thanks once again acadia !!!!
i've heard that one can't have too many freebies...
i have lot's of stuff from shamira and they are very cool.
the things that stefeu offers are beautiful. but it is not obvious to me how to get them into poser. i couldn't get the .max files to import into poser at all. i really could use the toilet paper prop for my bathroom collection. i was able to load several versions but the chrome was a problem without a texture. how do you get it to be the right size? i imported it and it was 100 feet tall.
as the queen of freebie content, maybe you could point us in the direction of some instructions on how to proceed or reveal your secret methods. please!!

wow, thanks.
that's a great suggestion. i would have never thought of that.
i'll check it out.

sounds like a cool project to me.
i am not a poser artist. i am using it to make content for a graphics program for kids i've developed. the quality of poser renders is good enough for my purpose. the main reasons i am using it is because it makes pretty nice png's which i need and the fact that it can be programmed. i am generating pz3's from content and rendering in 14 rotations so that i end up with something like 3d in a program that's useable by regular people. believing that it was programmable in the sense that we think, was not true. only through help from forum members have i been able to succeed as far as i have because of the near lack of and incorrect documentation on poserpython and it has taken lots of time and even trial and error. saying that poser is programmable as a sales point is like saying that you can program the computer in your car. yes, it's possible but i consider that it was false advertising since they don't really support it.
i really am not fond of python at all after being spoiled by real coherent languages and good documentation. however i am now able to do most of what i want. there is lot's of content for poser but there are major problems and i am now able to fix most of them with batch processing. i have 5000 base files or a variety of characters and props up from 1000 in december so, i'm picking up speed. with shadows and camera angles and rotations, i end up with 56 png files for each pz3 base file so i now have 250,000+ files at 7.9gb. i am amazed at that actually.
i'll be watching for your new program and wish you great success...

i was just joking...
to tell the truth i really hate the interface and even made my own windows interface that talks to poser via tcp and doesn't go to sleep when poser is rendering. it makes finding content easier and has the commands i use in plain view. it even has a kill button in case poser acts up. sometimes i just push it to get even.
i was curious about what types of programs you create?

that's a really good tip. despite your negative comments about our favorite program, thank you.
i haven't defragged in a while and will give it a try.

i don't know if this is the same or a similar problem.....
i am generating clipart for another program. i make a base character and use a script to generate a new scene file and render for a set of poses added to the base character scene. it has been working well until recently.
i experienced this with v42 with juni hair and i believe aiko3 with xinxin hair. some prop hair seems to get parented by itself, but i manually parented the hair to the head to be sure. i used poses from different sources. when i looked at the renders, the hair was missing in some cases and not others.
examining the scene files, i found the parenting to be correct but when i looked at the parameter dials, i found the hair had offsets. when i zeroed them, the hair returned to position. ??? i am adding a zeroing function to my script to adjust but something seems to be different about some poses.
i hope this information is related to the mystery you are experiencing....

i agree with you. in fact i think they might be interested in the ability to use poser to better show what they are doing. i would be happy to contact them and see if i can get their permission if patorak doesn't mind.

i'm surprised that svdl didn't mention that he has a script that changes all the normals forward in a scene at once.

i figured that making a new figure was complicated but had no idea. glad you have the patience.
Thread: Using Poser Cam Control Sphere while Capturing Screen to movie | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
please excuse me. i'm sorry. i haven't owned an apple computer for a while. i didn't imagine someone was talking about a mac. from television i understand that the mac "just works" and it also makes you thin and cool.

the best screen capture program by far is windows media encoder and it's a free download from microsoft. it's pro quality, used commercially and efficiently takes advantage of 64bit and multi-core cpu's. it can also be programmed using standard languages or even windows script such as javascript.
if you are using poser, it will not slow down the interface if you have multi cores and enough clock speed. you can even narrate it as you go. it's a great tool for documentation.
it takes a bit of time to learn about it, but there is incredible documentation and sample code online if you wish to program it. it does live video capture from video cameras or tv tuners and live streaming or recording and will convert video or audio to alternate rates and sizes.
way more is possible than i have mentioned if you want to make the effort. i have an application that streams my tv tuner on the web and the remote user can even change the channel. there is a delay of about 20 seconds to see the new channel content due to the latency of streaming.

thanks for the information on using binary morphs. i guess you are talking about your program 'Binary Morph Converter'. if so, i then i will get it after the weekend. i really don't care about removing the empty morphs because my tests show that they don't slow down my process. i just don't like the large files.
i purchased 'Runtime Repair' some time ago and i was revisiting it. i have learned a lot since then and it does more than i was thinking. i didn't realize it converts/removes rsr's as i wasn't concerned about it then. i have been using P3DO.
my purpose is to create png clipart of individual characters and props. i am gearing up to have a major clipart factory. i currently am on my 2nd prototype library and have 8gb of png files with a variety of subject matter from 5000 base pz3's rendered in 14 rotations times 4 variations. obviously i have automated much of the process, coming directly from content.
i just built 2 new computers strictly for rendering and am trying to figure out how to combine them together to operate from a central library and building a queueing system. my renders are small and don't use the 2nd cores (amd64 3.2) much, so i am considering 2 virtual computers on each machine and 2 instances of poser. i have an unlimited copy of win2kpro and purchased 8 copies of poser6 when content paradise was selling them for $2. i have a lot of details still to work out....

this thread is going beyond plain jane and i am missing important details. i tried to find the posts on daz that told about your son but there were too many pages and the search engine didn't help.
i have a daughter and 2 grandsons. there have been problems, but nothing like what i am hearing. please feel free to have a discussion with me via site mail. i think i can help out in some way.

i thought you might be talking about doing a similar thing to what svdl does with poses... i made a modification to his code to loop through the character and the clothes and remove everything in the scene at once. it did not work and i think i understand why. it saves the morph to a file and then reloads it, so i think the next iteration loads while the first is in progress.
i thought i might use a callback but i couldn't find anything that seemed appropriate. i am not concerned about speed since i have multiple computers that are not always busy. if all else fails, i can just put in a delay between iterations. that doesn't however satisfy the way i like to write programs.
i have a script that generates pz3's from a base character for up to 25 poses. it is very efficient but some of the figures are so huge that it burns up a lot of disk space and also when i batch render them, there is a noticeable price in load time.
i have been a windows programmer for many years in various languages (last job= C#) . nothing i do requires all the horsepower of C++. i am doing lots of batch processing in python for poser processing but i am not fond of it or the lack of good documentation.
