Thread: Stuff for $5 - What did you celebrate the Monumental Morph with? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I found a diaper and t-shirt for 3d Universe's Toon Baby by EyesblueDesign. Wasn't using the model much because it didn't have these basic items. It cost me a buck after the $5 off.
Thread: Can Poser 7 Python change state of Normals_Forward? | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
Install the Wacro into one of the buttons, hmm, didn't even think about that. I tried shift clicking on the user installed button and thought that would work for any script in that list. Now I've installed the script into the main Wacro buttons and it works like a charm. Saves lots of steps!
Appreciate all the help!
Thread: Can Poser 7 Python change state of Normals_Forward? | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
I guess I'm going to have to know more about Python to do this. The script above has a syntax error right after the word "if" when I run it. I tried removing the only space between the if and the opening parenthesis, as seen in a piece of code in the PoserPython Methods manual page 23, but it still has a syntax error after the "if" so I put the one space back. I just copied and pasted the code in Dizzi's message into UltraEdit, saved as a py file in the wacros user defined folder and tried running it. I just don't know what is up with the if statement. I've been looking at code samples on the web for the if statement and don't see anything unusual about the code.
Here's the error:
File "D:appsposer7RuntimePythonposerScriptsWacrosUserDefinedTurnNormalsForwardOn.py", line 3
if (mats == None):
^
SyntaxError: invalid syntax
Ok, I removed the indentation before the if and else statements and it turns normals forward on for the currently selected material and no more syntax error. But shift click does not turn on normals forward for all materials in the prop. Any suggestions?
Thread: Can Poser 7 Python change state of Normals_Forward? | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
If you want to turn it on (or off) for all materials, can you use a generic term in a script to apply to all materials in a prop or figure?
For instance, I have some prop plants with materials for stem, leaves, center and petals. Other plants have materials with variations on those material names. I want to turn on Normals_Forward for all of these materials but without having a special script for each material name. I've never written any Python scripts but from looking at some it looks like you should be able to gather all the material names in a prop or figure first and run the set Normals_Forward on against all the names of materials like setting all materials to white or such, but what do I know... Is this a doable thing?
Thanks so much for responding, y'all.
Thread: P7 Alpha channel bug | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I tried Poser 6 with a background image and I got an alpha channel around the subject in the front of the background image. Didn't know that could be done. In Poser 7 I opened the same file and I get an alpha channel that is a solid block the size of the image which I believe if the same behavior of earlier versions of Poser, except version 6. I don't normally use background images because I couldn't get an object out of the image with the alpha channel, so I never even tried that in Poser 6. I'm saving in psd format which is my usual.
Thread: V4 is Wardrobe Wizard READY!!!!! (probably by tomorrow...) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm just waiting for the email to download it and the G2 males one as well. I was so surprised to see V4 arrive at Daz with not even a pair of modest jeans and a decent blouse to go with her so I'm ready to raid the other models clothing.
Thread: OT- LCD or CRT which do you use. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
My first flat panel monitor was a 15" Samsung 150MP TFT Tv/Monitor combo which is 5 years old and works as good as new. In the past year I bought a new 19" Samsung 910MP TFT Tv/Monitor combo which is just beautiful. I can't even bear to look at a CRT screen for very long anymore. In a hot climate, the less heat alone is worth switching from CRT monitors, but I also find the screen to be easier on my eyes and I love the high contrast and vivid colors of my Samsungs and having my desktop back from even the short neck 19" CRT monitor I once used. I even have a new 19" Samsung flat panel monitor at work now too and it's wonderful.
My Vaio laptop has one of those new shiny looking wide LCD screens and it's really sharp and clear too but fingerprints show up pretty badly on the screen and they are harder to get clean and streak free. I prefer the matte surface screens.
Thread: Where did it all go??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Do you have Norton Unerase or an undelete program? If so, go look for the temporary backup files Poser saves in the same folder as the original before it writes over your original and restore it. I've recovered my files that way a few times. This usually works unless you've been saving files after they were trashed more than once, or the area the temporary file occupies has been used by a later file, or you've wiped all the deleted files.
For example: I save a file ball.pzz, edit it and save it again. Before Poser overwites ball.pzz, it saves a temporary file called pzSav_ball.pzz and deletes that one behind the scenes after it writes the new ball.pzz file. Restoring pzSav_ball.pzz and renaming it back to ball.pzz gets the previous saved version of the file.
I was typing when you posted the message above, so you've found it. Don't know what to tell you except to save the file with a completely new name and try opening it again after restarting Poser again.
Thread: IMHO E-Frontier Poser 7 upgrade policy is disrespectful to Poser 6 customers | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It's nice to see a discussion like this here. I thank all that replied. I am aware it isn't the end of the world but it feels bad and I'm not so hot to upgrade anymore.
Thread: @Last SketchUp and Poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm not proficient with Wings 3D but I didn't get anywhere making the edges hard, but I did get the box to smooth out using the bevel tip. The results of using bevel and loading the obj in Poser look exactly like the results using the free version of UV Mapper image above to split vertices before taking the SketchUp obj file into Poser 5, including some faceting inside the hole.
The hard edges attempt looked like I didn't do anything at all to the model and I tried it several times. If all you do is select all edges, right click in the workspace, choose hardness from the edge operations menu and then pick hard, that's what I did, then exported the obj file. Could be operator error on the hard edges, I am just not that familiar with the software.
