Karen, Thanks for that. Consider me foxed, and now suitably unfoxed. That's exactly what I needed. Thank you so much. Chloe
Thread: P5 Firefly Pob: Help Save "Suzie Four Nostrils" From A Life Of Sollitude | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
She's a P5 Judy who's face has been modified through the Face Room to characterise the face (so she's basically not Judy anymore). With or without shadows, they're still there. With or without backfacing polygons, they're still there. Took a really close look at her head to see if the teeth were in any strange position. Don't think that's it. This character has rendered fine in the past. Hopefully it's a one off that will never plague me again. Still there has to be a reason for it. For the moment, she can turn her head 90 degrees so those unsightly extra nostrils are out of sight and ought of mind. I appreciate everyone's help to try and overcome this. If someone reads this and knows the answer, please post it. Thanks again all. Chloe

"I don't know what the France has gone wrong here". Means I don't know why this error is occurring. Sorry if you were confused. I'm still confused. The original low res render was using the Firefly renderer. I've experimented with doing a full render minus Raytracing, Casting Shadows, Texture Filtering etc... each in turn, but in every case, the "mystery nostrils" are still present. I can render using the P4 Renderer but it's not as sharp. I'll try it on Production and see if that does me any good. I have a number of ways to "work around it", however, I'm most interested in why it's actually happening in the first place. If anyone can shed any light, I'd be grateful. Thanks Chloe

Thread: What texture/character would you prefer me to do next??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You should do some textures for the neglected Poser characters. Don and Judy. There's just not much stuff out for those two yet, so there's a void that needs filling. Chloe

I just saw this on the news. www.ursmeier.ch is that Portuguese Ref's own website. Feel free to pay him a visit and tell him what you think of him. Chloe
Thread: RAM? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
When my PC renders, it's not the processor that spikes, it's the Page File Usage. If your machine has the capacity (and with more than a Gig of RAM it probably does) you can increase the Page File Maximum. I don't know how, but someone will either add onto this post, or one of your "computer buddies" should know how. This conflicts with what was said above. Specifically, that "rendering is governed by processor speed". I'm sure that plays a part, but like I said, it's the Page File usage that rises dramatically while my processor speed tootles along at normal speed. Chloe

Sorry Dave, It's a ball gag. The image conforms to the requirements of the site. Don't understand what you're up in arms about. Chloe
Thread: If a third party were to write a Poser 5 Manual, would you buy it.? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
A "dummies guide" would be helpful for new users definately. Call me old fashioned, but I would prefer a hold in your hands, open and read book, though I'm warming to computerised manuals. It sounds like it would be a very useful tool. Chloe

You can create your own Morphs using Morph Targets. If you've got P5 and the "Face Room" once you've conformed a face, you can set it as a Morph Target for the character. Then morph the characters face to that form adjusting the dials. As far as creating your own Morph Injections goes, that's beyond me, but I'm sure there are alot of people here who can either offer advice or direct you to an information source. Chloe
Thread: Trouble With P5 Face Room | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Ugh. Selecting "Spawn Morph Target" works, but the face moves and the eyes stay in place! Bothersome. I'll have to save my faces as characters for now. There's got to be a simpler way. How do I delete the "head morph" that I added, by the way, if anyone knows. Thanks again. Chloe
Thread: Poser Files | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm fairly new but this might be helpful to you if you're dealing with zips. I was very confused as to how to extract them to the correct location, and very nervous about putting them in the "correct place". Most downloadable files have their own "Runtime" instructions which will see that the files are extracted to the correct place. So... 1) Create a "Temp" folder somewhere you can easily locate in your computer. 2) Run Winzip and extract the files to your "Temp" folder. 3) (Shut Winzip down) Double click on your "Temp" folder, and there should be a "Runtime" folder inside. 4) Right click the "Runtime" folder and select CUT. 5) Now, open your Explorer files (the one with all your drives) and select Program Files/CuriousLabs/Poser5. 6) You will see a couple of folders and a bunch of icons. Right Click anywhere on the EMPTY part of the screen and select PASTE. 7) You will get a message prompt. Select YES TO ALL. There. The files have now ALL been directed to the correct directories and folders for Poser5. It's that simple. If you open the "Temp" folder you've created and there is NO "Runtime" folder inside, then this will not work for you, but all of the downloads I've come accross so far have this "Runtime" folder, once extracted into a Temp directory. I hope that's helpful (and if it wasn't what you meant at all, sorry). Chloe

Here's a tip for you, and let me warn you that I am a Poser Novice.
Look about your different directories. You should be able to find your "human characters" and the jpg files for Don and Judy (the P5 Characters).
You can open these jpegs in a Photoshop program, and manipulate them for a desired effect, then save them as a seperate image.
I've managed to create a reasonable "freckled face" for Judy, though I'm still struggling with freckling the body.
If you're struggling to find some nice textures for Don & Judy (like me) then at least you know you have the option of creating your own.
Hope that's useful.

Have a look at the zip file. Just open it and see what file "types" are in there.
If it's just plain skin jpg's then you can place them anywhere and use the "Browse" feature in the Materials folder to "plug" that skin into the file.
Otherwise, try putting them in Poser5/downloads/runtime/libraries/materials.
I extracted some hair textures to there and am able to access them via the Poser Folders on the right; i.e. a "downloads" folder becomes available.
Finally, rembember that if you have downloaded skin textures for a character you do not have, then you may find the files incompatible.
Hope that helps.
Chloe
