content can't be imported into Poser AFAIK. You need a copy of Carrara and then you can (theoretically at least) import your Poser content into it.

BB - personally I'd love even a simple "front end" on Matmatic - and please please please do the same for VSS. Both these tools have redefined the way I see, use and understand 3D materials - they should be built in to Poser (though only with a hefty cut for your good self) or sold for a good solid price as a standalone.
Anyone who has used your work will jump on a commercial version - I'm a BB evangelist!

I've also deleted figures and had the control switch to rotate afterwards. Someone at SM is clearly a big rotation fan...

I have an issue with the thread known as men, men, men...
And it's not the men.
What on earth is wrong with meerkats driving buggies?

Beautifully said Penguinisto - useful insight and a great summary. Now who is behind that clown make-up I wonder...
Popping back to Dazzleland now, which is not such a bad place to be.

TZORG - You are the wind beneath my wings...
(Yah, that could be interpreted a number of ways, but I simply adore your SOH)

Quote - male figures are shunned.
Not on the Virile Noir thread (in The Commons), amongst others...
Swing on by and check us out some time!

Quote - Do you have some sort of data to back that statement up? How do you know DS users don't outnumber Poser users on their site by now? I'm not a DS user or fan myself, but I don't see how it could possibly have that many less users since it's free and supported at that site.
There was an informal poll on the DAZ forums a cuppla months back asking "what is your primary 3D app?" The results were Poser @ approx 37%, D|S @ approx 32%, with Bryce, Carrara, Vue, C4D, Max, LW and Maya in rapidly descending order.
Poser vs D|S is one of the regular causes of thread drift over there of course, but it's usually stopped by the dry wit and gentle hand of Richard H, who's an excellent mod IMO.
The WIP poses for Ryan are looking good EClark - can I make a request for some everyday stand/sit ones as well as the BB style?
Cheers!

Sorry about this EClark - I'm gonna try out your poses and hopefully get that thread back on track if I can. Feeling very guilty that I contributed to any discord. I appreciate your work and your contributions to the DAZ forums. Please don't stay away because some have jumped right back on their favorite bandwagons.
Some of the nice people at least said thanks!

Thanks Tyger_purr - you're probably right about Space Navigator. I've used up my current 3D budget on the P8 upgrade, but I'll put this at the top of the list.
(Note to self: Stop wasting money on extra content when you haven't installed everything you've bought...)
Edit to add - only pity with the Navigator is that the list of supported apps drops significantly when you switch the list to Mac OSX. Still Poser at least will work.

I would love to have mouse control over camera positioning - scroll-wheel to zoom in and out, right-click and drag to rotate, that sort of thing...

Quote - I was there browsing the commons forum last nigth, in one thread people were actually spilling their guts out about how bad Poser 8 is.
That behavoiur can be excused (lack of knowledge, stupidity etc) but in this case it all was based on a render someone posted showing very bad deformation on the Poser females neck, a deformation caused by using one of the canned poses from the library.
The mob (in lack of a better word) ruled out Poser 8 based on one bad picture, rendered by someone who had actually found a bad pose that messed up the character.
I felt uncomfortable and left the building.
Regards / Jonny
Hands up - I'm guilty! I was the someone who posted the picture that got people laughing that made people mad that lived in the forum that DAZ built. This was not posted in the Freepository thread that EClark started - and EClark, I'm sorry your work wasn't appreciated - free content is a generous gesture that should never be dissed in any way.
To be fair to myself, I didn't deliberately pick that particular pose to make Alyson look bad. I picked it at random and was shocked by how badly the figure deformed. I actually think that Alyson is a better figure than Ryan, who I can't help feeling looks just weird.
Ahem, anyway... I've was using Poser for quite a while before I even aware of DAZ and I have no interest in D|S. I have to say though, that apart from a few bad apples, the folks on the DAZ forums have been very helpful, generous, and kind to me. I've learnt a lot there and I've found that by and large people are far friendlier over there than at a number of other communities.
I don't think i've come across a single forum that doesn't have the occasional software war. I certainly didn't mean to contribute to one. I'm a Poser-person and will remain so. I don't understand why people have to play those silly "my software's better than yours" games. So childish.
Use the software you like, contribute to whichever forums you wish, live and let live.
Thread: VSS Script Question | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
BB - Thanks so much for your full and lucid response - I'm glad to say I understand every word.
I would not the only one to be delighted if you released a 'preview' version of the GUI version of VSS, but I understand your other commitments. I've been watching VSS (and your other clever techniques) since you started posting, but I haven't commented because I didn't have any useful suggestions, just sincere admiration - so have always meant to say that you have that to the max.
I've also seen the previews of the Flex/Flash interface and can see how wonderfully easy it would be to use.
I do think (from other comments on many fora, and my own experience in recommending VSS) that there would be a huge take-up for the full product. Would you consider an outlet for the product where customer support is handled by the publisher? Enough said.
If the capabilities of VSS, Mathmatic and Parmatic could somehow be combined in a single GUI you'd have an essential product that would grab the entire market IMO, but probably wiser to polish them up as mini-apps.
Thanks again for sharing your extensive knowledge so freely. You're an inspiration.
Now stop working and get some rest!
Very best wishes,
AJ

Quote - Well if it said it was skipping some part, and you wanted it to not skip - then yes. That's what it told you - no rule matched (something) - skipping
Sorry to be so dense BB, but what if you want it to skip everything in the conforming figure - can this be achieved without modifying the VSS rules themselves - i.e. some change in the naming of the parts of the conforming figure?
Thanks again for your help - Are you serious that there will be no full version of VSS until Poser 8? (spotted that comment at RDNA)
