Which version of Vue do you have ? Â (infinite, complete, 10, 11, build number ?)Â
Does this error happens with any poser objects you try to import or just one specific model ?Â
Have you tried to use some other bitmaps with same names ?Â
(any jpg, just to test if Vue can't deal with those jpg or maybe it is some more general problem with Vue failing to load poser content)

Thread: Rendering Suggestions? | Forum: Vue
Usually single image in decent quality & size renders in Vue in matter of hour(s). My old Vue static scenes, rendered on less potent computers, took even a few days to render.
For animation you need several hundred images, so no wonder that it can take days or weeks on single computer.
If you plan to create animations on Vue, you need to render them on renderfarm.
In case of your scene, you coud try to tinker with ocean material. Transparencies & reflectons are slow to render.
If you have some GI it can also slow down whole proces.
It seems you use classic sky (no volumetric clouds) This is OK, because volumetric ones are extremely slow to render in good quality.
Before you launch whole animation, run a few frames test to check if scene does not flicker - otherwise you might loose whole week rendering on unusable animation.
Good luck !

If you need it for 3D Max, then isn't it simpler to just use mudbox ?

Thread: Silly Question - Vue 2014 Complete | Forum: Vue
Hi Jim,
Once I had Vue 6 Infinite crashing during rendering and it was cused by CPU overheating. (Strangely other versions of Vue rendered the same scene without crash on same computer, also no other software crashed). After I cleaned up CPU radiator, Vue 6 rendering crashes stopped.
However rendering crash can be caused by something in the scene. Then it Vue will crash at the same moment every time you render it.  CPU overheating crashes happened at random.
You should check if your CPU has good cooling, check CPU temperature when rendering (there are dedicated software for that - probably you should get some with your motherboard)
You can try to assign les CPU cores to Vue - you can do it with Windows Task Manager (example from Windows XP 64):
Â
Another reason for crashes can be memmory modules running at too high speed. You shouldn't use any acceleration to your system when rendering in Vue, and check if memory modules have been certified for your motherboard and that they run at nominal speed. You can also try to slow down your system and chek if it helps.
Anyway, Vue is very crashing software, so crashes happens quite often, even if your computer is perfectly OK.Â

Thread: Something to Ponder.... | Forum: Vue
Ai ai ai Benjamin, and I was told by e-on boss that I am the only complaining guy :-)
But it seems you complain far more than I do *
For future Vue versions I suggested them that they should rather focus on polishing existing features out than add new, but poorly implemented ones.Â
In Vue we already have most features needed for natural landscapes, but their usability is often far from handy. There should be some deep review, inventory & "cleaning" of interface, to make it more ergonomic, and existing features should generate better results. If you are a very experienced user, if you perfectly master Vue function editor you can get from Vue very appealing images. But when you are a novice, or someone who just need to create a visualisation inside a nice environment, then you may get into trouble, and very probably you won't get results matching today's standards.

Photorealistic 3D Plants :  Green Gene Â
Thread: The Plant Factory? | Forum: Vue

Hi Everybody !Just a quick note, I am building a website about 3D plants creation, various informations about virtual vegetation - reviews of software, different approaches adapted by various editors etc... Tutorials / Download does not work yet, but the rest is in pretty good shape already.Â
Let me know if you like it, and what would you like to know about 3D plants :

Quote - Hi czarnyrobert,
congrats on making this very interesting software. Â I have some questions. Â I have vue 11.5 xstream. Â (because I used to use C4D but I couldn't afford to upgrade it and have lost interest in C4D), and I have cityengine - the version that can export .obj
what is the integration thing with plantfactory and CE? Â Or does one need lumen (which I can't understand what it is for - like is that just for making videos?)
I make still scenes for my comic with multiple panels but no video. Â I would like to make cities with trees, cars and plants together. Â Is plantstudio something that would be useful for me. Â How would it work with CE in my situation? Â Should I buy lumen and plant factory? Â If so which versions - my main desire is for quick and easy premade stuff. Â ie I would probably use preset plants.
sorry for all the questions.
Love esther
I have no idea about integration with CE - I don't have CE so far.
You should ask e-on technicach stuff about it.
TPF works fine with Vue, but with other applications you can just export to 3DS, OBJ or FBX format.  It means you get good geometry, and bones in branches (so you can animate them) but billboards are exported as static planes, and this is bad, as non rotating billboards produce poor results.Â
Also Vue procedural materials can't be properly exported (just a generated bitmap, but this reduces resolution - good news is that I rarely used procedural materials for models I prepared - bitmaps offer nicer, more realistic results. There is really very little procedural materials (if any).
But please check for details with e-on technical stuff, it was a couple of months since I didn't work on TPF, so maybe they suceeded to implement some more advanced integration with external applications.

aeilkema - the complexity (and detail) of plants made in TPF depends anly on your determination and what your computer can handle.
I think that all best images have been already posted on the plant factory website.
In TPF content you will mainly find low poly models I was asked to create for Lumen RT.
You should also notice that when using models in ecosystems, they get highly decimated (there is a setting in plant root to turn it off). So I saw some pretty lousy images of big acacia tree - it looked ugly just because of high decimation.
TPF has some automated decimation, so models at distance are generated with fewer polygons, however in mine opinion you one should use different kind of models for background, mid, and closeups. It would be completely impractical to put huge, complex models into ecosystem to create distant forst - for distant forest old Vue plum tree does great job.
TPF is very differnt from old "Botanica" system. In old system plants have been created in windows notepad :-)  Really ! It was a simple L-system, and code could be typed in any text editor. Geometry was limeited to cylinders, paraboloids and spheres. Now you can do much more in TPF, however L-systems had also some recursive functionality which is missing in TPF. Neverthless TPF can do much more than old Botanica, and much easier. Coding plants in L-System was like MATRIX :-)

During developement process of TPF, I have created about 100 plants for e-on.
Just a bunch of simplest ones is shipped with TPF. I think that the rest e-on will put in their C3D store.
By the way, I have uploaded a new image - ilustration for "The Invincible" novel by Stanislaw Lem. You can check it in my gallery.Â
There will be more ! It took me one year to build this space ship :-)
So it would be a waste to use it just for one image.Â
Enjoy !

Do you have any alternative interface color shemes delivered with TPF ?
If not, you can try some I devised while working on interface colors :

I must admit that software interface ergonomics is my passion.
In mine opionion TPF interface is good, but it could be better.
There is still a bunch of interface issues which annoy me.
When working on such project, you can't force all ideas you have. There are ressources imitations (limited number of programmers typing the code), and some software limitations making some ideas very costly (= almost impossible) to implemet. Also boss usually wants to have his final world in some topics :-)
So as always, compromises had to be done.
By the way, I don't know what is the default user interface layout at this moment, but I find that layout showed above is the most handy when working in procedural mode (definition of plants with graph. Please check if it helps you to have even smoother working experience with TPF.Â

Thread: Is there any software that can import a vue scene? | Forum: Vue
Usually it does not work properly.
Recently I tried to export from Vue 11 an imported object covered (part of a sphere) with ecosystem using some imported simple figures (like crystals). (I have baked ecosystem instances to mesh and baked them into one object)
IMPOSSIBLE !
The mesage was, "some objects have been locked from export" (check image)
Probably e-on did it intentionaly, to force you to buy carbon scatter if you need ecosystem effect outside Vue...

Do not worry, I am alive :-)
I had quite a lot of problems with my hacked computer, I had to reinstall everything and because of all those tidious "maintenance" works I could not prepare new scenes.
And indeed during this year I had a lot of work (Bruno is right about metaclouds, and it was not just metaclouds, almost all new or revised Vue content ) - so you have both reasons.
But you motivated me ! I start a new scene today. :-)

Thread: Vue Vs. Bryce | Forum: Vue
Attached Link: http://www.graphique3d.republika.pl/PROGRAMY_F.htm
I have the description of both programs on my website. In Brief: Actually Vue 5 Infinite is far far far ahead of Bryce 5.5 Obviously it is also more expensive. But extra money you have to pay for Infinite is largely compensated by wonderful, reliable and unique Infinite features that Bryce does not have and probably will never have. What is the future of both programs? Vue 5 is under constant & intense development by e-on Bryce lost its race 4 years ago, actually DAZ3D is promising to release a new version before the end of this year, but I wouldn't expect any miracles - the gurus of Bryce left it alone long time ago, and it would be very hard for DAZ3D to catch up with Vue after 4 years of doing nothing with Bryce. This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience.
