You can see the results of my tests in the thread I posted at DAZ.
In short, both CMS and DAZ Studio are needed for the projection templates to show up in Carrara, but autofit does work without them and in fact the templates seem to do more harm than good with most of the items I tested.
Thread: I can't PM or Email from DAZ | Forum: Carrara
Okay, my bad. Dunno about my reputation, but then I have so much personal stuff clouding my judgment lately that it's probably best to try not to worry about such things too much :P

I don't know what you're saying -- it seems mildly insulting, something about my reputability or lack thereof? -- but I'll just take it as a "no thank you" and respond with "Okay" :P

manley, if you want something added to the known issues thread at DAZ you can PM me here, and I'll post your message attributed to a "manly anonymous contributor" or something :)

Quote - Still can't post over at the DAZ forums. Bizarre. You don't think they banned me when I wasn't looking? Keep coming across posts I want to reply to, and I can't. Sad. :(
I had issues like this, using Firefox.
Try this:
log out if you're logged in
go to the store, http://daz3d.com/ or whatever
Log In, then try to post
After this I was able to use the forum as normal, but it would periodically boot me out and I'd have to do this again. This hasn't happened in a while though; now it occasionally gives me cloudflare errors which go away if I relogin...
Thread: Wish it was made for Poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm not really into cars, but it needs to have functional doors or at least fully modeled doors that I can rig myself if necessary, and a usable interior. If detail is lacking it needs to be cheap, because I don't like to spend much on things that are only useful as background clutter.
Here's an example, this is the only car model I've bought so far:

I agree with BB though, ordinary contemporary vehicles would be nice. I have Stonemason's Urban Sprawl 2, and very few cars to populate such a scene.

Quote - Could landscapes be created in Bryce and exported to Poser?
Yes, terrains can be exported as a mesh or heightmap, along with the color map. Or you could render in Bryce and use the render in BagginsBill's enrivonment sphere. The latter is actually speculation, I'm not sure Bryce can render images in whatever configuration the sphere requires, but it's probably doable.
Trees generated in Bryce can also probably be exported, not sure about that either.
Thread: Is Genesis even a new mesh? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I took a closer look and you're right, the mesh is pretty different.
edit: the UVmap does look very much the same though (which is a good selling point)
Genesis has UV sets for all 4th gen figures, V4's is the default.

Quote - I think it's really unsettling how so many people on the DAZ forums are wetting themselves with joy over conformers that have just outright terrible fitting, even on the basic FBMs. What's up with that.
90 % of everything is crap, yet much of it still sells. The good folks at DAZ forums are hardly special in this regard.

Quote - More realistic (aka Soul Calibur style) breast jiggle. :thumbupboth:
Now all we need is a new base character that will support this feature properly... IE one with two bones in each breast to control movement.
Who's with me on this?!
You totally stole that idea from Genesis, it already has breast bones!
;)

Quote - Furthermore if you examine the file list of morphs available you'll see Clone, CTRL, FBM, FHM, MCM, PBM, PHM, SCL, and VSM prefixes. Guess what that means? That there is the capability to create actor specific morphs using the CCT.
What some folks are getting stuck on is that without the CCT all you can make areFBMs so are presuming from single indication that there are no groups in Genesis.
The mesh is cut up into groups just like all Poser/DS meshes previous to it.
If it wasn't, integrating the Bullet Physics library to provide a dynamic cloth plug-in would be a trivial matter to a skilled programmer.
I don't get the point in your rambling about the groups. You can put as many groups into any mesh as you like, that doesn't necessarily have any bearing on what you can or cannot do with the mesh.
And how is Bullet Physics relevant here? As far as I know, it wasn't even designed to be used for simulating clothing, at least not the way it's done in these programs (Poser, DS).
Thread: Question about modeling hybrid clothing | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The implied answer seems to be that hybrids are made more or less the same way as conformers.
Based on my own experiment earlier today it appears that dynamic parts need to be rigged (i.e. attached to a bone), otherwise they don't show up in the list of parts to be clothified.
Also, conforming clothing is generally modeled using neatly arranged quads used sparingly, whereas dynamics tend to benefit from an evenly distibuted and dense mesh (delauney triangulation). The threads about dynamic clothing linked to in the stickied post in this forum provide more detail.
I suppose the mini-tutorial then would be:
Create your item as if it were a conformer, but follow the guidelines for modeling dynamic cloth for the parts that are to be clothified.
Rig the mesh like any conformer.
That said, I'm sure there's more to this. Please correct any mistakes and add more details about best practices, et cetera. :)
